So yeah, first episode of our first new show for Spring 2010.
There were way too many signs in this episode.  From what I remember from the manga, it doesn’t look like there’ll be any less signs in subsequent episodes either.  *Pats Bob64*
EDIT:: Just released a v2, which adds in romaji karaoke, styling, and fixes one typo.  Screenshots of the new styling can be found HERE, HERE, and HERE.
We decided to not do Japanese lyrics, since it wouldn’t display right unless you enabled Japanese language support, or if we hardsub it (and hardsubbing is for losers).  It’s also for this reason the romaji karaoke is basic, and doesn’t have flashbangy effects flying all over the place.
For those of you who already downloaded the previous version, you can use this patch HERE to update the release (works for both previous versions).

Thanks for the release (and for providing the patch so I don’t have to re-download the entire episode).

That’s not correct. You just need to save the script as UTF-8 to display the Japanese correctly. Well, not that the Japanese is important or anything, just saying.

That’s not quite right either. From past experience, we’ve had scripts saved in UTF-8 and muxed them. Those who did not install Japanese Language support on their OS saw only boxes where the Japanese characters were supposed to be.

  7. Raze is pretty much right~ You still need japanese character support to display japanese characters correctly in most cases. Unicode should work but it doesn’t always. ;\

Japanese character support is automatically enabled ever since win6… but there are still people who insist on using XP.
Everyone who watches anime should have it enabled though, those 3xx MB additional space is not the end of the world… an average anime ep in HD consumes more.

  9. Thank Yukari-himesama that someone awesome that is doing this.

Raze: actually, to guarantee proper Japanese text for people without Japanese support enabled, what you should do is mux a Japanese font into the mkv with ASS/SSA in UTF-8 (and specify that font in the styling). It’s easy enough to do, but will add ~12 MB to the file sizes.
Of course, you could just mux in two ASS/SSA, one with Japanese and one without, then set the one without Japanese as default. Then you don’t have to mux in a font and the people who want Japanese get it, and those who don’t have support won’t see boxes instead of text.

You can actually mux in a smaller font if you’d like, as long as it has the characters you need. But it’s a pain to go so far above the call of duty, and you still can have users over-ride the fonts or use crappy media players, so it’s a toss-up. Anyway, thanks for providing the best B Gata and also for the v2 patches!

Thanks for all your hard work, and for providing the patch.
One thing it didn’t correct, however, is the chapter timing for Part 1 which is set to 00:01:12… exactly the same set point as the OP. Part 1 should start at around 00:02:52.
