A riddle, of sorts

This, ladies, is my new coffee mug. After the break you will be given a better photograph.

My questions are:

  • Which work of fiction was used to produce the cloud printed on my mug? (10 points)
  • Which part of it was used to produce this tell-tale distribution? Note that I removed a name from the list which would have given it away, and increased the weight of 狂気 and 愛 for stylistic reasons. (990 points)

Passing grade is 50%.

  4. You should’ve used more contrasted red and green letters, and some handwritten font such as Aoyagi or Onryo.

I couldn’t use custom fonts. I kind of like the subdued colors, though.

  7. It’s the inside that matters. Particularly when it comes to coffee mugs.

  18. yeah, fk ur points.

  19. I just know some characters similar to
Bakemonogatari
here. Don’t know the rest

  20. i’m surprised it wasn’t Kusion who made this post. but then again this post had no trollolol elements.

To all the people thinking it’s Nisemonogatari because of the :walloftext:, what you’re seeing is a tag cloud of moonrunes. Just like the English one at the right side of this page.
In other words, it’s not Nisemonogatari or anything which is going to air next season. It’s something which already exists…

  22. Saya no Uta seems to be too obvious an answer to be correct. Furthermore, doesn’t 沙耶食 go against the fact that a name was removed so that it would not be that easy to guess. Or maybe there was yet another name which has been removed, like a name of a character
who got devoured by Saya.
But when I read Saya no Uta, my Japanese was not good enough to let me read the original, so how could I tell? orz

  23. I don’t know why but I have a feeling it has something to do with ‘Denpa teki na Kanojo’
狂氣 and 彼女 might have led me to it.

    I miss my Ginga sundays..

  25. A name was removed that would have made the chapter from which it was taken easy to guess. I did not remove all names. There have been some correct answers for question 1 so far, but no correct answer for 2. Any ideas?
    @ Matteas
沙耶食 are two words with the same weight, so they have the same color and size. It’s a bit misleading that they’re next to each other, but you’re not meant to merge 沙耶 and 食.

I presume a different color means a different work. I think MashiroIro Symphony is one as I see 愛 and 色 in there. Saya no Uta is most probably another as 郁紀 (Fuminori) and 沙耶(saya) are on it.

  27. The whole cloud is from a single work of fiction, obviously, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense to ask you about the chapter.

Oumi going to Fuminori’s house, meeting Saya and getting eaten?

  29. fuck the mug, where are the episodes ?

  30. Hitagi crab? I see her stapling Koyomi in the corridor. And also she is known to be a girlfriend of Koyomi. Does crab feature mucus?

  31. 物語
    nah, forget it

  32. prolly Saya not Uta where she screws up mc’s neighbor’s head.

  33. she as in Saya

    From this:
転 真 上 分 狂気 物 色 食 台所 窓 手 郁紀 廊下 外 冷 開 度 押 他人 誰 踏 呼 目
I’m also starting to presume that this is the scene where
Ōmi Takahata gets eaten
35. Saya no Uta has been translated for a while now. I don’t see why they would tease us with anything from it.

  39. Just use a travel mug, they keep it warmer, it’s impossible to spill them (depending on the mug), and are easier to drink from.
