Now where have I seen this before…

And stuff like this is why I love TypeMoon. Please enjoy!
There will be no episode 07v0 release this week because:

  • Our usual stream ripper is away on holiday.
  • The ohys raw on Nyaa has broken audio, not to mention it’s poorly re-encoded (i.e. shit made even shittier).
  • The team will be enjoying the Oreimo finale together today.

So yeah, sorry about that. Not like you’re missing out on that much (mild spoilers) anyway.
P.S.: If the subtitles look weird/wrong or don’t appear at all, you’re most likely using an outdated codec pack/player. Installing the latest CCCP should fix the problem.

The True End of Ore no imouto. As if you can’t guess the end pairing. The ending that will raeg a thousand fans! etc2 etc2. Seriously, it’s a lousy stunt when they could have done it properly on TV. *shrugs*
Illya forgot the #1 rule when raeping meido: Ensure your door is locked so say… 4 friends don’t barge in…

  3. Thanks for the ep! And not “missing out much” my ass… 😛
As for oreimo, I keep hoping for a rewrite of the book ending which rates among the worst since School Rumble.
Oh well, that’s what doujinshi is for… 😀

  7. No it means there won’t be a web-rip for Episode 7 because we don’t have one and nor does anybody else.

Enjoy that Oreimo finale. I caught it at Otakon, and the bitter tears of the audience were well worth reading through that last volume of the light novel in advance.

Hey guys, so what’s with the shitty fonts for episodes 4, 5 and 6? Compare them to your good fonts for episodes 1, 2 and 3 and attempt to fix it. Thanks.

  12. @Anonymous
How about you fix your setup instead, the problem is on your end.

    @Bradley
yes, they fixed the repeated animation and the battle looks better now.

Really doubt Kuro will make an appearance unless this anime is going into S2 for the 2wei story. Wish they will get into 3rei though… that’s when the sh!t hits the fan BIG TIME!

@ar: Actually … only partly. Meaning yes, but not much we can do about it. MPlayer just doesn’t accept your main font, or at least the versions I tested. Ways to fix this on your end: Older version of mkvmerge, manually set the MIME type back to application/x-truetype-font because that’s what older versions did or just convert the font, it’s only a problem with otf fonts + application/vnd.ms-opentype anyway. Which should be the correct type, but … well, what doesn’t work just doesn’t work.
Ways for non windows users to view the font without installing it: Use Mpv (no frontends available, so probably not a solution for everyone) or the 2 years old mplayer2. Oh, and VLC of course. MPlayer is still THE cross platform player, and libmpv seems to be not exactly around the corner either. (Not that I know anything specific though)

If it were me, you could drop the crappy looking niconico version and only release the broadcast HD one. Would me no temptation to download it. 😀

  22. @Gattix
Converting is out of the question because recompiling an otf to ttf introduces aliasing for some reason that isn’t there when it’s compiled as opentype, so that’s not really an acceptable solution. I don’t mux manually, I use a full-blown muxing script that I’ve written and I modified it some time ago to update to all the changes of 6.x, and muxing opentypes as application/x-truetype-font with builds where it was fixed causes it to not work at all last I checked.
The real answer to this is for somebody to lodge a bug ticket with the mplayer devs to have this resolved. It has been fixed on Haali Splitter/LAV Splitter on Windows, so if mplayer still has this problem then it needs to be addressed by the devs. We used workarounds for a while, but it’s not something we should be doing forever when there are working solutions which are accessible to most people. We gave it to the end of last season for the workarounds, but for most people it should no longer be a problem.
So yeah, make a bug ticket on the mplayer dev site and see what they can do about it. That’s the ultimate and proper solution really. Someone just needs to take the initiative to follow it through. If the current code base has fixes implemented, then these builds should be used and not older ones, and yeah if not then somebody needs to be proactive and get it addressed ASAP.
I hope you understand where I’m coming from.

  23. @ar
I shed manly tears at your epic “Real Fixes over Workarounds” speech. It was beautiful.

Phew, the effects and the battle choreography were drastically changed.. that was a very pleasant surprise

  25. Gattix on August 18, 2013 at 2:01 pm said:

Of course I understand, and I don’t really care either, I use Mpv. Mpv development is so much faster anyway, it will replace mplayer as soon as it is possible to write frontends for it. I can’t test if it’s fixed in the mplayer svn version, doesn’t compile and I don’t care enough to find out why, Archlinux packages are fairly up to date anyway (a few weeks old at most) and MPlayer can die for all I care. This issue will cease being an issue either way though, we just need to wait.
I didn’t know there can be noticeable quality loss involved with converting otf to ttf. I can’t remember ever noticing anything like that. Good conversion should be possible, but fonts … bugs … weird issues … whatever. Nothing new here.
Still, what do you mean it wouldn’t work in fixed players/demuxers as application/x-truetype-font? Your first 3 episodes work everywhere, don’t they? Those are just that, opentypes muxed as truetype font.
    Short test, removed fonts, then:
    mkvmerge withoutfonts.mkv -o output.mkv –attachment-mime-type application/x-truetype-font –attach-file Profile-Medium.otf –attachment-mime-type application/x-truetype-font –attach-file Profile-MediumItalic.otf
Works flawlessly. But yeah, it’s your choice if you want to „speed up“ the development process. Wouldn’t be the first time fansubbers do this, lol.

Recalling Ruby’s earlier statement that “Cuteness is a Magical Girl’s number one weapon”, I’d have to say that in Ilya’s case this is false. She seems to have quite a few more powerful weapons in her arsenal…

Well that is a damn shame, I thought they’d cover both the stories and I’d get to see her!
    Hopefully, they’ll do a 2nd season. Hopefully…

DEM CUTS BACKS WITH THE BROKEN MIND THINGS
Fate/Kaleid has yet to disappoint me in the least. I was expecting it to turn as lop-sided as a certain Higurashi OVA, but I’m so glad I’ve been proven wrong every single episode. This has been the icing on the cake enough for my to switch on my laptop just to purchase the OP single (hurr, since I can’t afford more fancy stuff).
Thank you for thy subbing efforts! ~

  30. Best episode so far. Thrilling up to the edge filled with great visualised action.

  31. I’m interested to see what she’ll look like when she uses other cards. Buff Ilya for the berserker card? Haha.

“working solutions which are accessible to most people”
By “most people” you mean “people on Windows with latest bleeding-edge codec pack”. Even if mplayer fixes the issue *today* it will be months before those fixes get rolled up into things like XBMC, Plex, and the bajillion projects that *aren’t* MPlayer and CCCP. So anyone not using CCCP – fuck ’em.
This is digging up shades of the 8-bit vs 10-bit flames from a couple years ago – yet *another* “we’re going to use the bleedingest edge thing we can, because *clearly* things that have worked perfectly for years just aren’t good enough today, no sir!”.

  40. @di gi kazune
ofc she did, why didnt i think about that XD

  41. @Hawker
You should forward your argument to Mosu, the main mkvmerge developer, because he basically forced the change onto EVERYBODY. People asked him to change it back and he said, NOPE you make your software behave in the same correct manner that mkvmerge now does. It was 1.5 years ago that he changed this behaviour and it has been solved in end-user software for at least 6 months. I think that is ample time to be honest.
