The plot thickens every week. Great stuff.
The encoder’s not feeling too well this week, hence the slight delay. We know that a few signs at 15:50-16:10 in the video are missing, but the typesetter had already gone to bed during QC and it’s obvious what the sign says. They’ll be typesetted for the batch and the Bluray releases, of course.
Please enjoy this week’s Shinsekai Yori!
EDIT: Somehow managed to mux the wrong script, sorry about that. Please redownload the v2 release or use the patch linked above to fix the v1.

Yup, font is terribly small. I’ll assume there’s a patching coming.

I think you guys muxed the wrong script. You’ve left out the styles and by the looks of it, TS.

So, when will we get this episode with all the styles that should be in the script?

  7. The torrent has been taken down from Nyaa it seems. Or, broken link.

  8. Welp, waiting on patch.

  9. I’m glad I didn’t download the previous release…

With two Shin Sekai Yori releases in one day, the end of my day has just been topped off with excellence. As always, thanks you for your efforts. I look forward to watching both today’s episode and the Blu-ray release.

    This show.
    This effing show.

  16. I love this show, but I hate where they decide to stop the episodes.

Helluva new world, eh? Dare to seek the truth, and Big Committee might just rewrite your life for you. If you get to keep it, that is. This dark milieu with its sunny side up is quite enthralling to watch.
    Thanks for your efforts, folks!

  18. The frack? Is it just me or does Satoru’s grandma look like she’s in her late twenties/early thirties? Guess I really shouldn’t be surprised at this point.

  19. Popover on December 8, 2012 at 8:13 am said:

This episode felt like it was 10 minutes long. I hate it when shows absorb you in that much.

  20. Haunting episode as always. . . but still. . .
Saki, you and your friends were just uncovering”truths best left forgotten”™ when two people show up out of no where and ask you to come meet the leader of the Ministry of Tru- err Ethics Committee and you just waltz off with them?
Of course it would be suicide to try to actively resist, but there is barely even a passive “Oh Shi-” moment
Also I am now thinking the whole thing that Narrator!Saki said at the beginning about Maria being the cause of countless deaths is due to Momoru. He is all emotionally fragile and naive but has been chasing Maria since they were 12 and seems to have finally gotten her and if something happens to him I see Maria snapping HARD.

  23. DEHM! I really think this series has got to be the best recently..and memory modification would really explain how the kids are so indifferent to their classmates being put on the bus..

Thank you for the release. I have a big fever myself, hopefully we will be better soon Encoder dude.
I hope that the guy that directed episodes 10 and 5 work in some episodes still, I really liked those two, i’m aware that many disliked 5 but when I watch something that seem unnusual I generally feel good about it, it’s nice to see something new.

    Significantly intrigued by the preview…

    Zed: Plausible. *nods*

The ‘too weak to handle reality’ concept tends to irritate me when I come across it, usually in the context of people defending religion. Granted, for religion my argument is generally that it wouldn’t be a shock if you raised people with reality as the only known default in the first place, but that indeed isn’t applicable here (except arguing against the societal structure).
    |
…There is (within the bounds of a given fiction or non-fiction) only one reality. Isn’t saying you don’t want to live in it equatable with saying that you want to die? In the first place, are you qualified to be alive if you can’t live with reality? Humanity in general and {individual humans specifically} start out knowing nothing, then driven by curiosity experiment and learn more and more about the world, that knowledge increasing their power and creativity and understanding about all things in existence. To suggest that there are things better not known fundamentally conflicts with this process, and is hard to fathom.
    |
Perhaps ‘if you find out these things we’ll kill you’ is a practical reason, but truth taken by itself is only useful. Reality is reality is reality. Reality has been reality since we first awoke in it, and it is normal. Lies and illusions can be cruel and cause pain, and one can wish to be free of them so that one does not suffer such pain and such interference with one’s understanding of reality. If you end up on the wrong path of two paths when going to the sea, then if you never admit you’re on the wrong path then maybe you’ll die in the mountains, still on the path, never having faced that you’re not on the path to the sea, but /you’ll never reach the sea/. If you want to live in reality, then look at it. If you don’t want to live in reality, then don’t live in it and free more of it up for those who do. There is only one reality to live in, whether you want to live or not.

  28. They really onto Saki and friends now. The Ethics Board really want to tie-up the loose end and preserve their society way of life; by hook or by crook. They sounded like secret police to me. I’m guessing the next episode where things really fall apart in Saki life.
I’m guess they already 15 years old and the society programming dictates that the teenagers encourage to interact with the opposite sex which ensure the survival of the PK in the future. Though the Bonobos programming still in-effect and it will gradually disappear when they hit the legal age for marriage.

  29. Thanks

Is it just me or was the art not abysmal this ep?

    >This rope here is brand-new too.
    Take out the hyphen, pl0x.
Unless the adjective precedes a noun, the adjective doesn’t need a hyphen:
A brand-new rope vs The rope is brand new.
