Nothing’s really changed, just basically whenever the episodes are finished. Uh 11 is waiting for 12 to be translated and 12 & 13 are still at translation. The translators been kinda busy with first episodes of shows for other groups and real life, but he said he’d try and get to them as soon as he can.

More seriously, though: thanks for letting us know it’s just the tl being busy. In my experience, people tend to feel more put off by the lack of news when they feel there should have been some already than by almost any kind of news. Not that this has the same proportion, of course, but the best example is when people disappear and the family members just want to be told what happened, even if that’s that the person is dead already.

@Draniz Finals are almost over at the Uni I’m at, so real life might be taking a short break. Or not. No one knows. Patience is a virtue, and there’s lots of other anime.
I shall continue to patiently wait (although those damned chibis on the top post don’t entirely help). I’ve already watched via CR as I watched the entire run on both translations anyway. (A lot of it worked better that way)
(That and I found my preference in translation was about 70/30 in your favour)
I guess the hardest part for me, personally, is that there’s one gag in episode 12 that CR completely ballsed up on a royal scale. And after watching the episode (and hunting down a scan of the original chapter to see why the audio and text didn’t add up…) I’ve been desperate to see how a more competent translation handles it.
I now proclaim this post DEAD.

i downloaded 11-13 from HS (who i really hate tbh) just to finish the series, but i will patiently wait for UTW’s last episodes, because the quality and effort they bring to fansubbing imo is quite high, and if people are going to talk shit about them then they should probably get fucked and switch.
UTW, please do not give up SYD. You guys have one of the best sub out there, please know that there are fans out here supporting y’all.

While obviously having to delay a release is hard for BOTH subbers and fans alike. I’ll try to see an unexpected good side effect from this. Namely having had time to rewatch the first season and reaffirming my love for this series. Still holding out on watching a self described “Horrible” release and keeping my distance from anything round and crunchy. Dung beetles can keep that stuff for themselves, but I digress. Reaffirming my as yet still untainted pure white oh so holy innocence. Of having never seen an episode of season two is a frustration akin no other. Oh when will this great urge, this holy itch, this mother of desire. Finally be satisfied. Oh for how long must this innocence blind me til it’s corrupted into joyous satisfaction. For now I wait. Patiently wait for that day, hour, minute and second that is to culminate in enrapturement to the fruit of bliss.

Yes when it’s done. But we don’t know when it’ll be done because people have other priorities etc. Sometime in the future, and no its not dropped. This will actually be finished (lol).

Appears to be a curse on Seitokai Yak. Never gets completed. The OVA as well… no group had done that comepletely. I wonder what the cause is.
The cause is translators getting tired of working on SYD. It’s hard as hell to translate the jokes, and well they just get sick of the effort required to make terrible jokes sound decent in english.
Im not one of the people to rush great work… But, if a translator is tired of working on a show would it not make sense to switch TL in order to finish a show in a semi timely manner (not saying anything must ever be released) rather than having a “massive delay”?
I really appreciate you guys’ releases, I hope that this group continues to bring its high standard for subtitles throughout a multitude of future releases.

In theory that sounds great, except if you don’t have another tl to switch with, then what do you do?!
Don’t mean to be pushy buuuut, is there any ETA (month/week wise) on the completion of this? I’ll wait until I’ve finished all of my other Anime before changing subgoups (thats about 1TB to get through) but it would be nice if we had some form guesstimation on how long is left. Even if its inaccurate or vague (i.e. to the month) I’ll take it.

Isn’t it usually the editor/QC’s job to handle the jokes? From my experience working on the OVAs, I fixed a metric ton of jokes and discovered many more through a series of several simple QC passes.
Mind you I myself was not planning on releasing the v2 of the OVAs until the new OVA comes out, so I guess I’m not doing anyone any favors. Did at least put the “2012” ones on animebytes.
As long as the TL does his/her best and passes on the TL along with notes stating the context of the scene or jokes to some effect, a series of QC passes should solve the issue outright.

Everyone works together here, so it’s a team effort. But the translator being able to get the joke across in a sane way helps the most, especially when the joke doesn’t make sense to non-japanese speakers.
Ah, so it’s a more fundamental issue then? I figured the translator was at least able to convey the gist of the joke, even if it took some work to bring it over to English.
I am interested to see what these complex jokes in my Seitokai Yakuindomo are, however. I was expecting sex jokes, puns, bokeh-tsukkomi and puns. What happened in the final episodes?

Good point, I was unaware that there were no other tl.
I would think the only other thing to do would be to try and get another tl from one of the groups UTW has worked with prior in order to deliver the same high quality releases in a time which many people will be thankful for and will more than likely cause them to be thankful and stop complaining for the time being (lol).
Or
UTW can continue to “postpone” the release of 11-12 in an effort to allow the original tl to continue Seitokai Yakuindomo* at their own pace, which is obviously the best course of action for maintaining stability within UTW. (however option 2 will cause more people to complain and be less thankful and more frustrated with waiting because people are ungrateful and impatient)
