Summer 2012 Plans
We are confirmed for the following:
- Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!
- Sword Art Online (this will be a joint with GotWoot Fansubs; you can help decide our group name in the poll to the right!)
Accel World continues into the Summer 2012 anime season.
I wanted to do Muv-luv Alternative: Total Eclipse as I’m a huge fan of âge stuff, but with CR simulcasting it and staff unavailability, picking up this show will probably be more trouble than it’s worth.
Certain staff members *cough cough* will make good use of this breather to work through their gigantic backlogs, I’m sure…

EDIT (30/6/2012): It appears Crunchyroll has licensed SAO as well. Here’s what we’ll do:
- If it’s a latecast (i.e. 12 or more hours after it airs in Japan) and/or their translation is shit, we’ll push ahead with our original translation.
- If it’s an on-the-dot/few-hours-late simulcast and the translation is good, then we’ll either edit CR’s scripts or drop the project. Those of us who have read or are reading the LNs are really enjoying the story so far though, so it seems likely we’ll go ahead and edit CR’s scripts.
can’t say I’m not disappointed with the fact that you guys’ won’t be doing Muv Luv, but I do understand where you are coming from. ^.^

I predicted that UTW will do SAO as you do for Accel World for the upcumming works. But I can’t believe it that you guys will sub Kono naka ni hitori, imouto ga iru instead Muv-Luv. Well, the story of kono naka is quite good for the incest theme, though.

SAO is the most oversubbed show in a while. Also, UTW-GotWoot so that I don’t have to edit my RSS downloader.

You probably already know this, but I wanted to point out that there are already raws of the special episode of Idolm@ster. So, are you going to release it separately first, along with the batch when that is completed, or are you going to wait until the Blu Ray is out?
I also wanted to ask if you have considered subbing and releasing the alternate previews for each episode, which vary from the shorter ones at the end of each episode?

Yeah we’ve had a recording of the tv broadcast of ep26 since last Sunday, and it’s being worked on, albeit slowly since there is a lot of typesetting required. And it’ll be released when it’s done, that’s all I know.
And no we probably won’t sub the alternate previews.

@RIPnEncode Why are you asking that here? What would make you think UTW even considered doing Mirai Nikki BDs? Unless you’re asking if Gotwoot plans on doing them, in which case you’re doing a few things wrong. First off, by not asking Gotwoot on their site, you’re not really asking Gotwoot at all. And second, they’ve already confirmed that they aren’t. Multiple groups are using their subs for BD releases of the show, so they see no need to do it themselves. If you’re looking for a group that is doing so, look towards Coalgirls or Broken (once Broken actually gets around to releasing).

It’s Muv Luv Alternative : Total Eclipse adaptation, not Muv Luv Alternative. Total Eclipse is a kind of spin-off, takes place in Alaska some years before things in MLA.

@random1 CR’s never perfect, so don’t worry about that. Then again, neither are fansubbers. If UTW’s editing CR’s script they’ll just improve the grammar/nuance/flow/in-universe jargon of the lines, or re-TL it if it’s really off.
I like fansub groups just because the styling and such is far better than CR / Horriblesubs rips.
It obviously varies among shows, as some may be more necessary to have fancy subtitles than others.
