“My body… is built of blades”
“Being right isn’t everything”
Way better than those other dumb sub. Can’t even understand why they can translate “体は剣で出来ている” to “Steel is my body”. So dumb.
“My body… is built of blades”
I’m not sure whether I like this better or was ok with it because Shirou is saying the UBW chant. Out of curiosity, was keeping the line “I am the bone of my sword” an option? Similar instance as well in the beginning of episode 10.
@crysis
It looks to me like “I am the bone of my sword” is the correct line but only if it is being said in English. Since Shirou said the first line in Japanese, using the literal translation “My body is made of swords” or in this case “My body is built of blades” is better.
The lack of the line “this body is made out of swords” honestly, was a bit of a downer.
Personally, I think that “my body is built of blades” sounds really awkward, simply because of the verb “built”.
Sure if we were talking about a construction i.e. a house, e.g. “My house is built of blades” I can see that working fine, but human beings are not artificial constructions made by other people.
To be made from something and to be built from something are two entirely different things.
For something to be built from anything, you would require the work of a living organism to do the “building”, so when something is built from something else, it is assumed that an organism has physically done that (in this context someone/something has built shirou out of blades).
Where as being “made” from something else is inherent in all things.
That said, it is a far better translation than crunchy roll’s and does get the message across leagues better than “steel is my body”.
Built, Body, Blades… I can see you’ve got an alliteration thing going on here too.
Sure it is ultimately down to personal preference and maybe I’m just being picky about the pinnacle line in this episode, but there really isn’t anything wrong with the original line from the VN.
“This body is made of swords” just seems far more simple and gets the meaning across a lot better.
It isn’t particularly fancy, but its just as impactful.
Just my two cents.
I agree that “my body is built of blades” is awkward, but not for the reasons you bring into the table.
An easy fix to the line would be “My body is built out OF blades”, or better yet, “This body is built out of blades/swords”. You have to make Shirou sound as impersonal as you can.
That said, I didn’t even notice the line. I was to busy getting goosebumps at the scene in general, and the original line is pretty much common knowledge nowadays.
This torrent is episode 19.
Thank you 😀
bones and swords
Cutten it close ¬_¬
Thanks 😉
Thanks for the subs.
Am I correct to presume that this episode took longer because of the insert-song?
No you are not. It took longer because people were dying from ridiculous heatwaves and our translation checker didn’t want to be one of those people.
Thank you, as always.
Way better than the “that you’re correct doesn’t mean you’re righ” shit.
Your translations are, as always, top notch.
Thanks!
SKILL!
Thanks so much for the episode!
Not to be rude, but what’s the status on Im@S?
Ahh~ Lovely episode
“I am the bone of my sword~~”
Nicely done. Thanks for the quality!
Thank you!

I’ll wait for you, UTW.
Always.
@Deufo
>not saying “I’ll wait for you…TW”
Disappointing. Unlike UTW’s work on this show. (O‿<)b

How do you deal with it, ar? How do you do it?
Ignorance is bliss!
