The end of this episode was pretty HHNNNGGGHHH.
This week was rough. Usual encoder suddenly disappeared on me, and commander`A saved us all by encoding. Also, I am a retarded loser for forgetting to credit Kusion, who timed the episode (not commander`A, he was busy encoding), and pretty much single-handedly saved our script from certain doom by pointing out random typos. Even though everyone slaved away to make up for lost time, we released… approximately two hours later than we did last week. Oh well.

Here’s the fixed script I encoded the XviD with earlier on today before I fell asleep. We picked up that mistake like 15mins after release lol but thanks. 🙂

Ouch. I think I’m at least partially to blame for that one. The original line was “So I’m taking a bed”, and if I remember correctly, I suggested it be changed to “So I’m borrowing a bed”. Oh well, with as many lines as this show has, it’s probably a good thing if we get off with only one error. >_<

Good taste, ar. I’m liking her, Miya’s friend (can’t remember her name, but yay twintails!), Rihoko, and of course, Miya herself. ^_^
In my view, correct translation (which includes not localising to the extent the original line is lost in translation) is far more important than spelling/grammar, and you guys nail the first and do well on the latter (very well, if speed is considered), so good work.
It’s just that I don’t see a ‘dedicated’ QC on your staff roster (one who probably isn’t bored of working on the script because they’ve been involved in some past step), and I’m guessing only one of your editors works on each episode, so getting a QC might help lower the error rate.
There are some problems with the kanji typesetting.

We do what we call “clusterfuck qc”~. The whole group (who is around) checks the script and looks for errors, but yeah things still get missed even with multiple QC passes. I’ve even missed stuff watching the subs muxed before, it happens. I guess being in a rush for time doesn’t help the situation out, and having worked on something for 6+ hours straight.
We did try our best to catch what we could though, but somehow something always manages to slip past!

This has the kanji in it. The Kana was removed for compatibility sake or something I believe. Anyway i’ve put the font + script with kana in it at the link above if you want to mux it yourself.

Did anyone noticed? Audio in ep 2 after commercial break is a bit strange. It is around 12:30 ’till end. I feel like hearing MP3 with 64 kbps bit rate. I also compared it with ep 1. Please someone confirm this, is this just my feeling or others also got the same problem.

It’s the source or the stream, the problem is out of our hands though. If anything I’d say personally it’s the source audio from the studio since all they do on broadcast is encode it to AAC as far as I know.

Probably for the x264 release, but I’ll be encoding the XviD with the kana included. Which means I’ll have to retime it anyway and I usually mux it for my own personal archive too so it’s not really any effort throwing a retimed script up each week.

I’d also be wary of having too many QC, because I know I do lazy QC when that happens, “if I don’t catch it, someone else will!”

I’ll throw you a link to a separate script up if you ask 🙂 I make one up for the XviD encode anyway. I guess we can probably put a second script up with a special tag on it like Kana_Karaoke or something. I’ll talk with Raze about it when he’s around anyway. If not you can just ask for it and I’ll put a link up.

A character in the subtitles during the OP shows up as a box for me. Looking at the script, it’s a music note. What do I need in order to display it properly?

Basically just wrap the music note in {\fe} tags. This should force shift-JIS encoding for the music note and it might fix it up.
Obviously mux the new script into a different mkv and check out if it plays properly or not.
Let me know, because if it does fix it. I’ll use \fe tags around it from now on.

I had exactly the same character display as Crest reported earlier… I’m using MPC-HC (cccp) with CoreAVC Pro. Wrapping the music note in {\fe} tags worked for me.

Hi, I also noticed the glitching/frame corruption on my file too >.<
I just wanted to ask if any of the staff at UTW could please take a look at the mkv file posted here, and if its okay with any one who can manage, to fix any noticeable damage (the aforementioned frame corruption, I don't know what else to call it sorry) on the file. I'm kinda stubborn and I feel if I leave to another fansubbing service I'm betraying UTW's hard work xP.
