So this makes another episode down, only one more until Volume 1 is finished (finally!), then it’ll be onto Volume 2. Since I blogged all I had to blog yesterday I’ve got nothing much extra to add.
We now bring you today’s feature presentation.

Can someone rate this series for me..Not sure if I should pick it up or not..Graphics aren’t your typical anime graphics.. looks slightly like Ghost in the Shell….
What are the impressions so far from the people who’ve watched it?

if u like GiTS, then u will like this too, maybe the budget for this is lower
thx for the BD version 🙂

  5. Appleseed XIII 02 is how I see the file listed @ baka updates…While I’m happy to have a hq version, I have 2 of the same file though they are listed as ep 01 and 02 on baka’s site…guess I got what I paid for, but I don’t feel super-inclined to upload 2to1 like normal. Its probably not your fault, just a FYI–this is the third version of the same file that I’ve DL’d and shared and I’d like to avoid doubling up or at least tripling FMA. Otherwise I highly recommend this series–it seems to lack a bit of the character development of GITS, but its animation is on par–and given the fact that there were 30-some-odd episodes of GITS, it isn’t a straight comparison anyway. Thanks for all the hard work.

  6. Only watched the first episode, and as I posted in the comments on that, it was a major disappointment. Very poor quality CG animation, awful character design, and very badly written. I knew what was going on since I know Appleseed, but if this were your first introduction to it … go get the original OVAs instead.
Not going to be watching this one any further.

I have to disagree with Tim. This series was a pleasant surprise. Being a longtime appleseed fan myself I have to say this was much closer to the manga than the cg movies ever were. The cg itself is also interesting since it uses cg models combined with textures that look drawn by hand which makes it look more like the manga. Looking forward to the remaining episodes.

Is it me or did the real-time renderer they used to make this series really sux? I’m getting , what looks like, massive lags in ep. 2 even though my MPC-HC says I’m getting a constant 23.976 fps no matter what codec I use (CoreAVC, LAV/LAV CUVID, MPC-HC built-in).

  9. @Anono…
Yeah thats the CG not the video itself lol. Some scenes are fine, others have jerky cg.

i’m trying this even though i don’t know anything and yeah it is kinda confusing… maybe this or the next episode will bring some light to what’s going on and who they are or so.

It looks like they’re taking huge shortcuts, probably to meet production deadlines. Animation, particularly the mouth for speaking is kind of jumpy and doesn’t always seem to coordinate.
Also some of the textures for things looks like there was an incomplete lighting render pass, so the colours look weird. The clothes for people are the most noticeable here. Even in the screencap for this ep, there’s no lighting raytrace in Deunan’s eyes, so the whites look flat. Also note that the shoulders and inside collar of her jacket don’t look right, kind of like they’re glowing with their own light, because the shadows from her head and neck aren’t laid out on it right.
Nothing wrong with the encode, this is all stuff that was there in the source material. It really looks like these guys didn’t have a good budget for this, or else their timeline is off, and they didn’t have enough time with the episode in the render farm.
Well, I can look past the tech details if the storyline is good enough, but this is at the point where the tech glitches are interfering with my appreciation of the story.
At least the mecha sequences look pretty good (Probably because they didn’t have to adjust facial stuff to match seiyuu.

  12. dropped, too confusing @.@

  13. Thx for the subbing, but the FileServe 1080p list is the EP01 not EP02

  14. Ops, my bad…horrible eyes

  15. Any updates for Ep.3?
