KUSION–CHAN’S CHECK!
Okay, so I’m sure everyone got that reference.
Kusion-chan’s Check™ is a new segment over here at Unlimited Translation Works. It’s the part of the day where I look over godly shit and talk about how godly it is. Sure, no songs I list out have any real cons, but I’ll add one or two to shut some people up.
Today on Kusion-chan’s Check™, we have Satou Rina singing the ending theme to Amagami SS, starting of course at episode 5. The song is entitled: ????????? Kitto Ashita wa… (Tomorrow For Sure, Definitely Tomorrow, etc.)
The character voice is Tanamachi Kaoru.
All right. Enough small-talk. Let’s get this shit rolling. It’s a quick review (fuck you, it’s 1 minute 30 seconds long), but I’m sure you get the gist of it.
PROS
1) The melody is smooth. I mean, really, I can listen to this all day. Which reminds me, SINGLE WHERE?
2) Her voice? How can I word this… It’s like an angel is singing to me. It’s very soft-spoken.
3) The lyrics are fantastic. Maybe I’m just being gay for like this song.
CONS
1) Like any other fucking song you’ll hear in Japan, you’ll notice they like to use ENGRISH here and there. Do I care? No (nor should you). Does it make sense? Not really.
2) There are no other cons because she is fucking perfect.
If I was married to Satou Rina, I’d probably ask her to wake me up in her singing voice. Can you think of a better way to wake up in the morning? I didn’t think so.
Maybe she could add in a bit of that tsundere Mikoto side. I should stop myself now before I get too into it.

Misaka is a lot more badass in the manga, though…
It’s true. Though I’m such a huge supporter/fan of the anime (both, in fact), I have to say that I much rather enough manga-style-Misaka more than anime-style-Misaka. The voice is a huge plus, though. But I can say this for any manga character I truly enjoy.
If you have not yet read the manga, but are watching the anime, I highly recommend you do so. It’s a very interesting read for a very interesting show. Considering a majority of people haven’t probably read much, I won’t post much about the manga. I don’t want to spoil it for you and all.

Rina satou also voiced the best character in Hayate. No, not Hinagiku, but 8, everyone’s favorite psychotic orange robot. Not only is this robot better than eva and every gundam in the world put together, but it’s a nursing robot: It can take care of your aging mom so you don’t have to pay for a nursing home! Put aside Misaka and Kaoru for a moment and think about it – you can use the saved money to buy the railgun blu rays on top of the Misaka figurines you’ve been buying with your monthly food budget.
Misaka is still win. No two ways about it. I can never get enough of the index universe as a whole, but misaka in particular.
Well then you should be mentally preparing yourself for tomorrow. Go take the bible and translate it into Japanese, then translate it back into English, and then translate it into French.

Halfway through Amagami ep6 I realized something.. Something very peculiar. Kaoru’s voice.. Her voice was creeping its way into my brain. In fact, it was already too late by then. The waves of sound tickling my brain. Why was her voice so.. comfortable? As if I’ve listened to it a hundred times, my brain simply accepts the comfortable voice. The once blurry syllables of a strange language become increasingly clear and distinct. Her voice speaks to me. Is there still a reason to read when her voice tells me everything?

Wow, the only anime I saw with Satou Rina was Index. I should clarify that I have seen others, but I watched the dubbed versions (I will watch a dub before a sub if it’s available). On another note, I’d rather be woke up by Nami Tamaki or, I dunno, Bonnie Pink (she did the opening to Tales of Vesperia). I also liked Kanzaki Kaoru better in Index…because of the angel fall episodes (yay Kanzaki being a main character for that arc!)
Wow, this almost makes me want to watch the show. Too bad my download amount is limited and I can’t settle for anything other than HD (my 1080p, 24 inch monitor makes SD look like crap). I might have to wait for Funimation to release it in the US. Too bad it will most likely be a year or more before that happens. Maybe if you decide to sub the series I could fit it in my download queue (hint, hint… :).

I have other animes with Rina Satou providing voices with … but there is one thing I’ve learned over the years of watching animes is never connect the qualities of one character in one anime to another just because they have the same voice actress … each of them have their own distinct characteristics … just like real actress one character in a particular movie is different from another …
however, it shows the depth of Satou Rina’s talent that she gives to each of the characters she gives life to …
I’ve watch her work in asuno yoichi as ibuki kagura and it was vastly different from & nowhere near kaoru tanamachi in amagami ss …
her ED song for her kaoru arc in amagami ss gives you deep insight into her true feelings for junichi as a lover/friend … love the melody as well … makes you wish you have someone like kaoru as your lover/friend …

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I innocently made my vote. As a reader before this was animated, a watcher as each season has been released its not a question of pros and cons for the characters or voice actors. Its simple chemistry, and mine works with Index better. When the figures came out I bought Index’ not Biribiri, because I simply liked her better. From the start.
Then I see this poll, cast my vote, and WHAM. Some kind of irrelevant rant about Kaoru. Least favorite girl after Rihoko. Ai was definitely the best girl.
And yeah this rant would have been better spent on Shana, she trumps all girls period.

As annoying as Kuroko (the Teleporter) can be sometimes, I REALLY find Kuroko’s voice actor amusing. She does such an excellent job. Rina Satou does an excellent job of Biribiri though, as I’m rather enthralled by Biribiri….then again, I have a certain weak spot for nearly any tsundere character…>_>
