No promises, but hopefully we can get the 4th and final episode of this season out by this weekend. Typesetting is already underway.

Just a heads-up, 5:26 is probably actually supposed to be “garam masala.” It’s a common curry ingredient. The “In Ciel’s Language” bit isn’t meant to be taken literally, it’s just another “Ciel is obsessed with curry” joke.

  23. @ SpoonyGundam
Your comment sparked a discussion about curry in our staff channel.
Anyway, you’re absolutely right. I’ve never heard of the ingredient until today even though I love curry, so… whoops!
At any rate, thanks for pointing it out.

  24. thanks for the release and will be waiting for the last episode for vol 1

Thanks so much for the release guys. Gotta say, you guys are probably the best sub group out there, dood!
Also, I love Riesbyfe in the afterschool alleyway alliance <3

  26. ah, drooling ilya, i can go to heaven now.

  27. I hope we get to see serious Shiki using his eyes, rather that just being a goof.

So… the commentary isn’t going to be subbed? Can you at least mention it next time?
And since when has subbing commentaries been common practice? >_>

  31. Setton on August 30, 2011 at 10:58 pm said:

Man, 3rd ep was pure awesome! I can’t wait when someone will wipe out Shiro-fag. ;D
BTW. Does Daiz is still unavailable?

  32. Nyanto! on August 31, 2011 at 12:26 am said:

It’s not, but this is a Type-moon anime, and so there should be exceptions.

  33. Leon-Gun on August 31, 2011 at 1:05 am said:

I understand Nyanto’s point but it’s true hardly anyone subs them. It can’t hurt to do so as an after thought and release it as a patch. Depends on willingness and free time of course.

  34. @Leon-Gun
I think the biggest problem is mostly time, and the other is that almost nobody bothers to listen to commentary. When you’ve got like 10 people who will actually bother with commentary and you weigh up the time required to translate/edit/time/qc it, it kinda heavily favours not bothering at all.
It’s at least as much work as translating a full episode, if not more because it ends up being a lot more lines than typical dialogue would be.
That’s my view on it at least, the final decision would totally be up to Raze in this case, but I don’t think he has a lot of spare time at the moment.

  35. subarufreak on August 31, 2011 at 5:41 am said:

so is “white princess phantasmoon” an actual anime/ mangna, or is it just part of the skits?

  36. Leon-Gun on August 31, 2011 at 8:55 am said:

@ar: That’s sad to hear but it can’t be helped. I’m more than content with the fact you all took the time to work on this project on top of your other scheduled shows.
@Subarufreak: I don’t know if it’s been shown as an actual manga chapter or anything outside of the artwork from Type Moon’s character material, but in Take-Moon (Carnival Phantasm’s source material) White Moon Princess Phantasm-moon are fleshed out small chapters rather than just the small transformation/attack scene and fake preview.

  37. D’aaaaw…Sleeping Taiga

  38. @Raze and SpoonyGundam
I know you now know, but I wanted to throw a little tid-bit…Garam Masala is used in almost all Indian dishes, so it’s not just common…it’s key…at least in my house.

  39. Waaaay too many adorable character moments in this episode. I mean that in a good way. Thanks UTW! Keep up the awesome work. Your teams sense of humor always makes me laugh.

I know I’m an episode late, but this is the first post in the main page, so I thought it would be easier for my question to be answered.
I don’t have a clue about guilty gear, I know Potemkin is a character from the games, but what is “gal undo”? Maybe someone versed in the fanknowledge can tell me where does it originate from.

  41. bautery on September 1, 2011 at 9:00 am said:

I’m going to have to watch Tsukihime soon.

  42. @Chibi Musashi
Looking at Take Moon, ‘Potemkin’/’Potyomkin’ is written in Russian, so I don’t think it’s an homage to Guilty Gear at all. Wiki-ing it reveals that it’s associated with fake/illusory/questionable stuff (that’s me simplifying it (a lot!) since the whole history and usage is lengthy, but it is interesting so look it up if you’re interested 🙂 )
As for ‘Gal Undo’…beats me, the translation of Take Moon I’m using has them calling out ‘Sweet Chick’ instead :/ Perhaps it’s something to do with the JP pronounciation – ‘Gyarandu’ – I did a Google and found it to be a phrase sung in one of the OP’s of Natsu no Arashi, but no translation *shrugs*

  43. Chibi Musashi on September 1, 2011 at 4:24 pm said:

    @eru
Well, thanks for the explanation, I mentioned Guilty Gear because someone at /a/ had said they were references to that.
Anyways, here I am, hoping someone will know what this reference may be, and can explain it.

  46. Leon-Gun on September 1, 2011 at 7:32 pm said:

@Chibi: That’s because there’s a character named Potemking in Guilty Gear. But that character’s name in itself is a reference to the original meaning so Type-Moon wasn’t referencing Guilty Gear.

  47. Kolonel on September 1, 2011 at 9:23 pm said:

So where is iDOLM@STER exactly? We’re now a full episode behind and nothing’s been said about it since last weekend.

When you add the scripts to the scripts section of the website. I hope you attach the fonts to the .ass files as well. Bit of a pain finding those otherwise.

Yo, hatsuyuki picked this series up.
And on an unrelated note, becuz we weren’t allowed to comment on that post of mafuyu’s sketch, I’m gonna comment here. That sketch is mad pro and looks so nice. I want it

  52. Progeusz on September 2, 2011 at 1:59 am said:

Animebaka, yeah, Mafuyu is great, she calms me down with her beauty when I see there’s still no iM@S 08…

  53. Not sure if you guys care about “who gets it out first” and I know you all are probably tired from long weeks…but yeah. Episode 4 for Carnival Phantasm is out from Hatsuyuki already. They sorta just showed up outta the blue.
Good luck and hope ya’ll have a more relaxing weekend!

  54. Hatsuyuki’s release of ep4 is also terrible. Getting it out first is one thing, getting it out first and doing it properly is another entirely.
and lol guys, Mafuyu is very relaxing isn’t she!

  55. Animebaka on September 3, 2011 at 4:37 am said:

ok, ar, i fully agree with u.
i will definitely download and save utw’s version. but i will watch whoever comes out first, cuz carnival phantasm is just that good.
and does the person that drew the sketch have a art website like a devianart or something?

  56. Animebaka on September 3, 2011 at 4:41 am said:

oh, and lastly, utw should totally sub the second season of seitokai no ichizon.

  57. Leon-Gun on September 3, 2011 at 8:18 am said:

Well, let’s wait and see what shows they pick considering they’ll still have iM@S on their plate next season which does limits the amount of new shows they can do.

  58. @Animebaka

It’s japanese so searching it is a bit more of a pain but yeah.
    http://www.pixiv.net/search.php?s_mode=s_tag&word=%E4%B8%80%E5%AD%98&order=date_d&p=1
Theres a ton of Seizon sketches and stuff in here anyway.
Here’s the original full-size Mafuyu pic anyway.
    http://www.arinashi.com/img/eh8jana2.jpg
And yes we’ll most likely slowsub the second season of Seizon, since it’ll have 9001 signs per eps and EDs which nobody can figure out..

  59. ranmachua on September 3, 2011 at 3:22 pm said:

How many episodes are there in total actually? Myanimelist listed it as 12 but some put it as 4?

  60. @ranmachua
4 episodes per season, 1 season is 1 volume, there are 3 volumes planned currently with a 2 month gap between each volume/season.

  61. Animebaka on September 3, 2011 at 7:10 pm said:

    utw ftw

  62. @subarufreak, Leon-Gun:
According to the Type-Moon wiki, she’s a magical girl parody of Arcueid. Apparently she pops up in Fate/tiger colosseum and in Character Material. See link at the end.
Do take note of this: Type-Moon has about as many parodies of their main characters as they have main characters, if not more. A number of those are canon.
