Aren’t you glad Chamber and the Hideauze set aside their differences and learned to get along? They’re like one big, happy autonomous-mecha-plus-giant-luminescent-squid-thing family.
No endcard in the release this week due to technical complications, but you can view it here.

Pleasant! With this episode (and the revelation of the possible misguidedness of the advanced humans’ policy), the plot which had been dithering has been kicked up to a higher gear of Interestingness. *smiles*
I’m also wondering about possible time travel, given the mysterious difficulty in making contact with others.
That said, the part at the very end struck me as a contrived cop-out, which is a pity. The rest was a fairly-believable interplay of differing perspectives and motivations, but the end occurrence was just a Diabolo Ex Machina.
Hmm, to draw an analogy… ‘Thing is successfully started through political machinations’ versus ‘[actual occurrence]’ can be likened to ‘Hero is thrown into grief because love interest slain in war’ versus ‘Hero is thrown into grief because love interest {chokes on a plum stone}/{slips on a banana peel}/{et cetera}’. Unsatisfyingly arbitrary. Ah well. Many pleasant parts to the episode nevertheless.

24. Nat Geo presents: The Great Migration: Whalesquid
Talk about bad timing and played for drama.
Whether Commodore Fairlock did survive but bed-ridden or died during the heart-attack episode, the leadership will automatically handed to his second-in-command, Ridget. Thus, with enough pressure from Flange and Pinion, Ridget will force to sign the permission to salvage in the Whalesquid/Hideazue territory.
Now, show us what you are capable off, Urobutcher.
Now, conspiracy time.
1) With the revelation of Episode 7, lot of you (included me) realize that Hideazue is Galactic Alliance lab altered genetic-mutation of whalesquid that evolved from the colossal/giant squid during the abnormal Solar Minimum either intentionally or some of the specimen manage to break out from the lab and mutated and multiple.
2) That or Chamber analysis of the sample gave false positive due the DNA of whalesquid is like ~99% matched with Hideazue or Chamber is more sinister than it looks (think HAL 9000 in Space Odyssey). Since they might got stranded on Earth forever and the Gargantia culture and peaceful lifestyle slowly “tarnish” Ledo’s military programming, the Machine Caliber creators have program an emergency subroutine to “keep” the soldier on his/her toes aka creating scenarios to exercise the militaristic instinct whatever the cause.

Can someone give me a link to all the possible tags and codes that can be used, like spoilers, etc.
@Olexijl: I’m not sure your theory holds water, you are basically saying what is happening now is the same as what happened in the 2001 Planet of the Apes film. Your theory doesn’t explain the great disparity between technologies such as the M4/M16 rifles appearing in Episode 1 and the beam weapons they use in the opening war. Furthermore the use of books in episode 4 and Ledo’s holographic interface on a planet that has very few terrestrial vegetation refutes the idea that Avalon arrived before Ledo did, assuming the Hideauze didn’t slaughter the survivors. Lastly Amy says in the second episode that a portion of the humans left while the others stayed when the Earth was in an Ice age, which explains the Ocean faring ships, the ballistic weapons, and overall inferior technology.
My theory, which is similar to Anon’s earlier post and AMg, is that the Hideauze is a product of experimentation and that Ledo has either travelled back in time (however there is an issue here. There is no explanation as to how Ledo survived atmospheric re-entry, if Chamber was active at the time and not deactivated then the machine should have been able to stay in space when exiting the wormhole), or discovered the lost Earth in present time (I believe this is most likely correct). Assuming he went back in time, his advanced technology and (limited) data store in Chamber would provide the necessary kickstart for what happened in episode 1, a la Terminator and Skynet. Here is a kicker, when the assault on the Hideauze launched, the explanations given for the attack from the night side and the few holo pictures made me think that they were in Earth’s Solar system, except the sun has become a red giant and swallowed the inner planets, with the Hideauze parked off on Jupiter itself, its main cannon tethered to one of its moons and the wormhole opened by Saturn.
As I said previously, what more likely happened was that Ledo discovered present day Earth in the same timeline with its current rag-tag human drifters. The fact that they found Ledo under water unharmed and assuming a 6 month period did lapse, I theorise that Ledo came through a Stargate like device or similar, the few scenes of where they found him underwater hinted at industrial or heavier equipment and infrastructure. This is how the other humans “reached for the stars” in a figurative sense, it would also explain the Alliance Wormhole capability (which is perfected at that stage) and would be a much easier way of evacuating a planet instead of loading lots of Noah’s Arks with people, plants and animals (including whalesquid) and then shipping off into space (an energy source would still needed to be explained for the Stargate devices). The upcoming visit to the Whalesquid territory should provide more information to the timeline question, and I feel that an inevitable trip to Ledo’s place of discovery will hold a lot of answers and probably a plot twist

My bad for the double post and the long wall of text, if a mod can throw all that into a spoiler tag much appreciated. Can someone list the syntax for the tags that can be used?

30. @MT-Switch …and
Amy will bear Ledo’s child at the end of the series. The probable future John Connor, creator of Galactic Alliance
Either the story taking the Terminator or Soldier or Planet of the Apes (minus the apes), we will wait and see what treasures buries in the Whalesquid territory.
Oh, the spoiler tag: [*spoiler]
. Just remove the asterisk.

Although i really love the “Planet of the Apes” because humans do not win, i meant as well, that Ledo has been transferred to the present Earth.

@AMg
Dat spoiler… Is it what will truly happen, or simply a guess?
Just asking, because I’m curious 😉

35. @Drano
It’s a speculation but the evidences are pointing towards that direction. See how interested Amy is towards Ledo’s well-being? With the recent events in Episode 7, she trying to express her feelings and reason why Ledo should not go and perform his predetermine duty before Ridget shows up. Future might look grim for both of them if any unfortunate events befall on future episodes and it might make their friendship go to the next level.
Since this is Urobutcher’s work we’re talking about (even he only personally wrote the script for 1st and last episode), the scriptwriters already laid out the storyboard that might follows his dark & tragic storyline.
And now about this very show: It’s Urobochi’s revenge time!
I don’t know how the episode 11 and 12 of Madoka is in the original. Only that when Japan was hit by a 8.1 magnitude earthquake, those last 2 episodes of Madoka was extremely delayed.
It’s highly speculative, but I can only imagine that showing the original last 2 eps of Madoka would be really too much after being hit by the 8.1 magnitude earthquake. it was extremely delayed just to tone the despair down.
Now that this series rolled out, I can only hope (despair?) that Urobochi will give his best to despair us!

Guys, I’m new here so help me out a bit? Where can I request a new show? The guys at UTW do an awesome job fansubbing (I downloaded their SAO and am downloading Gargantia and Amnesia) and according to my books, they are one of the best (along with another personal fav of mine, [TAKA]), the kind that really put their backs at their releases to bring it out in all its glory :P. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time…

Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the web might be much more useful than ever before.
