Announcing our grand plans for Spring 2011!
…or not. Spring 2011 would mark the one-year milestone for us, and much has changed since then. We’ve had new staff come in and old staff leave, we now sport one of the best fansub distro teams (thanks guys!), and we’ve come a long way, much of it thanks to your support. Naturally we’d want to continue doing what we do, but recent circumstances are making this more and more difficult.
Contrary to popular belief, although fansubbing isn’t actually that difficult, a lot of time and effort does go into producing these releases. We were lucky in that we’ve been blessed with talented, dedicated, and available staff throughout our time, but this has changed. Many of the current core members are moving on with their lives: Moshiburner (Translator) is preparing to return to his native Japan for college, Ershin (Translator) is living the life with his kawaii IRL Asian waifu, Kusion (Timer/Editor/Bitch) has his waifu Mikoto to cater to (we all know how much attention she demands), fnord (Typesetter/Editor) found a job and will begin work soon, commander`A (Multi-useless) goes MIA too much to be reliable anymore, __ar (Encoder/Typesetter/Karafag) is too busy wasting his time on old DVD/BD projects, and I myself have returned to a timezone that makes it impossible to maintain a normal life and fansub at the same time. The others… well, they’ve sorta become yuureibuin and don’t really do anything anymore.
Then there’s also show availability next season. Many of the shows we wanted to do are being simulcasted or picked up by another decent group. We’ve dropped Nichijou since it’s being CR’d. We wanted to do either Hidan no Aria or Denpa Onna as our new flagship project, but they’re being subbed by gg and Mazui respectively. Then there’s… Ano Hi Mita Hana (probably FUNi’d/CR’d), Hanasaku Iroha (CR’d), and Steins;Gate (Mazui’d). I suppose there’s A Channel, but general staff apathy etc.
So we’ve decided enter hibernation mode until further notice. It pains us to disappoint so many of you, whose support and encouragement have been our main driving force this past year. Who knows? Maybe, just maybe… some Summer 2011 anime will cause us to stir and re-enter the fansubbing arena once again (assuming CR doesn’t take over by then).
tl;dr – You guys are really cool and all, but fansubbing’s getting boring so we’ll see y’all later.
P.S.: If you’re wondering if we’ll finish our Bluray projects and the like, don’t worry: we’ll finish any existing projects at least.

I do not consider gg a decent group. Every time I try to watch something by them I’m massively disappointed with the quality and now only use them as a last resort. Sadface. Two of the most awesomest groups are in hiatus now, sadfaaace.

April Fool’s day is so frustrating. For over a whole day (thanks to timezones, and people who still tell April Fool’s jokes past 12pm) you can’t take anything that anyone says seriously, since nobody remembers to mention that things aren’t April Fool’s jokes when they’re serious.
If this is genuine, it’s the only circumstance where I could find out that UTW was disbanding and not care, since it’ll take so long to find out whether it’s true that it won’t be fresh news by the time it gets confirmed or revealed.

Like give us a video of Index and Mikoto montages and then halfway through, have it show “File corrupt” or something of the sort. (Only one group did anything close to that this year).
Give us the extra episode of Gosick but instead of translating, have just the intro/ED and a few random lines translated and the rest in a mix of random sentences of french, german, and hungarian.
