Really well done episode. Just as good as its Index counterpart. Touma was amazing inthis.

  11. sinkingmist on July 13, 2013 at 3:52 am said:

ED fonts missing? Or is it supposed to look like that.

  12. @sinkingmist
Weird splitter bug. If you want demux the fonts and install KozMinPr6N-Bold-En.otf. It’ll work then.

  13. Frediloc on July 13, 2013 at 4:08 am said:

Wow, you weren’t kidding. This episode was very well done. It’s great to see the director (and other staff) really showcasing his talents.

    @Setsuna Henry
    I cried too. This episode was amazing. ;_;

  16. God this episode was just amazing.
Really touching and just pulled me in.

  17. Revelations on July 13, 2013 at 5:07 am said:

We’ve already seen this in Index, so why am I crying and why does my heart ache?

  18. Kenshin_sama on July 13, 2013 at 5:35 am said:

Scene had an amazing OST, better animation, and the directing was spectacular. Done much better than the Index anime version (which didn’t showcase the emotional value as much as I’d have preferred it to). Really great in the LN version too.

Holy shit man… that bridge scene… GODDAMN!!!! It was beautiful. And touching. And give me the chills. The music, the voices, the angles…

  20. touma on July 13, 2013 at 7:10 am said:

Whoa…DAT SHIT WAS FUCKING MANLY TORRENTS. Damn well done. I think the voice acting broke the emotional sound barrier in that bridge scene. FUUUUUUCCCCKKKK.

Touma is the best thint to has happened to Railgun, and Biribiri is the best thing to has happened to Index.
Why cant they fucking give us a fucking 25 eps of Touma x Biribiri interactions. Those fuckings nips are retarded as fuck.
    AS FUCK:

  22. This episode reminded me of Fate/Zero. Both were stories I’ve already read in manga/novel, but they were so worth watching
(Coincidentally, both have an epic bridge scene.)

  23. Random Viewer on July 13, 2013 at 9:06 am said:

Is it just in my player or there’s something off about the ED font (bigger?). Not that it’s a big deal I was just surprised when it started.
That aside, really great episode indeed!!!! Thank you very much, UTW staffs, (also Mazui’s!). 😀

  24. MPythonFC on July 13, 2013 at 9:18 am said:

Thanks all for the episode, really good as you say. I was surprised they fit the whole bridge scene into less than 1 episode, but it was so well done I don’t care. We’re on the home run now and it’s been a great ride so far. I’m going to need some frivolous beach filler episodes after all this emotional stuff!

  25. Ascoat on July 13, 2013 at 9:27 am said:

I already knew Nagai Tatsuyuki was brilliant, but these past few episodes that overlap with Index have really struck that home. I watched both seasons of Index first and didn’t get why Biribiri was so popular; one episode of Railgun later and I got it. Even though the second season of Index had Railgun to learn from, it still didn’t do the character justice. Now, I get to see Nagai Tatsuyuki not just cover the same setting and characters but retell an entire arc, and it’s amazing how much power he’s been able to draw out from the same story.

  26. sparky-chan on July 13, 2013 at 11:58 am said:

Hmm I’m using an older version of K-Lite and I’ve no problem with the ED. That version sucked too xD
Btw great episode. So all 24 episodes would cover just the Sister’s Arc?

  27. At 05:03, the subs says “It’s the same as kissing the bag of the girl you love,” but she clearly says “It’s the same as kissing the recorder of the girl you love”. Recorder is, obviously, a type of flute.

  28. macxxx007! on July 13, 2013 at 1:38 pm said:

    COOL!
Thanks so much for the episode!
    HAVE A GREAT NIGHT!

  29. Minus the rain scene, this is the real reason I fell in love with Biribiri. HNNNNNNGG!!!
Now, commencing the final part of the Sister’s Arc.

  30. Is it just me, or is the mp4 one hard subbed? Why oh why?
Please release another version that isn’t.

  31. Soukyuu on July 13, 2013 at 4:49 pm said:

@all the “why am I crying”-people: according to anidb, this is the same director as anohana (among others).
Great episode, this is what I imagined when I read the novel. Thanks for the subs~

  32. @Chase
The mp4 is ALWAYS hardsubbed. Nothing has changed here and no we won’t release another one.

  33. odinigh on July 13, 2013 at 8:23 pm said:

    >please do not hardsub the .mp4

It was very good. Can’t wait for next week’s showdown.

  35. ToumaisGod on July 13, 2013 at 10:51 pm said:

Ascoat, don’t try to sell Nagai. He still sucks for how he adapts Railgun. The only good episodes were the ITEM Arc and this and probably Accelerator fight.
    Outside of that, no.

    >Externally loading the .ass with thousands of lines (due to karaoke effects)
    >Assuming your h/w player can handle the lightning effects in the OP/kara in the ED
    >Assuming your h/w player doesn’t break all typesetting
If you want to take the effort to fix all that, might as well hardsub.

Wow, that was one of the best episodes of any series that I’ve seen in a while – seeing the series’ potential used well just makes the upcoming slice of life arc feel all the more painful, though.
I know others have already pointed out the possibly-missing font in the ED, but I’ll add my own voice to that. It just… doesn’t look right. v2 possible?

  39. Anon on July 14, 2013 at 4:03 am said:

^ Agreed. This was one of the best episodes of anything I’ve seen in a while… infinitely better than the Index version. The music, the animation, the direction… everything was top.

  40. JoBo on July 14, 2013 at 5:04 am said:

when is Prisma Illya gonna be up? didn’t it air yesterday?
don’t mean to sound impatient, but…

  41. God damn, this is so much better than the Index version of this exact same thing. Index it was sorta, meh, Railgun-chan is a bit kooky. But this ep got me right in the feels.
Bursting with excitement for the next episode!

  42. Great episode! My thanks to UTW and Mazui for subbing this.
I’m ready for some punch-in-the-face action!

  43. Stealthbird97 on July 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm said:

    Brilliant.
The Railgun S series will definitely tell the sisters arc in a better light compared with what was shown to us in Index.
    Great Great Great

  44. art248 on July 14, 2013 at 4:32 pm said:

    wonderful 🙂

  45. The mysteriously handsome stranger with the hairy balls on July 14, 2013 at 11:37 pm said:

This arc was arguably the best thing in the whole Raildex universe.
Too bad the rest of the series will be slut brigade antics.
Why cant they understand the Touma x Biribiri is the best thing ever.

  46. A Certain Vending Machine on July 15, 2013 at 5:06 am said:

Argh as much as I love this episode I still can’t stand Touma…

  47. fxckyeahiam on July 15, 2013 at 4:28 pm said:

Wow. This episode was bloody deep meh. Was way better than index ver.

  48. anon on July 16, 2013 at 6:29 pm said:

The preview says: “The Weakest” with rubi Kamijou Touma, but the English translation left out “The Weakest”

Hi there, I’m watching this series and I love it, thanks for the quality work you do here, really lots of thanks.
Now I hear people mention something about Index? is that a related story? should I watch it too?

  51. A Certain Vending Machine on July 18, 2013 at 3:40 pm said:

    @arilou
Railgun is a spinoff of A Certain Magical Index which focuses more on Touma as the main character and deals more with the magic side of the world rather than the science. It’s definitely worth a watch but it’s not super necessary to see it in order to understand what’s going on in Railgun so far.

  52. Happosai on July 18, 2013 at 6:21 pm said:

After seeing this, I can’t wait for the episodes where Misaka forces Touma to pretend he’s her boyfriend, I seriously want to know what Misaka heard Touma say when he beat that shapesifter nor the Daihasei perioud where they run in to their parents. Nor the arc’s where Misaka hunts remnants and Accelerator is active on background as well, there is tons of things on Science side I’d love to know that is not covered, there is plenty of room for valid plots there.
Thanks for the subs guys by the way, solid stuff !

  53. arilou on July 19, 2013 at 4:57 am said:

    @A Certain Vending Machine
Thanks a lot, considering how much I’m liking this one so far I’m gonna watch Index, thanks again! ^.^

  54. Foobar on July 19, 2013 at 9:42 am said:

There will be quite a bit of Touma x Biribiri once we get into New Testament, but there’s still like 5 + finale arc. It should be possible to jam those in single 26 ep season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did 52 eps out of them (anime currently covers 13+1 volumes worth of stuff, there’s still 8+1 left). Of course they could also just continue with NT after main story ends, but I don’t find it very likely.

  55. I quite like reading through a post that will make men
and women think. Also, many thanks for allowing for me to comment!

  56. leo@uhw on July 19, 2013 at 6:15 pm said:

Finally caught up. I have to say, I like this approach to the bridge discussion between Touma and Misaka better than the original Index. She sounds a lot more desperate while he sounds a lot more comforting. Idk, it could just be me.
Either way, thanks for this. Patiently awaiting on EP15 an EP02 of Ilya.
