Winter 2012 Plans
We are confirmed for the following, barring last-minute simulcasting:
- Amagami SS+
- Nisemonogatari
Both of these shows will be UTW solo projects.
We don’t normally do more than 2-3 shows a season as we are a small group of busy people, so this will most likely be it.
HOORAY FOR AMAGAMI SS+ AND NISEMONOGATARI…AND THEY ARE MOST CERTAINLY SAFE FROM BEING SIMULCASTED OR WHATNOT…BEING A TBS SHOW AND THE OTHER MADE BY SHAFT!….its a shame that you won’t be doing Another….

No, it’s Winter 2012 as most of winter is in 2012, and almost everything being aired doesn’t start till January.

Nisemonogatari is a prequel right? So why is Hitagi in it?
@Jake Nisemonogatari is a sequel; Kizumonogatari is the prequel. you mixed them up^^ nisemono means “fake”, referrign to the guy who framed hitagi but also to the koyomi sisters seeign themselves as a duo of justice; kizumono means “damaged goods/ lost virginity”, refering to araragi and to oshino shinobu (though back then, her name wasnt yet oshino shinobu, it was kissshot accelerarion heartunderblade (i tell you nisinoisin went for somehting unpronouncable long weird liek that on purpose! totally on purpose!)

@adam326 yes, you definately have to. nismeonogatari si a sequel to bakemonogatari, and if oyu look at it with regards to the other books of the -monogatari series, bakemonogatari can be seen as sort of an introduction..

UTW, you guys are awesome. I had a feeling guys were going to do Amagami SS+, but Nisemonogatari too? I didn’t want either gg or 8thSin to do it, the latter already failed with “Travesty” instead of Impostory, and he didn’t do unlocalized subs for a series such as Nisemonogatari.
I was hopelessly praying UTW was going to do Nisemonogatari, and with this news, it seems like my prayer got answered. So, thanks again, UTW.

Well, it looks like I won’t be downloading UTW this season.
And I had high hopes for a joint with Underwater to do Another.
One of the anime you will sure drop it.
What is the point in having a second season of Amagami? Didn’t the first season (with the two bonus episodes, too) already cover pretty much everything there is to cover from the original game? If there isn’t an Amagami SS+ game for this to be based off of, and if 90%-99% of the game’s original content was already covered by the first series, then where does that leave us with this one? This news is as baffling to me as if Kyoto Animation were to have announced in 2007 that following on the heels of their hugely successful re-animation of Kanon that they were going to deliver a second series called “Kanon+.”
Haven’t watched any of the -gatari stories by Nisio Isin yet. Should probably get on that. Bakemonogatari, Katanagatari, …

I mean, there are lots of up-down than a down-up. Example: Fractale, Appleseed XIII, CĀ³, Hidan no Aria are kind of Up-Down shows.

@Tal bakemonogatari and katanagatari are unrelated story-wise, so you dotn need to watch katanagatari to watch nnisemonogatari. well, i still recommend it as its really good and the aartstyle is unique. you have to watch bekemonogatari rto udnerstand nisemonogatari though of course.
How will you handle the sings/typesetting stuff?
I loved the gg release of bakemonogatari because it was non intrusive and simple, however, the coalgirls release was way over the top, sometimes replacing full screens with some really cheap powerpoint-made-esque stuff that completely ruined the series.

I’m typesetting Nise, and the typesetting will be handled the same way I handle Carnival Phantasm and other shows; non-intrusively, ie. fit the english around the kanji rather than over it.

so i just watched fate/prototype, and i guess it is okay, and the animation is top notch, however, the whole OVA does seem more like a kind of long trailer than anything else, much similar to the mirai nikki OVA last year. makes me wonder if they actually plan on animating the whole thing or not.
According to the Type-Moon website, Fate/Prototype is just a digest OVA/Trailer there and there no plans for any release be it a Visual Novel or anime.

I feel like that’s just the safe thing for them to say so they’re saying it. In reality, I get the feeling that this trailer is meant to test the waters and see how fans respond. If the majority are like “Man, this is fucking stupid. I am so glad FSN turned out the way that it did,” then they’ll bluff and say, “Yeah, we only ever made this trailer so you could have some little taste of what it would have been like. But we totally agree. lolz F/P blows, FSN rocks!” But if, on the other hand, the majority of the Japanese fans fall into either one of these two acceptable camps, then I think we just might see some more F/P in the future:
(1) the camp that says, “Holy balls, Fate/Prototype is everything I ever dreamed of!”
(2) the camp that says, “So Fate/Prototype may not be better than FSN. So what? It still looks like it could be a lot of fun. From what I’ve seen, do I think it’ll be worse than FSN? Yeah, I do. But do I think it’ll necessarily be bad? Hell no.”
I’m in Camp 2 myself. The way I see it, liking Fate/Prototype and liking Fate/Stay Night is sort of like liking the universe of Paramount’s Star Trek that they established in TOS, TNG, and DS9 but at the same time also saying, “You know, I really quite enjoyed J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie. It was fun. In an ‘alternate universe’ ‘fanfic from Heaven’ kind of way.” You’re allowed to like both. And you’re allowed to still have a favorite. Just like you can say, “I still prefer TNG to AbramsTrek,” so too can you say “I still prefer FSN to F/P.” Doesn’t mean you don’t want to see it animated though.
So yeah. Type-Moon may have announced that they have no plans to go any further with this project, but I think this trailer amounts to one enormous strip of pH paper that they’re testing the waters with.
