So here’s Amagami SS BD volumes 2-3, which contains:
- Episodes 3-6 (Second half of Haruka arc and first half of Kaoru arc)
- Creditless Haruka arc opening theme and Haruka ending theme
There were no other extras.
Of particular note is the little extra scene in episode 4 that was not in the TV broadcast. As for what it is and where it is in the episode… we’ll leave that for you guys to find out!

or do the blurays only contain better quality video? as u mentioned that there are no extras
There’re probably some unaired scenes (as mentioned above) along with better quality of both video and audio (TV ver can’t be released with lossless audio as it’s not clear enough or sth like that 🙂 ). Sorry, no uncensored scenes (what makes this series quite something being so popular without excessive amounts of naked girls).
I don’t think any scene was to much to censor. Maybe Sae-chan was to much kawaii to tv. 😛
Serious, there is only a extra, as utw staff says in episode 4. The rest is only better picture.

Audio is already encoded. Making that shit raw will increase size by alot. Encoding that raw will decrease size by a little.
So. Exactly the same sound. But much bigger size.

The extra scene is worth it just for the :3 of Haruka trying too hard over something minor.
Also, seems that someone forgot to mux a few fonts into ep4. The op/ed fonts appear to be missing.
After spending about as much time as it would’ve taken me to watch the whole episode to pinpoint the location of the extra scene, I was disappoint. :<

That person who “forgot” was me lol. It wasn’t so much a case of forgetting as to having no idea they were missing from the episode 4 fonts dir when I muxed them since the rest of the eps had them. It’s one of those things that happens but is easy to fix with a tiny patch~
We’ll throw a patch up soonish to fix that.

And thanks UTW, you offer such a great service, not only speed subbing the series but also releasing the BDs as well. This was also a really quick release considering this was two volumes that both came out on the 17th. God speed.
Oh, I also have a question about DXVA based hardware acceleration. I use it to play 1080p files on my laptop through HC-MPC, but I’ve heard it decreases the quality of the video. For what it’s worth, I think I notice a slight drop in quality, but I’m not sure if it’s just my mind playing tricks on me and being paranoid from what I’ve read. Since I’m by no means an encoding expert, could anyone tell me the validity of this?

Amagami SS is not the most pleasant anime to encode because of the dithering and banding, especially when you have to compress them. This is most noticeable on some of the darker scenes. Still bothers me even now. I say do not worry or look much into it; there is no real quality change in using MPC-HC’s internal DXVA decoder or any other that I have used.
For those looking for the added scene, the sauna with Tachibana sweating like crazy is it. Sorry to those who were hoping for nudity/sex. =___=

Toss the patch files in the same directory as the videos or the video in the same directory as the patch files. In this case, the videos needing patching are “[UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-1080p_FLAC][78E7B2A0].mkv” and/or “[UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-720p_FLAC][8BEB6325].mkv.” You will then execute “patch-amabd-ep04-1080-fontfix.bat” or “patch-amabd-ep04-720-fontfix.bat,” depending on which one you want to patch.

Bah the sauna scene near the end was disappointing! At least make out or something. All the other harem anime series has ecchi in it, why not Amagami?

One of the previous BD episodes had an encoding issue. Which episode is that? And also, is it fixed now?

It was the 1080p of Ep. 2 and it was re-encoded by ar since his first encode had some blocking due to memory corruption, hence the v2. http://utw.me/2010/10/27/amagami-ss-bd-vol-1/

Everyone are wondering what is the extra scene in episode 4. Some already know the answer. The answer is “Sauna”. That scene didn’t appear in the TV. So for every characters’ arc, there will be an extra scene in one of their chapter.
UTW is the “Best”.

Are both the 1080p and 720p versions of episode 4 uploaded to Fileserve aleady patched? I tried to patch them, but the program doesn’t detect them.

The episode 4 on DDL is not patched or updated (neither are the torrents); you will need to patch them.
For the patching problem, you will need to make sure the file names are correct before doing so.
1080: [UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-1080p_FLAC][78E7B2A0].mkv
720: [UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-720p_AC3][8BEB6325].mkv
It should output as
1080: [UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-1080p_FLAC][6B74B085].mkv
720: [UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-720p_AC3][A3454B26].mkv
If its is still not working, you are doing something wrong or are missing patch files. Please read the post I made to N00B on December 5, 2010 at 8:27 pm.
i’d give good money for my ear to be bitten by Kaoru … God I missed kaoru’s arc … tsukasa is just too complicated for me …
From what I understood, I just had to rename them before I run the patcher and I did so. While it did detect the files this time, they weren’t patched. This is the message I got when I tried to patch the 720p file:
“xdelta3: target window checksum mismatch: XD3_INVALID_INPUT
“[UTW]_Amagami_SS_-_04_[BD][h264-720p_AC3][A3454B26].mkv” didn’t patch correctly.
Please try again.”
I also noticed one other thing. Before I renamed them, both file names of the episode 4 videos I downloaded from Fileserve are EXACTLY the same as the output file names you’ve provided. Is there a connection here?

Heh. Then in the end, the files were already patched. The DDLs are already updated too.
