This is a rather depressing week for LN fans. Chapter 5 got skipped, along with a pair of great action scenes and a glimpse of Alfheim’s top treasure. This doesn’t much affect the storyline of this arc, but it excises some material that chills my optimism about the studio’s committment to produce future seasons.
On a positive note, stealth-Asuna is really adorable. And I may just have to use that end-card as my PC desktop. 🙂
I haven’t been able to download my anime lately due to my new cap and forced to watch low quality streams, but as soon as i saw this episode I came to see what you guys had to say about it. Did not disappoint haha

Agreed regarding the distressing ‘Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory’ feeling. It all working out in the end is comforting, however.
@ conga conlo, sorry to disappoint but im sure there was no tentacle goodness that happened. It happened the same way in the LN. To other LN readers, did they skip something? Just felt like they skipped the “awesome snowy place and the ult. treasure”? can’t remember if it happened before this episode or after.

I wanted to see how Tonkii looked like T_T a shame they skipped the whole Jotunheimr mini-arc but with so few episodes left I was expecting that… just didn’t want to accept it T_T. Anyways, let’s just hope we’ll get it the next season, Caliber MUST get animated, Sinon really shines in that story ~¬~

Whaat??? I haven’t seen this yet, but no Jotunheimr?? It was a pretty weak mini-arc, but to see it left out is a little sad… I have a feeling they gonna do an OVA of that though, or probably squeeze it in the 2nd season, plus of course the Excaliber arc and the 1st day anneal blade quest.
I felt so sorry for Sugu-chan. This is just too hard…

Thanks for the release! But! Why did they skip the part with Tonkii?!?! It’s an important part of ALO Arc, storywise.
This is the weakest episode i have seen so far. Nice, nothing spectacular. I miss some action.
And: for those of you guys missing boobs, Sword Art Online (and ALO too) is childproof by concept. So no boobs. Otherwise they would not show it.
I think Blu-Rays would be better so far.

Oh well… the anime is supposedly kid friendly so I guess that’s the best we’ll get… for now… They will probably end the anime with this arc and we’ll need to wait for a season 2 to see GGO… if there is a season 2…

Toki Episode will probably come with Excalibur and Mother Rosario in the next season, as GGO will hardly take all the season and Alicization will certainly take a whole season with 5 LN.

Just a side note from a perfectionist: in the ending credits, the line [And wish once more, “Someday, someday”] the two quotation marks are different. I don’t know if this has been pointed out before for the updated batch release, and I know it doesn’t impact the anime at all, but I thought I’d let you know just in case 🙂

I cannot understand why they skipped the Jotumheimer adventure. They did the first Fairy Dance LN in 5 episodes, there’s no reason why they couldn’t do the second one the same way. This show IS scheduled for 25 episodes, right? I heard that it was a long time ago. Or was it trimmed back to 24?
How involved is Kawahara Reki in the show’s development? If he is as involved as I herd he was, he may have a plan for introducing Tonkii during the Caliber-SS arc (assuming it gets animated) to lengthen it a bit. The GGO novels are a bit longer than ALO, so it’s not inconceivable that since it (Caliber SS) is short, it could round out season 2 along with Mother’s Rosario.
Any word on a second season at all, BTW? The show’s a hit, so there oughtta be one, right?

About boobs… (don’t read more if you don’t want a spoiler):
in that scene with the scientists using tentacle monster avatars, there is no mention of showing any, but it does occur later, and explicitly mentioned. There is no rape, just sadism and you should already guess by whom… How is the anime going to show this part is anyone’s guess. There is also some gore right after that, but i’ll bet they will skip it…
But what she did here wasn’t useless. i’m puzzled why they used a sound effect instead of showing, how she picked up the access card before being taken… its what makes everything else possible.
I’m feeling they wasted an episode by skipping the underground adventure. 4 episodes was more than enough to finnish the ALO arc.

Yes, of course “nobody care” about the fact that they skipped an entire sub-arc that not only shows something without which the final battle between Kirito and Suguou won’t make much sense, but will also be important if they ever make a second season for this.
Or rather, people who like reading do care. And there are people who like reading, contrary to what some think.
OK, I’ll keep a little flame of hope burning for a Jotunheimr OVA or bonus episode. I’m feeling better about the chances for season 2 after looking up the BD sales figures in Japan: SAO volume 1 has impressively sold almost 40k units as of last week. Hopefully, Aniplex USA will crank up the presses soon so I can do my part in the US market.
They might have omitted thinking it would be spoiler-ish with reference to the sword etc … though I personally don’t see the point.
U guys just have to SHUT YOUR MOUTH and watch the DAMN EPISODE!!
