Took them 16 episodes to finally include an OP (well, sort of).
It’s like they have something against showing heterosexuality in action on screen! Still a good episode anyway.
Looking forward to next week!

After showing that hardcore tonguing scene with Shun and the other fag I’m gonna be pretty pissed off if we dont get at least a bit of Saki rubbing said fag’s dick or something.
Specially after that cocktease that happened when they were captured by the negro rats.
Get your shit together.

Well, it’s a nice counterweight.

10. Sweet, thanks.
OPs are overrated.

keep grinding!

12. So they finally include an OP? I thought we lost all hope of an Op due to the BD first episode not including one

13. In the preview (post-ED), you guys state that it’s the year 237. That doesn’t sound right. It should be at least 1000 years past the 21th century.

14. NakkiNyan on January 19, 2013 at 7:32 am said:

Wonderfully heartbreaking episode like always. I love this show.
@Vance it is 237 by the show’s calendar, the translation is correct.

15. Kuroharu on January 19, 2013 at 7:35 am said:

@Vance
Translation is correct as usual.
Remember that calendar year they use in the story is different. It may be over many centuries after 21st century based on our current calendar.

So many fucking FEELS. Love the Saki & Satoru action. It’s honestly the best. What the hell did the guy in Saki’s nightmare say? “Not to aid Maria and Mamoru in their escape. And that she had to die.” Who is “she”? Maria? Why not Mamoru too? Or is “she” someone else?

17. man00ver on January 19, 2013 at 8:18 am said:

Tremendous episode, thank you.
Woah, that Maria. Unlike Saki, she’s been told nothing, but she understands so much, so clearly, and with such fateful judgment. Of course, Saki understands even better (after processing in her dreams) that Maria now harbors a hateful seed that must not sprout.
And Yakomaru/Squealer knows what a young god’s bones look like. Your cover’s blown, little ratso.
@Christine –
The guy in Saki’s nightmare is her memory of Shun. Her subconsciousness remembers him and why he had to die, and it’s informing her that Maria’s sense of wonder regarding Cantus power, together with a sense of spite toward the adults’ society of fear, are a Fiendish combination.
Dont understand. Did you want to see them making out? Who says that hugging wasnt really all they did? So in that case the anime showed exactly what happened. Thanks for the subs. Looking forward to next week.

23. Thank you!

Original post: I had a similar reaction to the ‘OP’, before bursting out loud at discovering it to instead be a Maria/Saki yuri montage (which continued through the episode proper for quite a while)

man00ver: Excellent catch! I noticed it as supporting my theory of the bakenezumi originally being human, but didn’t realise what it reveals about necessary information!

A strong sense of foreboding induced, particularly due to the ‘being used’ comment; given the dream-Shun’s words, I wonder if Maria is in fact planning to destroy the village, the bakenezumi complicit in this.

The film (?) ‘Dumbo’ by Disney has been made fun of because of a gratuitous drunkenness-dream scene. (Surrealism, but not the interesting kind. The clown-laughing-in-your-face-and-spraying-you-with-spittle kind.) A similar reaction to most of Saki’s dream in this episode.

Annoyed by the cutoff of the ‘second possible source of energy’. This has been a running theme in anime recently, that someone will start to say something world-changingly critical, be interrupted by something arbitrary, then never feel the need to finish what was being said until several episodes later (when the element of preparation time has been completely lost).

Hmm. In any case, various hints, but little overall done in this episode. Interesting that there’s another time-jump, and that there’s no immediate disaster. Also reminded by the narration that Saki is going to be a lot older by the time this reaches its end. I look forward to seeing the facets of the civilisation that will be visible to young adults. –Ah, and then there’s the aspect that, if Maria comes back into the picture, she /won’t/ have gone through university-level education or the like and will still be at the level of child in terms of her relationship with the civilisation…
A fairly long-paced story is being told. I like this, though it feels that the chronological time is being underused. There’s a sinking feeling that this is going to be yet another case of “Oh noes! Bakenezumi revving up their civilisation and brain-control techniques and plotting to do something really soon! We’ve got to do something once we get back!” “Okay, we’re back. Let’s forget all about the terrifying state of events we just witnessed.” “Oh noes! There’s trouble with the bakenezumi now that the camera’s back on us, something /we never saw coming!/”.
…I hope, now (that is, in the next episode) that they’re officially adults, that they’ve gotten their memories of Shun and Reiko back. (They are finally officially adults and no longer subject to late-term termination at least by the time they’re 26, right..?)

25. I’m homophobic but i watched this gay anime and i liked it. Is that normal?

26. Its not the OP, thats the ED for the Episode 17-25 πŸ˜‰

27. I didn’t mind the lack of an OP. I quite enjoyed the track they used in place of the OP in the first 12 or so eps. Took me a ton of searching but I finally found a clean full version πŸ˜€

28. There is a full version, i want it πŸ™

Wow. This anime really gives me chills. (just watched 14-16) Nothing really terrific happened yet, except for maybe Shun becoming karma demon but I’m getting dreadful vibes all the time, since the beginning and I’m scared more of what’s going to happen soon with the time passing. For example those “humble requests” from Squealer filled with undertones of deathly warnings. Or how he tried to use the situation to conquer Moth colony. Or how queerrats continue to advance as species, society. Saki’s nightmare also strengthened my belief that maria will be the one who will danger all humans which I had since first episodes and now whole querrats thing only complicates it. Really mysterious, my opinion of this show keeps getting better.
I really hope story will be told in those 26 episodes or at least sequel will be green lit. If not, at least translation of original material.

Just curious, but could you make a batch for all the current episodes? If not, that’s fine, just thought I’d ask.

31. What happened here guys? .TS / source issues?
