This episode, like so many before it, was fantastic. Though the episode had solid moments throughout, the highlight was definitely the first scene, i.e. the pre-opening credits scene. Really awesome stuff. Would be great if they do this for all or nearly all of the Servants. Caster, Saber, and Berserker would majorly benefit from such scenes, just as Lancer did. Rider doesn’t need such a scene to benefit from ;), he’s so awesome, but it’d be mega-super-great if he got one as well. And I could definitely go for a flashback showing Gil with Enkidu. Make it so, ufotable + Urobuchi + Nasu! Make it so!

Folks (more specifically – those of you jumping to conclusions), don’t assume someone (like CrunchyFlats) is deliberately engaged in nefarious activities against nyaa et al.
Until there are actual statements provably from the parties involved, it’s not possible to know what the real trouble is.
In the case of nyaa, my best guess is either hardware/server or ISP issues which really could be lots and lots of different things. None of which have anything to do with evil intent and dirty looks from FlaccidRoll.
As for HorribleSubs (and others), they’ve a lot of links pointing to nyaa. Anything impacting nyaa is going to impact them as well. Dead links are a bitch.
If fact, I had a bunch of browser windows close with segmentation faults (due to nsplugin) because of the dead link issue on those opened nyaa hosted pages.
At this point, speculation is like faulty specula. Will it open? Or shut? Is it true? Or false? Is the ‘there’ there? Or ‘there’ here?
In the meantime, get a grip and have patience.
Personally, I really strongly suspect nyaa database server issues (based on database error messages I received last night).
Yeah i am guessing that as well, it not the first time it has happened. But my pervious questions still stand so any help would be great (already read the wiki on magnet scheme but didn’t find any useful info on how to get the hash if you don’t have the file in question.)

I don’t know about BT in general, but hash is calculated in pretty much the same way, wherever it’s used.
In order to calculate a hashcode, you first need some kind of number, which can be an ID or the file header converted into a number, which will be called a “key”.
Once you have this “key”, you need to use the hashfunction. I don’t know what hashfunction BT uses, so I can’t tell anything more specific.
Something that is common to all hashfunctions however, is that they all use a modulus operation.
A modulo is an operation, that will give you the rest of a division. So 13 modulo 4 = 1, because 13 / 4 = 3 (rest = 1).
The hash is generally used, to check if a file is complete and correct and is generally much smaller than the file itself.
A hashcode is of course only useful, as long as the chances that 2 files may have the same hashcode remain reasonably small.
Perhaps you should know that Nyaa is hosted in Sweden, and there is currently a storm here that’s caused a lot of blackouts. If it’s not back up within the next few days, then you can start to speculate.
@brus – You’re not entireyly correct. nyaa’s dns servers are (according to their ‘whois’ records) hosted by “Happy Dream Hosting” in California. ‘commiesubs.com’ is hosted on nyaa’s servers at this host. I didn’t bother checking HorribleSubs but I’m guessing that nyaa host’s them as well.
Nyaa does host several groups. They used to host Coalgirls too until earlier this year.
As it happens, I’m guessing that nyaa’s dns servers and all of their subhosting is probably physically hosted on the NAS server named ‘yankees’ at DreamHost: see the DreamHost status blog – http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/

I think ‘no tellin’ was probably right. Dreamhost has two servers down at the moment. Nyaa and commie are both run through dream hosting, and according to whois thora and horrible subs are both hosted by Nyaa. My money is on their stuff being on those servers. and the other groups people said are down (apart from frostii which has been down forever, last I checked) are all working now.

Well, this was the first time using a DDL, and it was noticeably slower than a torrent. My internet isn’t the best, but it’s not the worst.
Another good episode, thank UTW for giving the best.
DDL is only fast if you pay the fees to FileSonic or FileServe, and since I rarely use DDL, it’s just not worth the money to me. Looks like it’s going to take a couple hours for me, as opposed to a handful of minutes typical for a torrent file the same size.
In the meantime, I’m going to look for the magnetlink.

@Progeusz: DDLs have one very important (to some) advantage over torrents: you can’t get busted for them. Your peers on a torrent can easily see your IP, and even with PeerGuardian there’s always a risk. I’m on my college’s network for most of the year, and I already have one strike for torrenting. That’s why I never torrent while at school anymore, and always DDL or xdcc.
… but yeah, waiting for C^3. ._.

DDL websites obviously have some sort of logs for downloads. You can argue that it has the same risks.
@Anon: true, I probably shouldn’t have said “can’t”. There’s definitely -less- risk though. I’m sure there’s a lot of legal red tape to go through before they can force the DDL sites to cough up IP information, compared to just connecting as a peer to the same torrent. As for xdcc transfers, I don’t know where the IP information is stored for that, or if it’s even logged at all, but I’d assume only the owner of the bot would have access to that information if it exists. Of course I could be wrong about that.
Not to mention that DDLs are prone to broken downloads.
Also, I’m living in a third world country. No one gives a fuck about downloading here.
DDLs are also prone to being lolspeedcapped. My average is 200 KB/s.
