New layout
Here’s the new layout! UTW 2.0, activate! Minimalist design, go!
It’s near completion, but there are still some bugs. If anyone spots any bugs or errors they find, I’d love to hear them. Also, if you have any suggestions to the layout itself (design, banner, etc), let me know and we’ll get started on it right away.
Hopefully everyone enjoys the new design.

Random banner should be better. Nisemonogatari can be annoying.
I’ll probably make a dark version of this layout so that we can switch, but that will be in the future (see: after Christmas).
For now, we’re just going to fix up all the bugs (we found a few of them already), and then we’ll get started on the darker layout.

Being honest, i like the old layout more than this one…
Dark layout was nicer for photos, but white background with black text is so much better for reading any bloggy stuff. With the last layout, I really wouldn’t even bother reading the text and just look at the picture and the caption.
I too liked the dark layout more – especially when I entered your site at 1.00AM and didn’t get blinded by the brightness:D So I will too look look forward to darker theme.

One more vote for the dark layout. This looks too generic and I personally find light text on a dark background easier to read.

This will take some getting used to but okay.
Looks like you just deleted half the stylesheet. Lots of things that should be styled and aren’t, as well as poor margins and padding in places. You should put in a little more effort, guys — a great design makes a great website even better.

The design itself is not that bad. But it needs some additional things to be considered “good”. Looks more like a draft.
For example the right column. It isn’t spaced at all. As axi0n said, there are a few margin/padding/whatever bugs or leftovers that should or shouldn’t be there. There could be some border between main and side column.
The navigation bar beneath the banner is really plain. It was ok in the last design, but it won’t match with this design as it is now.
Also I’m missing a “Home” button in the navi bar. One can still use the banner, but you might want to think about it.
Yeah, that should be enough for the moment. Let’s see how this works out in the end.
The brightness surprised my eyes just like the bright ray censors on fanservice on anime broadcasts.

While I agree with trying to improve the looks. I much prefer a black background… if you were you introduce a light/dark option. That would be really awesome. But the new look does effect my enjoyment of browsing the site.

btw personnaly speaking.. wouldnt either black or yellow kinda fit better with nisemonogatari and kizumonogatari? speaking of yellow, id really prefer a shinobu-banner over a koyomi-sisters banner.. you could even have the shinobu-banner switch between the several versions of shinobu which will appear in nisemonogatari; there are a bunch of fanarts of her other ageforms, as well as age progression pics too..

I don’t usually come to this site. I just got here looking for subs for the latest fate/zero episode. The following is an accurate account of my thoughts as I opened this site.

I don’t see much issues with the layout personally. I was worried earlier when I couldn’t get to the site, though now I see why 😛 Also, people are pretty much always against change, so perceptions might change as people get used to it.

It works, but I liked the old one better. Looked nicer and distanced itself from other subbing groups.
This design’s good, but I preferred the darker one.
Colors aside it looks fine.
I’ll agree though that there are several other groups that have the same simple white/off-white and that the old color scheme gave UTW it’s own thing.

Much better, much brighter and gives off this happier feeling. The last one was a bit gloomy – a feeling I don’t get from UTW.

I preferred the darker colours too. Not that it’s bad now, it’s just that this site now looks like almost every other site out there.

I had an idea to put a “reply button” on each comment, to make it easier for us to quote or replying someone else’s comment. Better yet if there’s a quote button also.
And, for my personal taste, I’m not fond of UTW’s new banner style.
I made a custom style of my own, using your logo and my style.

Dark is always better, it saves power and burns less into my screen (and my eyes).

O, now it show up… FIX THE FOLLOWING: Copyright location, login info look (too plain on on white skin), and the crazy tags on the right widget for some reason is now looking horrible. It didn’t bother me with the black skin.
Another vote for darker color scheme! (read: no turquoise/seagreen/yellow)
Otherwise looks mostly the same as I’m seeing it now. Colors wouldn’t stop me from watching your subs, just from lurking the post comments.

I like the minimalist appeal of the new site, but the color scheme needs some work. You should probably put in a color scheme changer, as I like many others prefer the darker scheme. Something like:

That was a surprise! I didn’t have any problems with the old layout though. The header looks indeed a bit weird, also with Koyomi’s head cut off.

Yeah I kind of see it with only the head minus the armor on the torso.
@nINJAkECIL: Or with a smaller body. With a subject as tall as that, it’s a bit difficult to make it work. Also, I think heads that are cut off from the eyes and above gives it a bit of a mysterious feel. That’s just me though.

I liked the old theme more.
The new design is nice. I’m not sure if I would have changed the background color to the gray. But I can see the difference you’d want to make with the content container. It just makes the site seem smaller imo.
A nit-pic bug:
Script Page, when you open up one of the links to reveal the skips, you get a scroll bar inside of the inner containment box. It makes for an awkward experience imo.
About Page:
The email links under your names really should display the email address somewhere so someone can copy and past. A lot of people don’t use outlook or apple mail programs to email people. So having your email show as a copy and paste option is important.
XDCC Page:
IMO you should move this to the last link on your navigation. Any link that navigates a user to another web page should be listed last as to que as many hits on your site as you can.
Other than those nit pics, it’s a nice site over all. I love your work!

When I look at the current layout with my new Dell monitor, I can see the difference between the grey body and the black background, but with my crappy old monitor I can’t see any difference at all. So I’d like to request if you can take a look at that, since there are lots of peeps out there who have crappy monitors.
