UTW and Mazui have crossed baseball bats/eel pies/three-section nunchuks to bust out Little Busters! in (more or less) record time for you, the audience! Be sure to check out the long-awaited animefication which feature random item generation (now with free Japanese cultural item DLC), MPC achievements, which award lack of skill, and more importantly the save-a-quote feature, which allows you to turn any bland statement into a phrase for the ages. Oh, and play the game if you haven’t already (says the person who hasn’t gotten around to playing it for years)!
And yes, those are minor spoilers lol. Won’t ruin the fun though, so without further ado, do enjoy!

  1. THANK YOU SO MUCH! MOST ANTICIPATED OF THE SEASON!
P.S.: The I know you like the eel pie and all, put the 3-D glasses are the BEST weapons of all times.

  2. Man, it brings a smile to my face each time one of my favorite sub-groups releases a show faster than the mediocre and crap-tastic groups. This way, I know that the people who are all about speed will be able to get the best quality subs that they and the show deserve.

  3. Wow hadn’t seen such a low file size from UTW in a long while (since Kill Me Baby I guess) While it already seemed like there was very little animation just by looking this pretty much confirms it. Thanks for the fast translation anyways.

  4. You simply have no idea how happy this has made me. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you guys for subbing this. I probably wouldn’t need the subs since I managed to understand the 9 min preview that was released prior to the airing of this episode, but it’s still needed anyway. Again, thank you.
Get ready for a surplus of Little Busters!

  5. Thanks for doing Ghost, err, Little Busters! 😀
Don’t bust a kneecap or something, so you can keep doing this!

  6. My lord that was GOOD. JC Staff really suprirsed me with how close they stuck to the source material. So good. Thanks for the release! keep up the good work 😀

  7. thanks for the hard work guys, one thing though, are you blocking IP addresses from the Philippines? because one day I can access the site just fine, now I have to use a proxy, whats up?

  8. Maybe it’s because I haven’t played the game (or even heard of the game before now, really), but this one put me right to sleep. I’ll probably watch one or two more, but my gut feeling is that this will get a “pass.” Nonetheless, I see you’re making lots of people happy about it, so I’ll just say a general thanks for all you do!

  9. A shame you’re spending your time subbing this crap while there are other actually good shows this season.
    Aanyway…

  10. Thanks for subbing Little Busters!. For those talking crap about this, if they make a good adaptation of this it’s ten times better than any show this season.

  11. >This shit better not have delayed SAO
    >crap
Suddenly I feel urge to hit some people, but whatever. Thanks for the subs, and a fast one at the top of that!

  12. Little Busters! Another great story from Key… It’s gonna be another tear jerker TT_TT Key BANZAI! UTW BANZAI! Mazui BANZAI!

  13. Hm… Spoke too soon.
What up with the (seemingly) arbitrary name changes? This is most unexpected, especially coming from you guys.

  14. Geh, yet another Key game I have to finish before watching the anime… Which is annoying since I can’t just play the routes I want before completing all the routes I don’t want to play… -__-
Anyway, was anyone else first impression of Masato also: “Not enough muscle!”?

  15. Just as with all Key works, this show should not be judged by its first appearance. They tend to have a lot of depth (although, when all was said and done, I thought Little Busters was still inferior to Clannad).
Having said that, I will not be watching this show, though. It’s a general principle of not watching adaptations when I already know the source material. I already know the story, so an adaptation can offer nothing new and only disappointment.

  16. Thank you so much for the sub! I love the game so I hope this will be just as good.
Also I kinda agreed with the posts above, the name changes seemed a little pointless and kinda killed the joke, since you hear the name they are saying. Obviously that choice is up to you guys, it just seemed silly from the point of view of someone watching
Either way thanks for the great subs!

  17. Same BGM as the visual novel? Check. Same little details like Rin’s “no control” title and Kyousuke’s fancy clound background for the “famous words” scene? Check. Same voices for many a character? Check.
My friends, this is going to be a glorious series.

  18. So, to those who seam to be expecting something from the anime.. have you played the novel?
I have, and it sucks. So I CAN say it’s crap.

  19. @Copy
Yeah when I played the novel I thought it was Rin talking until I realised that it was Riki (who seems like he hasn’t hit puberty yet, at 17 years of age to boot)

  20. @Revelations
Well, that would be because Rin and Riki had the same seiyuu in the VN, so that kind of mistake is super easy to make.

  21. Awesome for first episode! But I think the karaoke needs something more (especially the ED). Anyway, good work!

  22. Seems noones pointed this out, so a note for the eventual v2 at mid/end-season:
Dialogue: 9,0:06:23.55,0:06:27.48,Default,,0,0,0,,I was the start of an exciting life for me.
Pretty sure that should be ‘It’

  23. Never played the VN and i can’t say i’m drawn in that much from the first episode, but hey i often feel like that with Key stories so i’ll give it a go. It’s nice to hear familiar voices though (sup Yoshino)
1 thing is for certain, i want to punch Sasami…. in the face…. WITH A CHAIR!

  24. The episode and translation qualities of this group are usually high but the karaoke for the songs remind me of the bland romanji only or English only yellow subtitles of the nineties. At the very least please include the kanji and hiragana version.

  25. Not getting my hopes up for this one, since it’s not done by Kyo-Ani like the other Key VN anime adaptations (still quite annoyed about that…)…But who knows, maybe J.C Staff will positively surprise me…I sure hope so…

  26. @satsugai i’m back
@Forte yeah, we noticed and fixed it in the SD (HD will be v2’d or sth). thanks though!

  27. Well, I don’t know… of the three new shows (Shinsekai Yori, Chuunibyou and this one) it seems like the less promising first episode. It was a funny episode, but not too catchy. Guess the fact that I don’t know squat about baseball and haven’t played the game is affecting my judgement too… on the other hand, everyone seems so happy about this show. Is it really that good?

  28. @dieglog
People are mostly happy about it because it seems to be (so far) fairly faithful to the game, and the game is very popular.

  29. @Pingback
Their general translation of the show is good (which is as expected, UTW and Mazui are good groups), but the “Fido” and “Melvin” thing is retarded. It’s also worth pointing out that none of the staff have bothered to respond to all the complaints about it, which I think is worthy of critique.

  30. Alright guys, listen up. For those of you who are annoyed with how they changed some of the things around, you have to understand that it would make MUCH more sense for those who never played the game. They are trying to translate Japanese puns for goodness sake.
Burdock > snails because snails sound similar to scales. Much more than burdock at least.
Saitou > Melvin because Melvin sounds more like morning. Ever thought of that?
Honestly, even if you know a little bit of Japanese, that doesn’t mean that it should be translated literally all the time just because you as a viewer knows enough Japanese. Not everyone does.
Also, who really cares about the Pochi > Fido anyway? They are relatively the same thing. These are NOT troll subs. These are rather well done translations if you ask me. OUTSTANDING considering how fast they released it. Give it some thought next time. Seeing that it’s UTW and Mazui, maybe they had some good reasoning as to why they changed a few things around.

  31. @Balance: ya know, that’s why TLnote has always existed alongside fansubbed animu.
I for one do not think of morning when I see Melvin. It’s just not a suitable replacement.
Pochi and Fido are relatively the same? In what language? There’s absolutely no reason to change it in the first place, it’s just trollin

  32. “Pochi” doesn’t make you think of a dog when you hear it, and the joke wouldn’t work. Fido, however, does.
As for “I’m Melvin,” just try saying it like “umMELvan” or something. Surprise; you can actually make it sound like Good Morning! The “goon mugging” one was further off, but it’s still appropriately random.
Really, the only people who’d complain about what UTW-Mazui did are stupid insecure weaboos. People who know Japanese will appreciate their creativity, and people who don’t will still get the jokes anyway. Why all the butthurt?

  33. @wtf: Pochi is Japan’s version of Fido. That’s what I’m trying to say. Kind of like how every country has a different onomatopoeia for different sounds. “In what language?” They’re two different languages. What in the world are you trying to point out here? Also, TL Notes are dead. Hardly ever seen them in any release. Kind of glad.
As uh, “lolweaboos” has mentioned above, when you say it all at once, it does kind of sound like “Good Morning.” If I remember correctly, fotc wanted to use something different but his suggestion was declined.

  34. @lolweaboos
“Really, the only people who’d complain about what UTW-Mazui did are stupid insecure weaboos. People who know Japanese will appreciate their creativity, and people who don’t will still get the jokes anyway. Why all the butthurt?”
Wtf? I criticise their changing of certain names, and you call me stupid, insecure, and a weaboo? What’s your problem? Damn jerk, why don’t you go to hell? I like UTW and have followed them for a long time, and I also like the general translation for this show, and I said so. I just don’t like the Melvin and Fido thing. You don’t “translate” names. They’re names, they should be left as they are. It’s completely arbitrary. And Pochi DOES make me think of a dog, since I’ve watched quite a bit of anime, and know that the name is a common Japanese name for dogs. I’m not insecure, and I’m certainly not stupid. Your immature name-calling and raging makes me think you’re much more of a butthurt weaboo than all the rest of us. Pot calling the kettle black.
    Also, @Balance
You’re using those crocodile mouths the wrong way. What you’re saying and the way you use them don’t match. It should be Saitou < Melvin if you're trying to argue that Melvin is better. Just sayin'.

  35. What about the people who haven’t watched enough anime to have come across Pochi? I assure you, this applies to the overwhelming majority of fansub viewers. In fact, I challenge you to name an anime you’ve recently watched where Pochi the dog was a prominent character.
Your incredible rage has also proven that you’re butthurt and insecure. Way to go.
And for the record, Balance was simply indicating the direction of translation with those arrowheads, not which is superior. Not stupid, huh?

  36. Hm… I’m not American and I didn’t even know the meaning of the word Fido or its relevance.
It is kind of sad that TL notes have faded away because it was something that was extremely useful and something that could only be done by fansubs because of their more targeted audience (even though some official releases have TL notes).
For instance, you could have (Pochi is a common dog name in Japan.), etc… Not to mention, it would prevent a ton of bitching, inform the audience and help those who don’t know much American culture to get the joke as well.
To be fair, I could see where they were coming from with regards to the snails, Fido and Melvin. However, what I couldn’t wrap my head around was the turning of ‘manga’ into ‘comics’. I can get people not knowing the meaning of Pochi and using Melvin to get a joke across, but who doesn’t know the meaning of manga?
In the end, all I’m saying is that I hope I won’t see onigiri being translated as doughnuts (jelly-filled) in the future …and for the sake of everyone’s sanity, I pray that future episodes of LB! won’t have anymore stupid puns.
Also, in response to previous Weaboo accusations: While I can’t speak for everyone, most of the time, literal translation fans are looking to keep in the Japanese names/words/idioms/puns/jokes/cultural terms in because we want an accurate-as-possible translation, not because we think that one language or culture is superior to another.

  37. Rokudaime, I’m fully aware of how to use crocodile mouths. I used them in this occasion to create direction as I didn’t really feel the need to find the alt code for a proper arrow symbol. Also, I feel as though UTW-Mazui were going more for the interpretation rather than direct translation. Alas, it is their choice and I honestly doubt they will change their mind. We all have our preferences and we’ll just have to stick to what the groups decide on.
Also, to be fair “lolweaboos”, you’re being a bit of a douche. While I understand what you’re saying, the accusations you are making are not necessary.

  38. Dat OP. I sure missed that song.
So yeah. This is happenening. Sometimes I wonder: “Why am I doing this to myself?”

  39. @Balance
Understood. I didn’t know that was what you meant, and yes, I’m the type who prefers literal translations, and I’m also a bit of a purist.
    @lolweaboos
In response to your first paragraph:
Listing anime I’ve recently watched would be pretty impossible, since I’ve barely watched any for a long time now, since I don’t have time due to my University studies.
In response to your second paragraph:
I don’t know what incredible rage you’re talking about, you seem more mad than me, and I believe you were throwing out insults first. Usually with most people, when someone insults you unjustified, you would be annoyed. Again, pot calling the kettle black. To the extreme at this point. You come across to me as an insecure and butthurt teenager right now.
In response to your final paragraph:
I don’t see how I was supposed to know that. Common mistake. Also, you felt the need to call me stupid again as well, further proving my point that, like Balance said, you’re the one being a douche.

  40. Is there a reason the 480p mp4 is accepted by iTunes, but crashes out with an error if you try to play it on iOS 6?
