Well, I must say I don’t remember ordering that much sugar and vanilla (and a hint of cheese) in my anime!
We’re switching to the MBS channel, which airs a little later but has better video. It won’t affect our scheduling (i.e. we’ll continue to release around this time if nothing goes wrong), so no worries.

It was a great episode but so RUSHED. Just little bits in this and the last episode that if they’d included them would have made this whole episode more meaningful and touching.
With the speed they’re going with this …
They might actually finish the 25 ep series with the ALO arc. I mean if they even spread the Yui Arc over 3 episodes then unless we get 10 episodes of filler then there is nothing left until the end of SOA…… not that I’m complaining ALO would be awesome!!
Super job to the groups! As usual, I must add.
This episode was just fantastic. I’ll probably repeat it daily until next week.

Hey BelaGuez,
I think there’s no doubt…
…that we’ll get ALO after. From the published episode titles, Yui is covered in the next two shows, and #13 will polish off Aincrad.
27. thanks for the release!Well that escalated quickly >.< Lol'd at trollxbadass kirito

28. 13 is the fishing episode
And the conclusion to Aincrad is probably two to three episodes.
I guess they have nine to eight episodes left devoted to ALO.

29. Thanks for the release.
I’m thinking that the last episode of this season will be a cliffhanger to GGO.

30. love DAT banner. thanks for the subs!

31. Thanks for the subs UTW, this was such a jaw dropping episode.

33. They’ve done it, but sadly… No borderline hentai scene to tease the fans. I will run to Fakku to read some SAO doujinshi.
Let’s wait for their virtual daughter make an appearance.
This better quality video is worth too much to compensate the 1 hour late release.

@edlar – You should probably spoiler tag that kind of stuff. I think there’s no way…
…that ep13 is going to be about fishing, when the title is “The Depths of Hell” according to Wikipedia. Since ep12 is called “Yui’s Heart,” its pretty obvious she’ll be wrapped up then. IF we see the fishing scene, it’ll be crammed in next week.
37.
well i read on the SAO site that were having a 2nd season although im not sure if its including the 25 ep run but if theres going to more eps after the 25 eps then they should be able to pace out the ALO arc quite well.
38. Thanks for the latest episode. Btw, nice banner 😉
so if I remember the rules right A)killing a player no matter the reason marks you a player killer ie. red mark. B) you cant enter towns with NPC guards when marked red (like any MMO). so how did he get back in town? I dont remember them saying there was a cool down on agro, altho most MMOs today dont have CD’s on player killing. your ideals on this issue would be welcome…
@godflame
im assuming youre talking about kirito. if i recall correctly, its something like attacking/killing a red player wont give you a penalty. since kuradeel turned red from killing the other guy, kirito and asuna wouldnt have a penalty for attacking/killing him.
44. Hmm, ep 13 will probably do a quick fishing scene, then off to floor 75 and all its goodies.
Evaluations of Accel World leave the general number at 5 episodes/book, so 15-25 will probably be dedicated to books 3 and 4. There aren’t any side stories set in that section, so it should proceed as normal. As well, if it ends at the end of book 4, it’d be a pretty good place to wrap up an anime (only for now, hopefully). No cliffhangers or anything.
.
By the way, you don’t turn orange if you attack/kill an orange. There does happen to be a quest that can revert you from orange to green, but it’s apparently really long and tiring.

45. IZEROII on September 9, 2012 at 4:11 am said:

So good. But, it does make me want to read the novels to brief myself on all the rich narrative detail that isn’t being adapted.

46. velocitas014 on September 9, 2012 at 4:14 am said:

@Godflame
I don’t remember if they mentioned it in the anime, but I clearly remember that in the light novel, it was stated that injuring/killing an orange or red player has no consequences.

47. This episode was rushing to story faster then Asuna(flash) herself and it left out a lot of little details. Though the fighting seen was short it was still awesome. To all that is still thinking about if reading the LN first or not i would say “go and read it”!

48. palladium on September 9, 2012 at 4:17 am said:

@BelaGuez: I completely agree with you, and I’d rather they cut short the Yui arc and include more subtle things from the LN, such as:
1. Before the fight with heathcliff, how Kirito told Asuna he would do anything for her, and how he wouldn’t mind joining the guild anyway because he’d be together with Asuna.
2. After defeating Kuradeel, at least include the part where Asuna says she made it so quickly because of the power of love.
3. Include the scene where they toldf Heathcliff about leaving the guild
4. The Ethic code off bit shouldn’t be omitted.
5. Where is 16.5? 😛
49. man00ver on September 9, 2012 at 4:19 am said:

@godflame – I don’t know that the rules were ever fully explained, but…
…I suspect it’s open season on “red” players like Kuradeel. Even Rosalia mentioned her “green” status when warning Kirito about changing color if he hurt her. The LN referenced that Kirito had teamed up in the past with some other guild fighters to go to war against Laughing Coffin after negotiations failed, so I imagine even “honorable” players are permitted to PK in some cases. I never read anything about being kept out of town by NPC guards in Aincrad. But in the end, this is how the story was written, so any inconsistency comes from the LNs.
50. kaznmac on September 9, 2012 at 4:22 am said:

Finally going to married:)

51. This ep was definitely rushed, couldn’t even savour the moment before something else happens

52. @man00ver
I never read any of the LNs but I suspect the bit about PKers being kept out of town by NPC guards to be false. Good evidence to support this would be episode 8 where you can see a Laughing Coffin guy there observing the fight between Kirito and Kuradeel. If it was true he wouldn’t have been able to enter the town.

54. godflame on September 9, 2012 at 5:09 am said:

yeah good point Sushi didnt remember that, so i guess the only rule would be that you cant atk in towns. the rules govering PK’s is still kinda hazy to me at best but o well if i wanted to know for sure id read the damn LN’s >_>

55. BelaGuez on September 9, 2012 at 5:11 am said:

Given the pace and the episode titles already up on various sites how sure it is that this is even a 25 episode series?
I mean we know that 11 and 12 will be Yui and then if they hyper rushed it in theory episode 13 could just be the outright final (which would be a crime). I can’t find any “official” site that says its 25 eps. Or are they going to do a “Fate Zero” and cliff hang the end of episode 13 and then have a “second season” a couple of months later to do the remaining 12 episodes? Cause if they did that I might have to do a Keita
56. klaynne14 on September 9, 2012 at 5:11 am said:
now that you guys mention it, this chronological order of episodes is just =/ when we saw that Laughing Coffin member in ep8( since no one knows what PoH’s face looks like, and just those tattered robes, that guild logo and covered face wont really tell, but people assume so I’ll leave it to their imagination) it never showed their color cursor overhead so not all LC members are orange/red, just like Rosalia was even a green being a guild leader of a detestable guild, that’s why he was inside the inner area.. *w/c eventually led to Kuradeel having associations with LC afterwards since he wanted to get back at Kirito after that duel.. the LN did mention a crusade carried out against that PK guild when negotiations failed but basing on how the 3 LC members showed up on ep6, it should have happened a whole lot later.. just refer to this spoiler filled timeline 😀 http://swordartonline.wikia.com/wiki/Sword_Art_Online_Timeline%5B/spoiler%5D

キタ━━━(゜∀゜)━━━!!!!!
At last, the moment everyone has been waiting for. Mainly thanks to some misunderstanding and over-eagerness on Asuna’s behalf on the definition of “spending the night together”. LOL
BTW, did Kirito kill Kuradeel using something akin to AW’s Incarnate System? I just get the feeling the AW developer 20 years later might have been inspired by this similar “mind over matter” skill in SAO when he came up with such a secret skill for the elite Burst Linkers.

62. diegolg on September 9, 2012 at 5:52 am said:

Oh well, I guess this show deserved more than 25 episodes… you could do 4 or 5 seasons easily, but, that’s not how it works… about the episode, pretty amazing, but, yeah, so rushed… thanks utw!

63. jarhead on September 9, 2012 at 5:55 am said:

Kirito killed him with a quick strike unarmed martial art skill he picked up on an early floor. He’s one of the few that even knows or was able to get it. In the book, that skill could only be used in specific settings. It didnt do point damage, but percentage @ 20%
And yea. They left out too much. They keep hangin on stuff that doesnt matter and skipping over the good bits.
You all need to understand something though. The author of the original LN series was-and is currently- involved in this series.
On the bright side, at least we will get to see the ALO arc, which is cool.
And tell me please… that the yui arc is NOT 4 eps. That just doesnt make sense…. they should added another 2 eps in between ep8 and 10. Making that period almost twice as long and woulda worked out better.
I see where this went though….. originally, the LN’s are more like a drama, they want the anime to be an action based shonen, so keeping to the LN would be impossible as there isnt THAT much fighting in the SOA LN’s. Mostly character development AKA wouldabeena druama
/rant

64. whhat is this god tier episode doing here

65. man00ver on September 9, 2012 at 6:00 am said:

@Kinny Riddle – they probably won’t explain in the anime, but SAO has many different weapons skills, and Kirito has “Embracer,” the unarmed contact skill he used on Kuradeel.
@BelaGuez – the official site published a news bulletin Aug 26 that they had selected the artist and song for the 2nd season ending theme song: Luna Haruna, “Overfly.” That should be a big clue about what’s coming next. 🙂

@Kinny Riddle No, Kirito used <>, an Unarmed Skill, on Kuradeel. Thanks for the episode UTW! 🙂

68. Thanks for the new episode!

69. sushi and godflame should watch episode 4. “One or two days of being orange mean nothing to me.” Seems like the leaders of orange guilds would rarely commit crimes so they can enter towns and scout.
The NPC guard thing is in the A Murder Case in the Area side story part 12: “Criminal players normally couldn’t enter the streets and villages that have the «Anti-Criminal Code» in them. Once they stepped inside the area, they would be attacked by a large number of NPC guards that were as strong as demons.”
@kinny
I don’t think it’s the incarnate system. “I had successfully countered with the point-blank range skill «Embracer», which immediately eliminated the last 20% of Kuradeel’s HP. His gaunt body shivered violently beside me, then completely lost all strength and sagged.” -Chapter 15

71. BelaGuez on September 9, 2012 at 6:16 am said:

@man00ver
Ahhh but it is “second season” not “second half”. I seriously hope they don’t have a mid series gap like Fate Zero. I couldn’t handle the withdrawl.

72. Charkelle on September 9, 2012 at 6:19 am said:

@man00ver/Sushi:
The thing about NPC guards keeping orange players out wasn’t something in the original work, but it was mentioned after the confrontation with the Laughing Coffin members in the “Murder Case in the Area” side story. That’s the only mention of it at all that I’m aware of, but it does have precedent.
There are actually quite a few inconsistencies in the Aincrad arc when you start adding in all of the side stories because of how they were written (There are actually a few in volume 1 alone, even without taking what came after into account). Many things were essentially retconned multiple times over the course of them all. One thing to keep in mind though about the laughing coffin member in town is that not all of the members of a PK guild were necessarily “orange” at a time. One good example is Rosalia from Silica’s side story, though that is a different guild.
73. @BelaGuez It’s called second season because a season is made of 13 episodes, or 13 weeks, not because they’ll make a pause in broadcast.
On other note, Eir Aoi announced that she is doing the ending for the second season.

74. diegolg on September 9, 2012 at 6:26 am said:

does someone know if this so called second season is just the last 12 episodes? I’ve found the episode release dates on the web just till the 13th. Should we expect an hiatus between this and the last half of the series?

75. So did they have sex or what?

76. I’ve been reading the LNs as the anime airs and I must say, this episode had the most things missed out that bothered me, I can understand the exclusion of 16.5, I mean that chapter isn’t really suitable for tv 😛 But it’s just the small subtle things that get me. Don’t get me wrong, still a really good episode 😀

77. Question: In episode 3, you guys used “Black Cats of the Full Moon” for Kirito’s old guild, but in this episode, “Black Cats of the Night” was used… I’m curious as to your reason(s) for that change, if you don’t mind elaborating.
Thanks again for the subs!

78.
That bra…seriously that bra…
79. @ Senna
We used “Black Cats of the Night” in episode 3. There is no inconsistency!

80. Charkelle on September 9, 2012 at 7:07 am said:

@ghli: I don’t think this really counts as a spoiler (since it’s something that’s not even in the anime), so the answer is, at least going by the LN, that yes they did. I didn’t expect that to actually make it into the anime from the beginning, so no surprise there, though the way they did it does at least suggest that it happened.

81. Revelations on September 9, 2012 at 7:12 am said:

@diegolg
maybe they’ll cut this season in half like with Fate/Zero

83. Charkelle on September 9, 2012 at 7:19 am said:

It’s probably also worth noting for people who haven’t read the LN that an explicit version of that scene (which was obviously not included in the anime) is the “Chapter 16.5” people keep bringing up.
What we got in the anime was a cut-down version of just chapter 16. In the LN, chapter 16 did basically tell us that they did, though there was nothing explicit in it. 16.5 was, if memory serves, something the author posted on his website but was not part of the published version.

84. @ghli: To follow up on what Charkelle said, there’s a “hidden” chapter (16.5) which was not only excluded from the anime, but even skipped in the official print version of the novel as well. It is very explicit / NSFW.

Asuna: *options* ==> *guild* ==> *leave*
Leavemessage: “Sorry but see you later guys. Good luck! ^_^”

Good thing they rushed the ep and left out a bunch of stuff.
Can’t have an anime that actually follows the original work perfectly, it’d blow too many people’s minds if someone actually did that.

102. Whoa… So, my initial assumption of the Episode 10 was right. They did altered and cut off any “unwanted” scenes significantly in order to make Chapter 13 to 16 into one episode. Most jarring were
before the duel, Godfrey’s training which suppose to be a five men party and the “Ethic Code” shenanigans (well, it’s quite ok just it lacks of flair and passion). Oh well, at least we can visually see Asuna unequipped her dress. Ohhhh Yeeeaaaaah!
Now, in the next episode, both of them create life after who knows how many time did between Selmburg and their honeymoon home at 22nd Floor. Asuna’s maternal instinct kicks in.
103. Tachyoon on September 9, 2012 at 10:13 am said:

@Navitron
Well, it is not about what the guildleader wants. My question is, why Asuna seems to not be able to leave against his will. What could Heathcliff do against her decision? Not let her in again? – Would not really help him.
Or can only guildleaders make someone leave a guild in that game? Or any other ingame punishment?

They shortened the pre- and post-Heathcliff fight talk way too much. But I guess I can’t really rage much since almost every anime out there drops off the plot since they are rushed like the ToAru series.
Oh well, I’m only watching the anime for the animated fight scenes and MOE WAIFU ASUNA!
At least they got the pissed off look on Heathcliff after he defeated Kirito. The manga didn’t do a good job on that part.

106. and there goes 16.5

107. Sorry to be rubbish, but I’ve heard and seen nothing about the Amagami SS+ specials in ages: does that mean they’re dropped? I remember them being on your FAQ at some point but they disappeared one day!
If you never planned to do them, sorry for being annoying.

I don’t understand why people request this but since I rip subs anyway for BD remux I don’t mind posting them. Thanks UTW for SAO and Accel World.

110. Thanks guys. Yeah, compressed as hell. Still, not bad. I think it did cover most of the important stuff, and watching all that in fully animated glory is still good. I definitely recommend to read the light novel for the people that have not read it. The anime is not bad, it’s simply missing lots of stuff.

Okay, here are my questions:
Can you feel pain in SAO? Or not?
Is there tactile feedback?
(In the earlier eps, sleeping PKs were an issue, right? But in ep 10, Kirito feels pain when being stabbed and wakes Asuna with a poke)
And what about Health Regen? In the last couple of eps, during big fight scenes, it seems like Kirito’s health (and Asuna’s, at that..) isn’t regenerating. This one is more of a nitpick, but still bugs me.

112. BelaGuez on September 9, 2012 at 12:54 pm said:

@Murasaki no Tora
No you can’t feel pain in SAO (this has relevance later in the LN). Kirito describes the “feeling” of being stabbed in the LN as;
“Although I didn’t feel any pain, an unpleasant feeling of being stimulated in the nerves passed through my entire body alongside the strong paralysis effect.”
Also Battle Healing isn’t that awesome, if you take the numbers from Episode 4 then when he was level 78 he regen’d 600 HP every 10 seconds with a total of 14,500 HP.
In this episode hes level 96 with a total of 18,500 HP. So even best case of a linear increase with levels (which it might not since he may have already maxed out Battling Healing by level 78) then he’d only regen ~740 HP every 10 seconds out of his 18,500. Far too slow to not get stabbed up by that nutcase.

@Murasaki no Tora
most would be explained better when reading the LN, goes to show how lacking the anime adaptation is and why most of us LN readers rage on almost every ep, but still love the show nonetheless xD
there is a pain limiting function in the system but as seen in ep1 when kirito got klein in the balls and didn’t feel anything, it was set to the lowest setting as default such that it can’t be felt, this subject is later brought back on vol.4 of the LN at the ending of ALO arc when Kirito was able to manipulate the pain settings, but I wont spoil it here 🙂
tactile feedback. im not too familiar so I’m not sure 😀 maybe not
afaik, there’s just an unpleasant feeling being stimulated as being shown in Kirito’s face when he got stabbed, but he didnt feel any pain. as stated in page198 in vol1 of the LN in that situation 😀 as for poking Asuna, it wasnt like she was in a deep sleep when she slept beside Kirito during ep5 coz of the sleepless nights of level grinding and training getting to her, so she felt it almost immediately, more so coz she knew she was with the one she loved so yeah, love logic xD
health regen, Kirito’s Battle Healing skill can only recover so much (like at ep4 when people were dealing 400 dmg to him every 10secs but he’s regenerating 600 at the same rate)but when dmg received is too much, I guess it’s understandable that it’s not enough to be noticeable.. hence the steady drop in hp.. or at least, that’s how I understand it.
117. @Murasaki no Tora
I think you can still feel pain. Either because the effect of paralysis that lower two or more stats; making you vulnerable or perception of the one’s mind; sense of panic/fight or flight reaction/adrenaline rush that triggers the sensation of pain which being emulate by the NervGear’s simulation engine or combination of both. There are tactile feedback which it heighten the experience of total immersion of the game.
By an academic guess, Health Regen works depend on comparison between damage dealer’s stats to user’s stat. This will affect of how fast will the user recover and how much health he/she gains back from the damage. If they dealing with Level Boss, their health will recover but at a slow rate as most of Boss stats is higher than the current users. That’s why the players use “switch” in the first place to let others recuperate from the damage they receive via potions/crystals or using passive skills like Health Regen
The author didn’t fully implore the game mechanics of the NervGear’s FullDive technology; leaving to the readers/viewers to figure out how it works. :3

I mean, the pacing of the anime is too fast. Though the character development is kinda a bummer. For those who have read the LNs know what I mean right? 🙂

131. I was wondering the same thing Elucidator. I think 2 volumes per season would’ve been perfect.

the anime usually its aimed to make you want to buy their others medias, im enjoying the anime even if its a bit rushed, provably most of the viewers that enjoy this show are trying to get as much information as they can from the LN and manga to complete the holes in the anime no doubt the producers might be getting higher sales on the rest of their media. So no real reason to rage every episode

134. Charkelle on September 9, 2012 at 7:21 pm said:

@Murasaki no Tora: There are a few reasons for that. The first is that as far as I remember his regeneration skill wasn’t included in anything before the Silica side story was written (which means that in the parts of the LN that this and the previous episode were based on, it didn’t exist). They could have shown it to keep consistency without really hurting anything, so I think it was more of an oversight as a result of these scenes in the LN not mentioning it than anything.
.
The other is that what you see of the regeneration in the anime version of the Silica side story is quite exaggerated compared to what was in the LN. In that, he states that his Battle healing skill restores 600 HP every 10 seconds (and that they were only dealing 400 every 10 seconds to him, which is less than 3%), and that he had 14500 HP total. So, basically, he was at that time healing roughly 4% of his max HP over 10 seconds, meaning it would take more than 4 minutes to go from zero to full. His invinicibility in that case was more a result of the level difference meaning that they couldn’t do any significant damage to him quickly, not that he healed very quickly (In the LN, they barely made a mark in his HP at all, enough that Silica didn’t even realize it was going down at all at first). The anime made it appear more powerful by having them do more damage to him and still having him heal it all back immediately.
.
So basically, I think it was more an oversight and the fact that they’d already portrayed it differently in a previous episode than anything. The healing shouldn’t have been significant enough to have really had an effect on the outcome of any of the scenes in the last few episodes.

Even if he wrote it, doesn’t mean it’s canon. Baka-tsuki has removed that chapter because it’s been announced to be “non-canon”. It was actually on a separate section on the author’s web novel website of SAO which was completely not in the main story. Chapter 16.5 wasn’t even in the light novel itself when it was published. So proves that chapter 16.5 is NON-CANON. If Chapter 16.5 was in the light novel, then the anime wouldn’t even air on public television in Japan if something like that was “canon”.

148. man00ver on September 10, 2012 at 3:26 am said:

I don’t think they’ve rushed the relationship AT ALL. For those who didn’t absorb Kirito’s flashbacks last week, let’s review:
-They met 2 years ago, when he was her first game partner and they teamed up to beat her first boss monster. Even when he was walking away from her, under the hatred of others, she still had a sweet smile for the bad-boy beater.
-Taking his advice, she went and got strong and respected. Remaining just a little outside her sphere of influence, he always stood up to her when she got bossy. Then he went and taught her to stop and smell the flowers, instead of just grinding away every minute of her game life.
-Solving a serious mystery together, she sees he’s got a good head on his shoulders and a lot more compassion and understanding than he lets on. She tries to break into his loner status and makes him her friend.
-Under the pretext of “making sure he’s still alive,” she shows up to visit him in a seedy part of town, invites him home to dinner (her specialty), and hints that he’s welcome back anytime to sample the normal menu. Oh, and while he’s there, she all but forces him to team up and spend some more time with her.
-She “sneaks out of the house” to meet him (and we know from Liz’s episode that it’s not the first time). Then he gallantly stands up to her reproachful authority figure.
-She lays some more culinary magic on him. She meets his best friend, and promises to take care of him. He practically sacrifices his life to save hers, revealing a big secret of his along the way. At this point, she goes for broke, and decides to leave her “family” to be with him.
-Now Kirito puts his own freedom on the line to be with her, she learns more of his secrets, then she saves him from certain death, and he turns around and saves her life yet again.
🙂
So yeah, I think it’s pretty obvious that Asuna fell hard for him quite some time ago. He’s been sealed up in his guilt, but she’s been gently picking his locks. So, in her view, when the door sprang open, the waiting was over (after pausing for another nice meal, of course).

149. Charkelle on September 10, 2012 at 3:50 am said:

@Soukyuu: Even if you were to not consider 16.5 cannon, it’s still pretty heavily implied that it happened just from the last part of 16 (which is what included the whole “Ethic Code Off” thing, not 16.5). You could make an argument against it being canon if you wanted to, but considering the fact that 16.5 exists (even if you didn’t include it as canon itself), plus the contents of 16, I think it’s pretty clear what the author’s intent was regarding whether they did or not.
.
Also, how exactly it works within the system is explained in 16.5, but I’m not going to get into those explanations here.

150. nepenthes on September 10, 2012 at 3:53 am said:

@man00ver – I think it might be because it’s hard to grasp the movement of time within each episode, without keeping an eye on the date changes that pop up on-screen. Sometimes it jumps by weeks and weeks, but we don’t really notice since the characters don’t physically change (which makes sense).
Kudos for spending time to type that up though, explains a lot.

151. Yea. Honestly. If you think about it rationally and fill in the gaps with what is obviously the only things that could have happened in their relationship in the past (going on the current trend of their normal interaction) then it makes sense. They are really just leaving out all the stuff that isn’t required and just skipping ahead in places to speed step their relational growth.
That said… I hope everyone realizes…. the show is actually about kirito. Not soa. Not asuna. Not even the game itself. Its kirito. Author said so in his notes. Which is probly why he changed the animated script so much….. to get more kirito in there.
And the fact that… sometimes kirito in the book did things that were out of character and that would pose a problem in the anime.

152. Charkelle on September 10, 2012 at 3:59 am said:

@Linkmstr: The events of 16.5 aren’t necessarily “non-canon” simply because it wasn’t in the published version. You could argue that the chapter itself may not be, but considering chapter 16 alone it’s still suggested that it did happen. I highly doubt that the reason that 16.5 wasn’t part of the published version was that the author considered it non-canon, but rather the fact that it was extremely explicit and not really suited to be included in a published work which isn’t intended only for adults.
.
You can think of it this way: Chapter 16 may be vaguely saying “it happened”, whereas 16.5 was something written to say “This is exactly what happened”. Either way, the intent still seems to be there, so while you can debate whether chapter 16.5 in its entirety is canon or not, it seems to me that the simple fact that they did have sex would be canon regardless.

153. In the manga adaptation (chapter 8, Aincrad series), it is shown that they did sleep together. After the talk about the “ethic code”, they kiss and the scene changes to them naked in bed. The manga follows what the characters say and how the scenes are described, so therefore it’s official that they really did it.

154. Sorry to bother you with this, but I was wondering if you’d be able to upload the SD versions of Sword Art Online to MediaFire as well? It’s just that RapidGator makes for an incredibly slow download, takes about an hour, whereas with MediaFire a file of that size would definitely go quicker, and it’s also free to use. You don’t even need an account with them to upload using their service.

Will you do a BD release for SAO?

162. Hi,
I didn’t read the manga, so i wanna ask something about anime. In ep. 4 Kirito says he is level 78 and he has this “Battle Healing Skill”. He says also, that he is solo. But is this before he ends up joining Asunas guild or after?
Does make it any sense to say being solo when being with Asuna partying around? He parti’s with Asuna being on (i do not know… level, but i think before he met Silica).
And finally. Having “Battle Healing Skill”, can you drop the HP so easily?
Or am i wrong… I lost the story.. Help!

163. Charkelle on September 10, 2012 at 7:55 pm said:

@Olexijl: The anime is going in chronological order, so the events all happened in the order you’re seeing them (though there are timeskips between them). By saying he’s Solo he’s referring more to his overall playstyle, not necessarily whether or not he is in a party at that moment. What he means is that while he does join parties occasionally (usually for boss fights) but otherwise plays solo all the time. Partying with Asuna becomes the exception here, because it’s the first time since the Black Cats that he’s actually stayed with a party for any period of time. Normally he would just join (when he needed to), finish the objective, then go back to soloing. Also, his level as of this episode is 96, I believe (It shows it in the episode too, if you look above his HP bar).
.
I gave an explanation of the Battle Healing thing a page or two back in these comments, but it’s basically something that’s meant to reduce downtime between fights and give a bit of a buffer, it’s not powerful enough to make a big difference when fighting someone or something that was close enough to his level to do significant damage. The Silica side story gives the numbers, and he only heals roughly 4% of his max HP every 10 seconds at that time, which isn’t particularly fast. The people attacking him at that time were simply so much lower level than him that they were barely doing any damage in the first place (over 10 seconds, they were doing less than 3% of his HP in damage). The anime kind of misrepresents this by showing his HP dropping more and regenerating much faster than that.
.
This wouldn’t be an issue on its own, and I didn’t care too much in that episode, but it turns into an inconsistency when you see these episodes where his HP doesn’t regenerate at all (It didn’t in the LN either, since Battle Healing was something added in the Silica side story, which was written after the original story, but if they’d stuck with the way it worked in the LN they could have added it to these scenes without affecting much).

164. 🙁 Where’s my ethic filter off scene

165. Lets be real. They left out ethics code on purpose. If they added it, then they would have all the extra explaining and extra frames devoted to understanding that feature….. its far easier to just erase it and go on. It really doesnt effect the main story much. Its rushed as is and should have had a full season, but whatever. Here’s the ALO arc being super badass. *cheers*

166. i apologize if this has already been asked/answered but i was wondering how much of the light novels will the anime cover? will it include arc 3?

167. Elucidator on September 11, 2012 at 7:55 am said:

@blak I think until the 2nd Arc only. It only has 25 episodes and the next episode is the Morning Dew Girl SS. Maybe it will end around episode 15 or 16 for the first arc and rest will be for the ALO Arc. Well, that’s just what I think anyway so it’s still uncertain hehe 🙂

If you want to see the ethic code off scene you can just see it in the official manga adaptation. It’s on chapter 8 of the Aincrad series. You can see it at Chinese raw websites (there’s a page missing from the chapter though) or wait until the English scan of the chapter comes out.
I think I prefer the adaptation of chapter 16 of the light novels in the manga rather than in the anime.

And Im hoping for the LN to finish in <2 years. Just in time for the anime seasons to catch up and finish…. assuming they make another season next year.
Its a shame really….. O_O wait a minute. I think an anime game based of the LN would be better even. Reanimate the whole thing. You could actually do the entire LN then. Would be super awesome

174. BTW. there was one thing that they change in this episode from the LN that surprise me was when Asuna hit Kirito her hand lite up as she has hand-to-hand combat skill witch took Kirito a bit to learn. Lol that part was so funny! XD

175. Whether 16.5 is canon or not, it doesn’t really fit at this point of the story. How would Kayaba justify implementing sex in an all-age game? The whole “ethnic code off” already scratches at the border of being believable, if you ask me, it was pure fan service at the cost of plausibility. That’s why that chapter wasn’t published.
Besides,
after aincrad, while they are dating, there is no mention of kissing nor having sex anymore. I don’t see how that makes sense tbh. If anything, having sex IRL after escaping a death game is more plausible to me.
@Soukyuu Whether 16.5 is legit or not, it’s almost undeniable that they either made out a lot, or had sex. I mean come on, Asuna was naked in bed, the air between was just…yeah XD, plus Kirito asked her to marry him, which shows they probably got…pretty damn close XD. Plus they are going on a practical honey-moon…what more proof is there. Besides, the maker of the game is a psycho, like he cares about age restrictions XD…he wanted the game to be a true alternate reality, to offer all reality has and more.

179. @JokersGist: I’m not denying they got extremely close and of course they made out a lot, that’s what the “ethnic code off” is for, all I’m saying is that they didn’t (couldn’t) have (had) sex.
That’s why I don’t see 16.5 as legit but merely a fanservice 😛
P.S.: I hate typing on touchscreens >_<

@Soukyuu Well it probably is exaggerated if anything, since I do not think the nervegear thing can cause actual sensation…or maybe it just does not make you feel pain. I mean, if you are controlling your character with your might, that means the machine is intercepting the brain signals, couldn’t it possibly put the brain signals of pleasure into the mind? I mean, I bet the feel the sensation of grip, movement, and obviously taste. So they might have had fake virtual sex…not ‘legit’ sex though. It probably was meant as fan service, but it’s still possible. Why are you typing with a touchscreen?

181. @JokersGist: actually, it’s explained in the novels that
the amount of pain that you can feel is a system setting
.
As for the sense of pleasure, they would have to… sample the signals to know what to sent. I guess
Kayaba could have sampled his and his assistant’s signals
but it still seems too far fetched.
He wasn’t the only one behind the company that released SAO, so he’d have to somehow justify the implementation of that with them.
I was typing on a touchscreen cause I posted that from my tablet 😛

@Soukyuu I suppose those are good points, but I never see the point in looking that deeply into an anime, I mean…it’s an anime, anything that it wants to happen will happen XD. Since the artist wrote chapter 16.5, I feel like it’s as true as any other segment of the story, no matter the amount of nonsense it might mean when based on logic in real life XD. When I read/watch manga/anime, I accept it as it’s own reality, whatever the anime says happens/is true…well then I go along with it with no questions asked XDDD. Maybe when I read the novel I’ll have different thoughts on the matter…

183. dat Assuna

184. @phdchristmas
HUGE spoiler btw
yes he did, Heathcliff is in fact Akihiko Kayaba. He used his admin abilities to traverse past the games physical speed limits to stop Kirito from pushing his HP into the red field, because his identity would be revealed if this had happened (An Immortal object screen would appear showing that he isn’t just a normal player)
185. I have a question, though I’ll probably have to ask this at the next release as well.
Back during the murder case (with Kains, Grimlock, etc.), in the LN Kirito, Asuna, and Egil to to the Monument of Life and it shows that Kains is dead. We know that he was still alive, so why would the system show that he died?

186. @F3ar:
It’s explained in the LN. They use trick and loop in the system to get around that:
Yolko tells Kirito the name ‘Kains’. But ‘Kains’ real avatar name is actually Caynz. Caynz made use of the facts that a) the real Kains died exactly one year ago by piercing damage over time and b) on the monument are marked name, cause of death, day and month but not the year. [/spioler]

@AMg where’s that pic from??
From Nakajima Yuka’s D.L action series. Pretty enjoyable doujin if you have read the Vol. 7 or/and Vol.8
:3

189. Baltor, thank you. I haven’t finished this part of the LN yet.

190. @Alex god damn I wish I didn’t click that spoiler tag xD

191. @Asdfjuma
its kinda annoying that they basically all focus on Asuna, though. there are two or three with Silica, but otherwise its all just Asuna here, Asuna there… and the story is pretty much always either a variation on 16.5, somehtign on their Honeymoon, or NTR with some of the Asuna-fans.

192. The day comes again, when I’d just be refrehsing utw.me’s webpage to wait…for SAO!

193. ahaha poor you Heathcliff, you won and made Kirito join, but still loses Asuna since now they’re retiring to a holiday home.

194. Refreshing the page constantly, where is SAO guys, you’ve been beaten by commie! 😛

@Jimmeh Do not rush them, subbing is art : o, besides, they re-encode their video in better quality if you ask me, UTW has some of the best quality episodes I’ve ever seen. Keep up the good work UTW ^^, and take your time…within reason XD.

196. Yeah agreed, just want to get onto the Yui arc already 😛

197. JokerGist on September 15, 2012 at 11:48 pm said:

@Jimmeh Yeah, I doubt this episode will be as awesome as the last 2, but I guess I’ll have to see XD. I do not know who Yui ‘is’ (besides what see looks like), but I’m guessing the arc is good…

198. Same here, I’ve not read the LN unfortunately, but I have read a ton of spoilers :P, got a rough idea from that at least xD
