It’s worth mentioning here that Aniplex screwed up the translation of an entire section of this episode pretty badly. Gilgamesh was talking about pleasure (愉悦), not superiority (優越). Too bad for them the two words sound very similar.
In other news, the Mahoyo trial came out this weekend; too bad it ended just when I was starting to get into it. ~45 minutes of reading material isn’t quite enough to write a review on, but I might put some pics up of the demo later if enough people are interested.

@Gilgamesh Just get a program like Malupdater which has an auto torrent download plugin. Works really well and you won’t have to keep refreshing the page or stay up till the early hours of the morning. 😛

I usually download the SD versions, but this time I’m feeling impatient and tried downloading the HD version. It’s playing with sound, but no video. I checked to make sure my VLC was up to date, since that comes with MKV built in, and I checked to make sure my video drivers were up to date. No change. Guessing it’s a codec problem. What kinda codec do I need for the HD mode? Xvid?

Guys, it’s simple. The ranks of the individual weapons in the Gate range from E to A++, but the Gate itself transcends the ranking system altogether (i.e. rank EX) because of its nature.
NPs are ranked EX when they have properties that transcend the ranking system. For example, Avalon is ranked EX because it gives its bearer immortality; Ea is ranked EX at full power because it splits the world; Ionian Hetairoi is ranked EX because it summons an army of Heroic Spirits; and GoB is ranked EX because Gil basically has access to limitless NPs through the Gate (remember, the norm is supposed to be one NP per Hero).
Think of rank EX as “too powerful/special to be ranked” rather than a rank per se, and it’ll all make sense.

Next episode (13) is the last ep of the 1st season.
I’m interested in Mahoyo but the truth is that we won’t know how it ranks against the other Type-Moon properties until we know every detail of every route. And by “every route” I mean the one, singular route the game has to offer. People disagree over which Kara no Kyoukai book was the best, never mind whether Kara no Kyoukai is better than Tsukihime is better than FSN. It’ll be interesting to see how Mahoyo stacks up, but the first 45 minutes of the game are hardly enough for us to judge how good or bad the game’s gonna be.
Here’s hoping it’s good, though. And yes, I’d be interested to hear what you saw and what your thoughts were.
