About Our Second Show
So, the mysterious replacement show we had decided on was Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin, but Crunchyroll pulled the troll on us and announced their simulcasting it like 4 hours before airtime. Similar to what happened with Highschool of the Dead, we’ve decided there’s also little to no point in subbing Occult Gakuin, even though it breaks my heart because it is god-tier anime and everyone should watch it. I suggest watching Commie’s version, which, from a brief skim of the script and what little I remember of the dialogue, seems like a solid release.
Unfortunately, this means we’re wracking our brains as to what to do for our second show. At this point, pretty much all other viable alternatives have been covered:
Mitsudomoe – Subbed by FFFpeeps. It’s not really my kind of show either, and responses from the other staff are lukewarm at best.
Asobi ni Iku Yo! – Shows like this are a massive turn-off for me and extremely boring to sub. Ershin is going to give this a watchthrough and decide after that, but you can pretty much bet that we won’t be picking it up.
Strike Witches 2 – … Why I’m even bothering to mention this show I have no idea.
Shiki, Legend of Legendary Heroes, Sengoku Basara 2, Sekirei 2, Nurarihyon no Mago – All licensed by Funimation.
Seitokai Yakuindomo – Already subbed by Ryuumaru, which our timer commander`A runs. We of course endorse his version.
… which leaves us with pretty much nothing else. In other words, it’s very likely that the only show we’ll be doing for Summer 2010 is Amagami SS (which, to ease the minds of some of you, we have zero intention of dropping).
Of course, this means that we free up time to work on BD releases, OVAs, movies, and the like. Please understand that we’d much rather not pick up a second show than waste our time and effort subbing a show some other group/licensing company is already doing.
sadly, with Funimation deciding to suddenly license like 15 shows this season, this is probably what will happen. Of course, this means we free up time to work on OVAs, movies, and the like.

well….u have ur right to not pick second show this season…..and i agree with u….u can concentrated with BD release, OVA, movies, etc.

I dual-watched your’s and Eclipse’s release and damn, Eclipse sucks. Only nice was the OP Style, but nothing else. Usually I go with Eclipse, but you are lightyears ahead.
I’d love to see you sub Sekimatsu Occult Gakuin, though. Watching crunchy makes my head … yeah, crunch. Guess you’d put a hell more effort into quality than they would ever do.

I echo PLH in saying that Senko no Night Raid is in dire needs for a sub group to actually sub it. The show’s done airing and not a single group has past the half way point!
While I’d love to see you do Seikimatsu (just finished watching the first episode myself), I’d also really like to finish this show. It’s good.

The quality of what has already been released is very high, but that doesn’t change that every other group has been very slow putting out each episode. (as blackbunnie has translated up to episode 9 or 10 iirc)

I’d rather not understand something than get distracted by wrong translations (crunchy, coalguys) and overuse of “fuck”s (ryuumaru).

I know it’s licensed, but what about subbing Legend of the Legendary Heroes after all? Even tough it’s licensed, there is no simulcast in sight, and the first episode has been unsubbed for a week (yeah, I know some guy named “Guess” subbed it, but it was horrible, the translator doesn’t even speak japanese).
At this rate if some company decides to licence every damn show for fall 2010, I guess that means UTW won’t be doing any projects anymore

I don’t want to come off as an asshole, cause maybe there’s something I’m missing, but based on the trailer I saw, I can’t for the life of me understand why Asobi ni Iku yo is getting so many requests. It looks like it was ripped straight from an eroge.

Ershin.. for me.. I mean I think it looks almost loosely like To-Love-Ru and Kanokon (concept wise — harem/ecchi/Huge Boobed female lead/Comedy).. which those shows had decent fanbases.. Sure its not going to be some huge thought provoking plot or storyline.. You should be able to tell that from the trailer..
There are a lot of fans to that genre.. Hence the requests.. I know Ill be watching it.

I have to agree with lopuki on the first page… Legend of the Legendary Heroes may be licensed, but they’re doing absolutely nothing with the series at the moment (I don’t see even the slightest mention of it on their site) so it wouldn’t be a waste of time at all!
(Forgive me if you have a moral issue against subbing licensed series or anything though)

Sorry to hear that you’re not planning on picking up Asobi ni Iku Yo!; hopefully another group I like will take it on. Still, this gives you time to concentrate on Amagami SS, which is good, and also to work on individual movies and Blu-Rays as they come out so it’s not all bad.

Legend of Legendary Heroes – Funi stream is terrible quality (HorribleSubs uses their stream) and Guess’ subs are beyond terrible.

From what I hear the translation for LOLH is nearly perfect, and by perfect it’s near flawless. Grab Commie’s releases for the show, you should be happy. The editors/tlcs/etc all told me the same thing, that the translator did a top notch job for the show so try your luck 🙂

Please sub “Asobi ni Iku Yo!” I don’t know of any group which is doing it and am really looking forward to it. It looks like it’s going to be a hybrid of To Love Ru and Sekirei.

commander’A is suffering the effects of “real-life-itis” at the moment. So for the next 3-4 weeks Seitokai Yakuindomo will be a bit slower than usual. He’ll be back to doing stuff as usual after that though, so you can expect his typical fast releases from around episode 5 onwards. He told us about it in advance though, so it’s all good. If the delay is too much to bare, I would recommend grabbing Godspeed Subs in the meanwhile, I checked out their episode 2 and the translation wasn’t too bad at all. The translator seemed to grasp the jokes pretty well which is important with this show.
