Scene had an amazing OST, better animation, and the directing was spectacular. Done much better than the Index anime version (which didn’t showcase the emotional value as much as I’d have preferred it to). Really great in the LN version too.

Touma is the best thint to has happened to Railgun, and Biribiri is the best thing to has happened to Index.

This episode reminded me of Fate/Zero. Both were stories I’ve already read in manga/novel, but they were so worth watching
(Coincidentally, both have an epic bridge scene.)
Is it just in my player or there’s something off about the ED font (bigger?). Not that it’s a big deal I was just surprised when it started.

Thanks all for the episode, really good as you say. I was surprised they fit the whole bridge scene into less than 1 episode, but it was so well done I don’t care. We’re on the home run now and it’s been a great ride so far. I’m going to need some frivolous beach filler episodes after all this emotional stuff!
I already knew Nagai Tatsuyuki was brilliant, but these past few episodes that overlap with Index have really struck that home. I watched both seasons of Index first and didn’t get why Biribiri was so popular; one episode of Railgun later and I got it. Even though the second season of Index had Railgun to learn from, it still didn’t do the character justice. Now, I get to see Nagai Tatsuyuki not just cover the same setting and characters but retell an entire arc, and it’s amazing how much power he’s been able to draw out from the same story.
Hmm I’m using an older version of K-Lite and I’ve no problem with the ED. That version sucked too xD
Btw great episode. So all 24 episodes would cover just the Sister’s Arc?
At 05:03, the subs says “It’s the same as kissing the bag of the girl you love,” but she clearly says “It’s the same as kissing the recorder of the girl you love”. Recorder is, obviously, a type of flute.

Wow, that was one of the best episodes of any series that I’ve seen in a while – seeing the series’ potential used well just makes the upcoming slice of life arc feel all the more painful, though.
I know others have already pointed out the possibly-missing font in the ED, but I’ll add my own voice to that. It just… doesn’t look right. v2 possible?

God damn, this is so much better than the Index version of this exact same thing. Index it was sorta, meh, Railgun-chan is a bit kooky. But this ep got me right in the feels.

Now I hear people mention something about Index? is that a related story? should I watch it too?

Railgun is a spinoff of A Certain Magical Index which focuses more on Touma as the main character and deals more with the magic side of the world rather than the science. It’s definitely worth a watch but it’s not super necessary to see it in order to understand what’s going on in Railgun so far.
After seeing this, I can’t wait for the episodes where Misaka forces Touma to pretend he’s her boyfriend, I seriously want to know what Misaka heard Touma say when he beat that shapesifter nor the Daihasei perioud where they run in to their parents. Nor the arc’s where Misaka hunts remnants and Accelerator is active on background as well, there is tons of things on Science side I’d love to know that is not covered, there is plenty of room for valid plots there.

There will be quite a bit of Touma x Biribiri once we get into New Testament, but there’s still like 5 + finale arc. It should be possible to jam those in single 26 ep season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did 52 eps out of them (anime currently covers 13+1 volumes worth of stuff, there’s still 8+1 left). Of course they could also just continue with NT after main story ends, but I don’t find it very likely.

Finally caught up. I have to say, I like this approach to the bridge discussion between Touma and Misaka better than the original Index. She sounds a lot more desperate while he sounds a lot more comforting. Idk, it could just be me.
Either way, thanks for this. Patiently awaiting on EP15 an EP02 of Ilya.
