Anyway, thank you so much for this release! I was about to go to bed when I thought I’d check your site just in case, and I’m glad I did.

Isn’t this show shaping up to be another _The_Giver_?

10. The QUALITY in the first 30 seconds alone really reflects the shitty sales figures.

Oh, so the world ends next week. Understood.

14. “Dashing through the snow….”
Hmmm… My speculation from the previous post were off a little bit. It’s more to
Maria will snaps and become one of the Fiend and hell-bent to destroy those who’re involved with Mamoru’s murder. And looks like next episode Maria stay behind with Mamoru to protect him from the fazecats/copycats/whatever-you-guys-translated-cats.
Oh well, we have to wait for next year to know for sure.

16. I’ve been wondering for a while now, but why do they even use boats and sleds when they can just fucking fly everywhere? Maria can just levitate herself and fly to places, and yet she chooses to hop around.
@Raze
Is there any difference between fujouneko and nekodamashi? Mamoru seems to imply they are the same.
Also relevant, that Board of Education chief is pretty hot. Guess I’ll have to wait two weeks to see her in action.

17. lygerzero0zero on December 22, 2012 at 8:30 am said:

@Sushi: It takes mental stamina and skill. Maria does the hops precisely because she’d run out of endurance on a prolonged flight (plus, they were looking for signs of Mamoru close to the ground, so she doesn’t want to be up too high). Meanwhile, Saki and Satoru have not mastered levitation, so it’s fastest for them to use boats and skis accelerated by their powers.
The adults call the cats “fujouneko” while the children call them “nekodamashi” in their stories. That’s all the difference there is.

18. The world “did end”, we are at the beginning of a new cycle of 5200 years as they say, so i guess we are “From the new world” too 😛

19. i wonder who translated this episode knowing vale is currently out of the loop due to his travelling. maw. many thanks for pulling this release through though! 🙂

20. @Koku
Nothing is happening… yet. Are you hoping some Azerbaijani will discover we humans have latent PK, don’t you? :3

21. Thanks! 😀

Interesting.
(I wonder who the woman in the preview is… an Education Committee person, maybe?)
A fairly straightforward episode; the one part that made me blink was the comment (not the translation, the original line) that if they didn’t hurry the tracks would disappear. Assuming semi-constant weather, that definitely shouldn’t be the case: if when you start out there are clear three-hour-old tracks, then if you spent an hour following them quickly on foot, then as long as you’re faster than a very-heavily-laden sled the tracks you’re then looking at will have been made quite a bit more than an hour later than the first tracks you saw. It’s not as though {all the tracks were formed simultaneously, and that there’s a risk that by the time you reach the end they’ll be almost completely covered up}.
…Hmm, putting it more numerically: Start out with clear 3-hour old tracks, ski twice as fast as a heavily-laden sled, and in an hour you’ll have 3(starting) – 2(subjective time covered along the tracks) + 1(objective time covered (increase for all tracks)) = 2-hour old tracks, which should be easier to see than 3-hour hour tracks rather than harder.
Rather than ‘if we don’t hurry the tracks will disappear’, it’s ‘if we don’t make faster progress on average than a heavily-laden sled, the tracks will get fainter instead of clearer’… granted, their mental states aren’t necessarily that reliable.

Thinking further on the movement of the legal abortion age to 17 (was that it?). ‘The age at which one can judge a new life to be viable, to be able to live successfully’… ah, it occurs to me that a different reaction would be to kill or exile everyone over a certain age, and have all reproduction done before that point… except there’s probably not a minimum age limit, even if there is a maximum one… though there might be. Interesting if one could set up a tiered structure whereby those in the ‘danger zone’ age were traditionally sent far away for a different sort of lifestyle… danger of them turning, surviving, finding their way back though perhaps… hmmmm….
Interesting to think about this question, particularly ‘What if it were oneself’… in Kara no Kyoukai there was a similar thought, wasn’t there, about if one were infected with a virus/disease that would wipe out a large portion of the population, and whether kindness or weakness would/could prompt suicide (according to the will of others) in that situation.
‘Leave the village and never return’… for both syndromes, that’s pretty much the only option if one wants to survive until old age or otherwise… but one has to be able to. Thought about this in the instance of Saki around the Shun time: ‘What is necessary to be able to leave and form a colony elsewhere?’. Of course, in practice one would probably need/want enough others for a stable gene pool…
Incidentally, it seems like the Gouma side would have the advantage of various cellular and other matters to aid in longevity, food intake et cetera. The Akki side would just be good at killing, while still susceptible to the normal causes of death. In either case, though, you need to be able to head away from the village and keep going, further than they’re willing to chase you. There’s the matter for instance of non-Japan countries… I note I’ve forgotten whether it was mentioned how they’re operating, in regards to this matter…
Stuck between a rock and a hard place if you can’t live without the rest of human civilisation, but the rest of human civilisation is trying to kill you. For life, necessary to cut ties with it completely. Mamoru made a good choice, but there was failure in trying to implement it. Of course, there’s also the matter of the effect on the world of an out-of-control god… a reason that Shun didn’t seriously contemplate leaving and life, presumably…
Also the option of changing the structure of civilisation in time, but probably not accomplishable at short notice.
Leave or die… couldn’t leave, so die…
Curiosity about what sort of thing Maria will do, and what Saki will do /afterwards/. Hmmmm.
In-ter-es-ting. *smiles*

Raze, will you guys be doing the 26 minute Carnival Phantasm OVA that comes with Type-Moon’s 10th Anniversary BD Box, assuming someone uploads it? It’s seperate from the EX OVA you guys already released. It’s scheduled for release on the 16th of January 2013. AniDB hasn’t put up an entry for it yet (for some reason).
Also, can we expect any Fate/Zero S2 BD’s soon? Just asking. I am still putting off on watching the show until I can watch both seasons in BD from you guys, but the wait is torture…
