Joint venture with FFF.
Now that the show is over, and we have jointly exercised our constitutional rights, we would like to leave you with one very important thought.
Sometime in the future, you may have the opportunity to serve as a juror in a so-called obscenity case. It would be wise to remember that the same people who would stop you from viewing this film may be back next year to complain about a book, or even a TV program.
If you can be told what you can see or read, then it follows that you can be told what to say or think.

Thank you.

Here’s the next episode! At this rate we’ll be finished by 2016 ._. Oh well, enjoy! Railgun S 12 will be coming later today probably as I’m still typesetting it.

So it’s been a while since the first episode, but we were waiting for the batch to be finished before releasing more episodes. This will probably be the only release before the Blu-rays are finished, of which there is 3 volumes left containing episodes 17-25. I’m enjoying re-watching this, so I hope you guys do too.
arEdit (16/05/2013): Seems there was a typesetting fix (by the studio) for the Home Release that we missed and will be fixed in the batch.
Episode 02 (00:06:06) Five Hundred Years Later -> Two Hundred Years Later.

It’s finally here! On behalf of the UTW-THORA team, I proudly present to you the third Rebuild of Evangelion movie!
UTW was only two months old when we released the EVA 2.22 movie almost three years ago, and at the time I wasn’t expecting to be working on the third movie. But here we are today, with pretty much the same team, but with three years extra experience!
We’ve teamed up with THORAnime once again to bring you this release. Head over to their site too to give them your thanks!
A few smallish translation/editing notes off the top of my head:
1) I’ve decided to translate パターン青 (literally “pattern blue”) as “blood type blue” in this release, in line with the official English rendition of the term. I used “pattern orange” in 2.22 (pattern blue was never spoken).
2) All other translations for in-universe terminologies are consistent with our 2.22 release, including “Battle Stations One/Two” (it’s translated as “Condition II” on-screen in the movie, but not only is it a somewhat lossy translation, it would also be a problem when we have to distinguish it from another formation later on, which we have translated as “Guard State One/Two”).
3) The term “Lilin” is treated as a collective noun (i.e. like the word “humanity”) in the release. It’ll make sense to those of you who know what the term refers to in the EVA universe.
4) The “networking” part of Asuka’s nickname for Mari (“Networking Four-eyes”) refers to how Mari supposedly used her network of acquaintances to become an EVA pilot (we used “Favored Four-Eyes” in the preview). I thought it was a closer translation than what we had before (read here for more info) but the meaning seems to be lost to some of you, so I apologize for that.
Special thanks go to fnord, Minami, and archdeco for their work on the ED kara.
Please enjoy!

Here’s the Accel World EX02 special! Definitely a fun watch if you enjoyed the series.
__ar decided that he’d do 1080p encodes of the two specials, so you can grab them from the link above. Hopefully I’ll find the time to QC a few more Accel World episodes so the BD groups using our scripts can make some progress.
I’m hoping to get the batches for both Accel World and Sword Art Online out before the next season starts, but this will be subject to my IRL workload and, perhaps more importantly for the latter, whether my teammates also find time to do the batch work. It’s late, I know, but late is better than never!

Here are the BD releases for Fate/Zero Season 2! They contain:

 • Episodes 14-25 (UTW subs)
 • Please! Einzbern Consultation Room Specials 4-6
 • Drama CD 2

A few of the episodes contain extra scenes scattered throughout. There were no commentary tracks.
I’ve decided not to translate the Drama CD this time; my very limited time would be much better spent on my other projects, and I’m sure you’d rather get this batch now than several months later.
I’ve also decided to change the translation for 正義の味方 from “hero” (with a lowercase “h”) in the TV releases to “champion of justice” for these Blurays. The latter is clunkier, but this is to avoid confusion with 英雄, which is translated to “Hero” (with an uppercase “H”).
I’ve delayed your enjoying these releases long enough; have at them! Thanks for sticking with us all this while!
P.S.: The DDL folders contain only the last three Einzbern specials for now. We’ll get around to uploading the rest sometime.
arEdit: Doh. Fonts for the OP got missed on Ep24, so added patches for that.

Here you go: the Carnival Phantasm Special Episode that came with the Type-Moon Festival BD Box. I will admit this is late, but I won’t apologize because you’re technically lucky to be getting this now and not half a year later given my ridiculous workload studying the healing arts!
Please note that these releases are 10-bit, unlike the original 12 episodes which were encoded in 8-bit. Not that it should matter at this point.
If I had to comment about this episode, it would be that I’m somewhat glad the “Date Everyone” route came out on top in the online poll.
I really don’t know when the batch for Carnival Phantasm will be ready, but you can expect some progress to be made during school breaks. As for how the Fate/Zero Season 2 BDs are coming, I’m halfway done with translating the final Einzbern special as of writing this post. The rest of the batch is as good as ready, so I’m hoping to throw it out mid-February.

Aye so here is Episode 2, and we’ll try and get some more episodes released (if possible) in the next couple of weeks. Raze’s priority is on Fate/Zero, so after he’s finished that he might have some time to work on this show some more before he goes back to University.
Also there was some hurfing about banding in ep01 by certain people compared to another groups release which was covered in grain (which hides some of the banding). The problem lies in how Shaft handled the gradients (and most likely doing some silly resizing practices), and while this has already been debanded heavily, some gradients just can’t be fixed that easily. I really don’t have the time nowadays to be scene-filtering and creating hand-made masks every time stuff like this occurs and can’t just be easily fixed, so if some people aren’t happy without it being covered in grain (see: f3kdb) to hide the banding, feel free to grab the other group’s release. Please note that if I took that route, I would also need to raise the bitrate even higher to make it look acceptable in my eyes, because that’s just how it is.

Uh so where to start. This wouldn’t have been possible without everybody involved since the project first started as a yesy BD release and up until now when it became a UTW side project pretty much.
The story goes that it was first started by my bro goof who then had RL shit come up, and I took lead on the project with EighthSin as my right hand man, who put a ton of time and effort into translating this nearly from scratch. I asked Kusion to help edit and he managed to stall it for 10 months (like a boss~), and then Xythar came on board to help out with the editing and gave Kusion the kick in the ass he needed to finish stuff up!
So a huge thanks goes out to EighthSin, Kusion, Xythar, Raze, fnord, Daiz, Tormaid and also to the original guys involved: Desolo, KingArthur, sportsrmyname, goof, and anybody I forgot. Also thanks to the Pixiv artist for this awesome pic~
Also this was encoded from the Italian BDs and it’s finally done so yay. We all really enjoyed this series, so having a chance to work on it ex-TV was nice, and hopefully we’ve done a job worthy of this show.
Merry Christmas guys, and hope you enjoy this present (it just somehow worked out like this!).

Ok so this volume only contained the first episode, the following 8 volumes will have 3 episodes each. Also we are doing BDs for this show because we actually like it and don’t mind working on it again unlike most shows.
First thing’s first though, to answer a few questions.
Q: WHY ARE YOUR BD ENCODES SO BIG WHEN THE HDTV ONES WERE LIKE HALF THE SIZE OF THE 720p and 1/8TH THE SIZE OF THE 1080p? PLZLEARNTOENCODE YOU FAGGOTS.
A: Simple answer really, Blu-rays recommended bitrate for video (around 40-42mbps) allows for quite decent encoding quality and also gives the authorer some overhead to play with to produce a nicer quality home video release. This means that things like banding, blocking, etc can be managed much better than in the DVD days. With the advent of like 4 times the bitrate of DVD video and a much more efficent codec (H.264 vs MPEG2 in all its badness), we are seeing a lot more being done to produce nicer looking retail releases. Basically for Anime this typically means the use of Digital Grain in various forms, along with fancy dithering algorithms, etc. A lot of the time, a more static approach to grain is taken which compresses a lot better, and some times looks better without it there anyway. What has been be done for this series was a more similar approach that’s done for live action films and media, basically really soft non-obtrusive highly dynamic Digital Grain. Being so dynamic and unpredictable it requires heavy bitrate overhead because it can’t be referenced a lot of the time and requires coding of many more blocks than otherwise would be used. Now you could remove it, but removing it looks even worse because then there is lolbanding and the backgrounds don’t take well to much debanding, and you basically get the TV broadcasts that have so much background detail missing or wiped out.
Q: WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE EPISODE RELEASED, REST WHERE?
A: This volume only has 1 episode, and the next one till the end will have 3 each.
If you don’t care about grain or background details, please just keep your tv encodes and don’t complain about the size. If 1080p is a little too big, get the 720p version, for which just the processing of resizing has naturally removed grain that was no longer needed at that reduction of pixels.
If you want to complain about size just because you are a faggot and think you can change the world with your naivety please do it elsewhere, lest we tell you how stupid you sound doing so.
The tl;dr is I tried taking a few different approaches and the one where keeping the more useful areas of the dynamic grain pretty close as I could turned out the nicest looking results. Static grain just made everything look cloudy, and debanding/removing the grain just made stuff look much closer to the TV broadcasts. Just remember that nobody is holding a gun to your head telling you to download something. Download it if it meets your needs otherwise just don’t.
I won’t keep filling this post up, but let me just say that other than some bit starvation related blocking that is a result of the dynamic grain effect that chewed up more bitrate at times than they could sustain even with 40mbps, these blu-rays seem to be a quite nice example of how HD content should be handled. They aren’t perfect, but overall this episode was fairly consistent and they handled most things pretty well.
Enjoy~
