I love how indecisive the animators seem to be on what -her- name is. They spelled it one way in episode four, and then a different way in this episode.

Ahh, wonderfulness.
I’m pleased that I mostly grasped the essential elements, though/and the part that most confused me was explained by a course of action not at all beneficial to the one responsible.
Somewhat uncomfortable with how I ended up suspicious of the true culprit for the wrong reasons. Somewhat prompted to wonder if, in the original game, there were more clues signalling that someone else couldn’t have done it. …ah, there was also that ‘discovery’ thing which I noticed previously that probably rules out at least one person, but which wasn’t touched on…
Other than the apparent, the jersey-noticing raises the strong question of “Why aren’t these people following a strict rule of only moving around in groups of three or more by now!?”. Maybe they’ll (try to) get more careful as time goes on.
Given a certain ‘imi fumei’ line, the very first spaceship-related punishment is looking as though it could be a strong clue to the ultimate origins of Monokuma.
Of the dead so far, there’s one I was glad to see go, one I was neutral about, one I was sad (and became sadder) to see go , and one I was very glad to see go (in that order). Also, one which might have been a slight relief to see go now hoping that will not go for at least a while. *smiles* Wonderfulness.
It should be enjoyable if there’s a new method each time to prompt people to action. If they get more and more compelling, the very first one is going to end up looking ridiculous (which should be amusing).
In short, (to an extent I would not have predicted) enjoying this series very much!

I had mixed feelings watching this. The story is somewhat good, but some elements feel out of
place. I’d like some elements to be a bit more realistic. Ok, I know there are elements like the ‘super high school girl fighter’ (or whatever the name was) that are not realistic, but they could be kept and are great
that way. Bu some elements, specially the punishment is out of place, also, I didn’t like the class trial, specially the game-like ‘objections’ and whatnot.
That being said, I will be watching this anime to the end. Some elements are really interesting. This episode had some nice things. The fact that the crime scene was actually changed by someone other than the murderer to mess up with the crime and try to caught him out of guard was interesting. Also, the little chat that bear had with, possibly, someone he sneaked between the high schoolers to cause chaos is interesting.

15. @Ecchiskecchi, the punishment is SUPPOSED to be out of place. The “game” they’re playing is all about killing each other, the mastermind is some dude controlling a really creepy bear, and the fact that the title says “despair” in it, out of place things aren’t a surprise.
So far this is pretty good. However, after playing the game, the pacing of it is kinda jarring for me. With how they pieced together that “investigation” in the last ep, you won’t really be sure who’s guilty unless you look really really closely or have played the game. But I suppose if that’s what they’re aiming for, props to them. It looks like they’ll focus more on the last arc, which is fine. Last one was the best.

Guys is it worth it to get a 1080p anime (BD) or is 720p more preferred (since animes are usually 720p right?) ?

I managed to get a PSP and now playing the game. After finishing 3rd trial, I’m still sad about Chihiro. I really had my eyes on her from the very start. The you-know-what didn’t really gave me a shock (ok, a bit, but it’s still weaker compared to Chihiro being murdered number 2).
@Ecchiskecchi: you can but the blame on Sayaka. the whole group is starting to crumble because she drew the first blood.

22. kidlat020 on August 3, 2013 at 3:26 pm said:

as for the game’s trial about Chihiro’s murder, this is how the murder happened in order:
So the biker guy hammered the dumbbell to Chihiro because of his jealousy to her strength, Chihiro dies, he swapped the murder room from guys toilet room to girls’ toilet room. Biker guy exited, then Togami actually saw him getting out of the crime scene. Togami enters the crime scene, then saw Chihiro’s corpse, then messed with the scene by crucifying the corpse to make it look like it was done by Genocider.
Why did Togami butchered the crime scene? simply because it was fun. of course the disbelief it all over the place since you don’t see a corpse everyday. but it was hand-waved nonetheless like it was nothing.
Unsurprisingly, the quality of this adaptation is deteriorating at a rapid pace. I frankly hope this is the very last series Kishi will have a hand at directing.
Important plot elements are glossed over in mere seconds while utterly trivial shit is placed at the forefront of every episode. I mean, how many goddamn times do you need to show off the spinning-courtroom animation that precedes every Nonstop Debate? Yeah, I get it, it’s faithful to the original source material. That doesn’t make it a good adaptation decision though.
I suggest to anyone who is actually interested in the story to ignore the animated series and play the original game first. The primary plot twist will be coming up soon and I have little doubt Kishi will somehow manage to make it as anticlimactic as possible. As a Danganronpa fan, I am disappoint.
