Asuna’s Leeroy Jenkins moment.
Yes, they compress Chapter 12 into 4-5 minutes air time. I didn’t expect they jimmy in Liz into this canon and I bet we gonna see Scilicia in the next episode as well.
Other than, I say they did pretty good on this; retaining 80% of the original content though with minor cut backs and alteration.

28. @ nitpicker

While “Aincrad Liberation Army” (or “the Army”) would be the natural translation, in the Morning Dew Girl (also known as Four Days) side story in volume 2 of the LNs, the guild name is abbreviated as ALF. The F could stand for “Front” or perhaps “Forces”, but judging from my experience it’s most likely the former.

29. nitpicker on September 2, 2012 at 5:09 am said:

@Raze Thanks for the reasonable explanation. Totally forgot to say thanks for the ep in my last comment. UTW does great work. Also I see you guys decided to go with “Dual Wield” for nitoryuu instead of “Dual Blades”. Another reasonable way to go for the name of that skill, but I personally prefer “Dual Blades”. XD

30. Thanks for the super fast subs! It would have really sucked to wait another day if the last episode was a cliffhanger. XD

31. Thanks for the episode. The dedication you guys put into subbing these shows for us is very much so appreciated.

43. how long will you guys be using rapidgator as storage? cuz I bought about a years worth of depositfile premium then you guys switched over to rg hehe 😀 any estimate so i can pan out the right package plan to get for rg? ^_^

44. I am a bit confused with the pacing of the anime it is as if SAO would soon be over. Are they covering ALO as well on this season? According to wikipedia it should be around 25 episodes before the season ends.
.
at the current rate there are only a few major events left
Duel with KoB leader, cave exploration and Kuradeel’s revenge, chapter 16-16.5, marriage and honeymoon, Morning Dew Girl, Fishing a boss, 75th floor boss battle, and the battle with you know who, destruction of Aincrad and freedom
45. @palladium, jt, Revelations
From the official website airing iteration, I think it only affect Kanagawa airing. If UTW get their raws from Kanagawa, maybe we might not watch next week. Other broadcasting channels will be airing on schedule.

46. @1340
Rejoice my friend. They will include
RECTO’s Alfheim Online after the conclusion of Aincrad with 1/2 week hiatus. The SAO arc will end on episode 14.
47. @AMg
actually I wanted them to finish Aincrad on a 25 episode basis then place the other VRMMO’s on another season. One season for book 1 and 2, another for 3 and 4 and so on. And the side stories on their respective storylines. But maybe I am asking too much hahaha

48. palladium on September 2, 2012 at 8:36 am said:

@AMg: I downloaded Commie’s release this week (it’s a good 100MB smaller; stupid monthly internet bandwidth cap) and it said at the end of the ED that the next episode will be aired on 15 Sept, but I checked Tokyo MX’s site (where UTW gets their raws – you can see the logo at the top right corner) and they are airing ep 10 as usual next week. Phew.
On another note 5 more eps to cover all of the remaining events feels pretty rush to me….

49. That was good episode. Now only hope for chapter 16 next week

50. @palladium
I feel the same way too. The animation company is trying to squeeze in almost 5 books (inner area murder is almost half of its book) into a 25 episode season. It feels too rushed, there are lots of fillers that they can add to make it more cheesy plus the boss fights seems rushed too. The LNs made it more exciting compared to the animated version

51. ShadowBlade on September 2, 2012 at 9:01 am said:

Thanks for the episode

52. Lizy’s part didn’t make much sense if you never read the book

53. Link3895 on September 2, 2012 at 9:43 am said:

One of the things I think people need to realize about them putting a number of books into so few episodes is that in the books you read paragraphs of detail of the world or events or thoughts from the characters about such. But in the anime, you get it all in a couple seconds of visuals. It may seem rushed, but in watching anime, we aren’t having to read paragraphs of detail that we see visually. I know that they also skip some things here and there, but when making anything into a tv/movie media from a book or other source, they have limitted time. They have to cut out some of the lesser and not so important things, if they covered EVERYTHING in the anime, the series would have to be way too long.
Okay….that out of the way, thanks for the release!! I’m not going to pester for the SD release, but I would like to request the ASS scripts for episodes 8 and 9 (which can easily take just a few short minutes of someone’s time). Thing is, I have trouble with the playback of your 720p files. Episode 9 specifically crashes any media player I use after the boss fight, as soon as the town scene starts, and trying to open the file in anything to extract the subs causes that program to crash as well. I’ve been using your awesome subs on Horriblesubs’ 480p files, bigger resolution than your SD and 100mb smaller, but using your great subbing job. Not meaning to dis your SD encoder, sorry. Buuuuut yeah, could someone post the two latest scripts??

62. Thanks for subs. Novel is so much better, but I think I’ll watch it to the end:)

63. @Link3895
I am not asking for the animation company to translate everything word for word. If there is something missing in the animated version of SAO, it is emotion and feelings. You can definitely feel everything when reading the novels. Also simple scenes that were cut out can help the animated version to be much longer. For example, on episode 8, when Kirito and Kuradeel fought a duel, atleast during the 60 second countdown, the animators should atleast put on the thing going on Kirito’s mind such as the stance Kuradeel is taking, the possible sword skills/combos available with that stance, possible counters to that stance, is it a feint or not, things like that add depth to the story and characters themselves. The anime finished the duel with a single sword strike without any explanation at all. Ofcourse people would still understand it however this is where LN readers would feel that things were rushed.
.
There are actually a lot of things to tackle with regards to mentality and behavior or SAO players but it was left out in the anime. A lot of good scenes were also cut.
.
Probably more than half of the novels just described the scenery, sword details, skill details, character details which can be achieved with a few seconds worth of animation but as to what I just said, emotion, feeling, player mentality is lacking. Overall, the animated version is still great, above average in my opinion but not more than that.

64. Episode 9 and people are still grumbling how the anime keeps missing stuff.. If I wanted something 100% faithful I would read the LN again (which would make it the 4th time)
Feels a bit rushed but hey, they at least kept the major parts in and that’s the important part. People need to understand that this is an -adaptation- and stop bitching about it already.
With that out of the way, can’t wait for next week~

65. @ Link3895 and hello, http://db.tt/p1GFGYwP is a .7z file of the subs, fonts, and chapters for episodes 1-9. I always extract subs anyway for when I do BD remux so I just put them in a 7z file and uploaded them.

74. First, thank you for this latest eps, as always.
Im not sure why, but using potplayer the video lags hard and desyncs from the audio from 00:30 when the boss appears until 02:16 when the OP ends, where it mysteriously clears up.
I’ve reinstalled the latest potplayer and vsfilters and my cpu usage never exceeds 9% during playback. I dont have any problems with the earlier eps 1-8, just this one.
Would appreciate any advice you could throw my way.

Is it just me or is the timing of the chapters either one second or just slightly off? Because when I skip the opening song, it goes to 02:23 but the title screen of the episode doesn’t have any typesetting. Same thing happens when I skip the ending song, it goes 23:35 which makes me miss the typesetting (this one doesn’t matter as much as the earlier example). Just wondering if it was just me and I should download again or if this is a timing/encoding issue?

78. @Raze
I would go with force instead of front. Front makes the guild sound like they’re front-liners. Which they really aren’t.

79. @Huami
He didn’t really kill it himself. Also, if I remember correctly the LN mentions that its the one who makes the final killing-strike that gets the item. So, yes, he did get an item. But, it’s worth noting that even in the LN, it doesn’t always say what item he got — or at least not right away.

80. Grecian Urn on September 2, 2012 at 7:50 pm said:

The “Front” in “Aincrad Liberation Front” and the “front” in “front-line” are two completely different things, you know.
.
Thank you UTW for the episode!

81. some one on September 2, 2012 at 8:18 pm said:

Looks like the if we follow the novel completely we will end up with another DBZ style anime. A really long stand off before the action starts.
Though I kinda understand what you guys mean. But it’s pretty much more of a personal stand point. Some people may like a certain scene others may not. I also got the same qualms about the only VN game I played that got translated to anime(why did they not add those scenes). I think the producers are just trying to pick what they think are the best parts. Unless they have a really big budget like naruto, this will be the best we can get.
Any ways. Wow! he soloed a boss.

82. @Grecian Urn
I wouldn’t say completely different. Both are military terms. Yes, they technically have different meanings. But, when you have a term that is commonly used in a story (e.g. front-line/front-liners), you should be careful how you use similar words.
.
For example; in Star Wars, if a battle was to take place, no one would ever say, “I will overcome him by brute force.” Because, even while it is technically different from The Force, it feels wrong.
.
Words are precious, and writers take special care when choosing them.

83. Anyone else impatient for bt to finish translating Vol 10?

84. Nickienator on September 2, 2012 at 9:46 pm said:

Action filled episodes like this make the mediocre animation really stand out and bother me.

85. “For example; in Star Wars, if a battle was to take place, no one would ever say, “I will overcome him by brute force.” Because, even while it is technically different from The Force, it feels wrong.”
This is the stupidest thing I have ever read.

86. Just for the record, for everyone who complains about video/subtitle playing/rendering/lag/etc.
I’m a Linux user, and I use SMPlayer2 with the MPlayer2 engine. I never had a single problem with UTW releases.
If you can’t change filters as the UTW guys tell you on the pinned post right on the home page, you might want to try http://smplayer2.srsfckn.biz/min_install.exe for a different experience.
I’m not associated with the developers or the packagers of SMPlayer2/MPlayer2. The download is a Windows build, with no malware as far as I can tell. But due to Windows architecture, some random misconfiguration is possible just as much as when installing togheter KLite, CCCP, etc. Proceed at your own risk.
I might not game a lot, but I can always see any video content I want.

88. Thanks for the episode UTW !
I have watched this episode at least 5 times already…. can’t stop myself from re-watching =)

89. @jcs
Yeah, that probably wasn’t the best example. Maybe I should’ve elaborated.
.
When writers repeatedly uses a specific word or term, they are then very careful how they use it in other places; or, at least that’s what I’ve seemed to noticed.
.
If writers are not careful, readers (in the case of books) may misunderstand or reread a little. In my “brute force” example above, it would be possible to mistake it for a play on words.
.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m the only one with that problem.

90. It might be a hunch but from what I heard
they gonna adapt Chapter 13 to 16 into one episode (Episode 10 that’s). With the major events in these chapters and the pacing of the anime, we might not get that bed scene. Alternatively, he will confess to her and propose their marriage after the closed call with Kuradeel on the spot.
I’ll bet most of you avid LN fans gonna table flip when that happen. Don’t worry though as
they gonna split the Morning Dew Girl SS into two episodes.
:3

I found the fight scene itself lackluster somehow… perhaps I expected some out-of-the-world speed in the animation when I was watching it, lol. Because that was how my imagination went when I was reading the LN. Derp.
Also, for those didn’t realized yet, the anime lacks some important key parts and FEELS fast paced. You can tell that the events are literally running to the end every single time.Gotta take it a bit slow sometimes.

Not impressed.
First they skip the cloak scene, then the finger licking part, then the part where Kirito said he’d do anything for her, and now the bed scene? Sigh. I personally prefer them to spread out the main events over more episodes, and cram the Morning Dew Girl scene into one episode.
96. Lovefromcanada on September 3, 2012 at 5:11 am said:

Loving this show, thank you 🙂

97. @AMg
accd to wikipedia, episode 10 is Crimson Killing Intent, LN readers know who that crimson is, episode 11 is Morning Dew Girl the followed by episode 12 Yui’s Heart, just like what you said the side story is divided into 2 episodes. Episode 13 is Depths of Hell, I wonder what this is, will they skip the reeling part since you said SAO arc ends at the 14th episode.
Assuming they don’t cram too much on episode 10, episode 11 can feature chapter 16 on episode 11. Personally, I did not expect to find chapter 16.5 in the animated version because 16.5 is just porn. Chapter 16 is just sufficient enough for you to guess what happened in 16.5.
@palladium
I got the same feelings here, feels like the animation was too rushed, they could atleast made the SAO arc last until episode 20ish, then should atleast end when Kirito enters the game on book 3 and 4 after Agil showed him the picture. Picturing the end into my mind, the scene will be Kirito will once again put on his Nerve Gear and enter the game and it ends there leaving a cliffhanger, then start the 2nd season with almost the same episode with this season, on the bed wearing the Nerve Gear etc.

98. Does the anime show until the events of the 3rd and 4th volume in the LN? Or will it just finish at the 1st volume?

99. @Des
with the current pacing and as to what AMg mentioned in his earlier post, the SAO arc will end at the 14th episode followed by volumes 3 and 4 until it reaches 25 episodes.

100. @AMg
There’s still hope for LN fans since (possible spoilers for ep.10):
the duel in chapter 13 is quite short which probably doesn’t need more than 5 min. Chapter 14 is also a short chapter which could take 1-2 min only or better yet it won’t be covered in episode 10 since it’s about Kirito telling Asuna about the Black Cats of Full Moon guild which we already know about them in more detail from episode 3. Assuming chapter 15 takes less than 10 min of the episode then this leaves the last 5 min of the episode to cover Kirito and Asuna’s night together in chapter 16. So it is still possible to see their night together in the episode which is good news for LN fans.^^ We’ll just have to see it in the next episode when it comes out. If that scene will be in the next episode I think Raze might use a pic of Asuna from that scene for the release post pic.
105. There is one thing I don’t get. Asuna said she wants to take a break from the guild and the front lines. And the commander of KoB is acting like she wants to leave the guild and wants to join Kirito or even like Kirito is trying to recruit Asuna.

109. @palladium, 1340, AAA
Yeah. That might be a possibility but it could be worse
as they might start the twelfth episode with either explanation of Parental Control/Ethic Code toggle with shenanigans (oh,yeaaaah) or jump to the bed scene where he’ll propose her before the OP without the shenanigans.
And the best mind’s of the world haven’t even cracked down and traced the maker of the game… a simple emp shockwave would do the trick… or i dunno, tons of ingenius solutions to get around the brain microwave… everytime I watch a SAO episode I always keep thinking what total useless tards the people on the outside world must be… Kirito and Asuna must be malnourished as shit irl, and their hygiene… I won’t even start…

112. hey Raze, how long will you guys be using rapidgator as storage? cuz I bought about a years worth of depositfiles premium then you guys switched over to gator Q_Q any estimate so i can pan out the right package plan to get for gator? ^_^

113. @Huami
with regards to personal needs, all of their real bodies are taken care of in hospitals just like how a comatose d patient is being taken care of. As for hygiene outside the game, it is said that a special bed for patients are used which is common on that age, it is like a jelly type of bed that absorbs anything the body excretes and decompose it (this thing is set in the future so things like that may exist). Inside the game, the need for those are not necessarily important, however lack of sleep or hunger will cause your character to create mistakes, more like a mental thing. Just as you imagined, all SAO players are malnourished after the game ended, most of them, if not all, required therapy sessions.
.
I don’t know about the EMP but remember that any abnormalities detected by the nerve gear will cause death to the patients. Even without electricity, the Nerve Gear can kill, you never know but that thing might be EMP proof too. Also take note that if you place yourself in the seat of the officials, you do not want to take responsibility over the lives of 10,000 players inside the game, one wrong move and they are all dead, imagine the pressure it applies to the officials.

114. @1340
The magick happens on every Wednesday afternoon. Ooohhh, yeaaaaah!
The next episode preview usually been uploaded to YouTube every Wednesday after it been air on the broadcasting partners and the official website. It usually helps the those who had read the LN to get a glimpse on how the adaptation will go.
:3
@Huami
Since NerveGear technology and its hardware had been developed from ground up by Kayaba Akihiko himself, it’s hard for the government to hack into the main server without compromising the integrity of the data inside. Let alone deploying precision EMP and not knowing the effect to the 10k trapped players without getting their hands on the actual source code from Kayaba. Remember, they still don’t know the Kayaba whereabouts 2 years after the incident started.
Even they manage to get the codes, how the Japanese government gonna get their hands on that EMP device without instigating public outcry and protest. Assuming they (the Japanese people) still has deep sentiment against nuclear weapon deployment and WWII, it ain’t look good for the PR especially if they offered by the US government to use that device. Also, it only affect the user within Japan, the rest of world probably treat this as localized incident.

115. @AMg
haha, I thought it was something more.

http://www.gotwoot-subs.net/ is fine.

117. So, uhh. I’m getting flashing subs while using the recommended xy-vsfilter. I figured it was a case of outdated software so I updated everything according to this:
http://www.bishoujoproject.com/mpc-hc-playback-guide/
Then tested SAO episode 9, still flashing, then installed xy-vsfilter, and it was still flashing, though better than without the filter (opening credits only flashed while changing lines).
Do I need to set anything in the xy-vsfilter settings? Or is it that my machine is just too old for this? (Dell Inspiron 1420)

118. eternalrain on September 3, 2012 at 6:56 pm said:

@Traume
Correct me if I’m wrong, but after skimming through the guide, it seems that installing xy-VSFilter with that guide will screw things up. Go do a clean install, with MPC, LAV Filters, Haali Splitter, and xy-VSFilter. The MPC builds in that guide I think are what screw xy-VSFilter up.

what kind player are you people using ? I’m using vlc player but it’s lagging.

120. @SadonyxChaser VLC is pretty light compared to the setups most people use on Windows.
You may want to manage your startups/currently running processes. If you don’t know how to do that, I suggest looking at Game Booster. If you still have issues, you may want to think about upgrading. Most modern systems should be able to handle 720p TV encodes without issue, though.
Do you know what CPU and GPU you have?

121. @eternalrain
Tried a clean install, but this time following this guide since it worked in the past, only divergence from the guide is the installation of the xy-VSFilter and I left the madVR settings from the other guide.
http://haruhichan.com/wpblog/index.php/205/hi10p-info-guide.html
Still got flashing subs. I should note that the flashing usually occurs during opening/ending credits and if there are any signs on screen (e.g: SAO’s interface windows).
Anything else I should try?

122. can you guys use mediafire? filecloud? jumbofiles? zippyshare? 2shared? t_t rapidgator is crap

123. palladium on September 4, 2012 at 3:06 am said:

@Traume:
You need to make sure if xy-vsfilter is actually been used to render the subs, as opposed to mpc-hc’s internal subs. Read the guide at xy-vs filter’s page, iirc you need to disable a few checkboxes in madvr and one or two checkboxes in mpc-hc. You also need to make sure that DirectVobsub is set to Prefer in the External Filter window.

124. @palladium
Ahh, that did the trick, I forgot to uncheck “autoload subtitles”. Thanks man!

125. I have problems watching HD episode, I’m using WMP and I’ve downloaded the same episode from other fansubs groups and I don’t have problems with those. It has lag between and sometimes freezes the video. I think is the CODEC you use to compress the episode, I really appreciate if you can verify it and use another rate for HD. Thanks!

126. Link3895 on September 5, 2012 at 1:23 am said:

@denpa
Ooooooh, thanks a TON, I was actually having some problems with the subs because I didn’t have the fonts, so when I hardsubbed them onto the video, it looked extremely bad.
@Engardium
I could always try….what, not sure what you’re getting at. I doubt you’re talking about my first bit about the feeling of it being rushed, since there isn’t anything I can do since I’m not one of the people making the anime. But about my second bit, I’ve tried all I can, and my only option is to do what I’m doing. The 720p files do lag during the opening and closing, and sometimes they just randomly crash my player or anything I use to try and extract the subs. I’ve tried installing the xy-VS filter, but it ends up making my player just unable to play some MKV files, I mean it just sits there with a black screen, even though it says it plays it just sits at 00:00 and trying to select another time just keeps it black and the time doesn’t go. I’ve just given up trying to get that to work because I just find it easier to do what I’m doing.
Speaking of what I’m doing, I’ve been experimenting with the encoding I’m doing, and I’ve ended up with 480p files about 120-130mb. Hardsubbing all but the dialogue onto the video, for some reason I like having softsubbed dialogue subs. And while they’re not PERFECT quality, they’re pretty close, can’t really tell unless you decide to watch the action scenes (and opening) frame by frame or in slow motion. Only problem I’m having is I can’t seem to figure out the video bitrate of my output files, I use any program to check the media info, and the bitrate just isn’t listed.
BUT, if I can get these just a wee bit better, maybe I could do some 480p files for you guys, not just for my own viewing pleasure. Hell, I’m not even an experienced encoder, I’m just experimenting and getting unusually good results. My only prior experience was taking Exiled-Destiny’s SRT subs for Nanoha A’s, making them look 20x better (and making them ASS), and encoding onto PSP playable MP4s so I could watch on my PSP. To note, those were also me experimenting, trying to get low file size with good quality, while PSP playable.

I am loving this anime, and UTW has the best quality I’ve seen, keep up the good works guys :)…even though life is bleh XD. Not sure if you all found extra translators, but I hope so, cause UTW is one of my favorite sub groups :D.

@Trauma LAMO. I hope you’re not trolling.
Do not use WMP. There are far too many reasons to list for why you shouldn’t use WMP.
Since you’re coming from WMP, I recommend either MPC-HC + xy-VSFilter or VLC.
Most fansub groups cater to xy-VSFilter instead of libass (VLC) so some subtitles (signs) may not display as they were intended.

129. Next episode preview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLoSF9JT64o
I think Episode 10 is all about the Heathcliff vs. Kirito chapters. Nothing more, nothing less.
:3

130. Yeah, I’m no trolling, sorry about saying WMP, it’s MPC and another player I use is Zoom player witn FFDSHOW, I’ve watched all animes (movies, ovas, and series) and sometimes I have troubles with the video and the sound but it’s the compression rate that they used to make the mkv file. I have a duo core 1.7GHZ with 128MB of Nvidia card and 4 GB of memory and using the lightest windows. Many people has the same problem as me. Can you very it? Thanks

131. Can you check ti? sorry about the last sentence in the post

132. How come you guys don’t use the official lyrics, might as well include it in the batch, here’s the link.

@AMg – Instead, I would bet…
…due to the episode title, we’ll get more than just the duel in the next one. It should probably finish with a fine “killing intent” cliffhanger, but if Wikipedia is right about the title of ep 11, we may get a LOT more story jammed into #10.
P.S. Yeah, I’ve been reading ahead now. And what I’ve read tells me they’re doing an excellent job with the anime adaptation so far.

Dammit, I meant to “spoiler” tag between the 2nd elipsis and the “P.S.” Should have used square brackets instead of the enclosures. Fortunately, I didn’t say too much I hope.

Fixed it for you.

135. @ Daniel

We updated the lyrics for episode 6 and beyond. They’re in line with the official lyrics as released with the CD single.

…unless you somehow think that romanization and translation is “official”, in which case you’re just being silly now (hint: they’re not official).

136. @man00ver
That’s most likely they will do it.
Episode 11 will seal the deal
between Kirito x Asuna pairing and how. It gonna be a heart-warming moment
:3

137.
I just finished reading the LN of about 210+ pages or so and was wondering if the author continued the story of kirito from the hospital room? Does he eventually find asuna in the real world and live happily ever after? someone please tell me!
138.
and how will they continue the anime passed the first season after they’ve cleared the game? What story is in store for season 2 after kirito comes out from the hospital room??
139. @Huami You need to read some more to know the end.

140. Will this series go into the direction of the agenda behind SAO, what’s the main character’s past with it, etc..?
After the 1-2 episodes it’s basicly just been a adventure story with few occasional questions by some characters, but no real sense of mystery.

141. @AMg, thanks for sharing. hot damn can’t wait for the next ep!
Go UTWoots!

142. @Huami
if you have just finished book 1 then you can skip book 2 and continue to book 3
book 2 contains only side stories, there are 4 SS there in which 3 was already animated, Sachi, SIlica and Lisbeth, the final one will follow the upcoming episode this week
If you want to find out what happened after Kirito woke up, continue reading Book 3 (or volume 3) of the LNs, it goes all the way to book 4.

143. Intense fight, all i have to say 😀

144. @1340
I just finished reading all the way to volume 9 of the LN… my goodness is the story long lol how many seasons with the how story of kirito and asuna stretch out? How many seasons in the anime? amazing
145. ah fak forgot the spoiler tag again, help! =(

Fixed.

146. Really cool ep. Thank you for your effort.

oh yeah Dual Wield

151. Just accept that all the plot devices are deux x machina stuff and quit trying to explain them logically because virtually none of it makes any real sense. Unless the villain built all his gear in his basement by himself out of impossibilium, his technology isn’t going to be hard to crack at all. (Do you have any clue how much safety testing a product like this undergoes before marketing?) Nor is he going to be hard to find, nor are many worried parents going to want their kids rotting in comas and suffering much higher casualty ratios than most armies in times of war. And who is going to trust this blatantly dishonest guy’s word that any of them will survive, anyway, when all they know for sure is he is butchering his hostages by the thousands. If my kids were under the axe, I’d be contributing to the reward fund and screaming for the heads of anybody who obstructed rescue attempts. And if they died while nothing was done, well…. Not to mention, why is somebody so smart doing something so stupid? Anyway, just enjoy the story for what it’s worth and forget about all that stuff. Overthinking is not a virtue here.
