Oh the things I do to make a blog post amusing… It took me all of ten whole stinkin’ minutes to paint.net that thing.
But MAN am I on fire for Nise! Epic sequel incoming, I swear. I’m burning through the novels as I type. No I’m not. I’m going to sleep now. But when I wake up, you know what’s goin’ down. My morale! Wait what no that’s a good one but NO go away now yes just leave okay good thank you!
So, as a show of my/our overflowing enthusiasm (he says as he shoves fake moshiburner behind the curtains), here is the following 60-second promotional video of Nisemonogatari, or, as we the staff have decided, Impostory:
Was it good? Yes it was. No it wasn’t? Well you’re no good either. Is ar’s typesetting fabulous? Yes, as always. Are fnord and Daiz going to work the hardest and get forgotten again anyway? Probably. IS THIS WHOLE THING A FAKE? THEN OUR PLANS MUST BE REAL!
…I think I’ll stick to easier jokes. I pray that someone understands it.

Okay, my turn. We decided to sub the above Nise PV as a “practice run” of sorts to figure out how we’d handle the translation of certain phrases and terms, and the typesetting. Things worked out pretty well, I think.
While ar was wrapping the signs up, it occurred to me it wouldn’t really be fair to Amagami fans if we subbed a Nise PV and just ignored dat Ayatsuji trailer. So… here it is!
Yeah, we’re reusing the fonts and stuff from the original. Nostalgia etc.
And no, we didn’t forget about Carnival Phantasm. Please see our release FAQ on the right for status information.

Is the localization used in the PV reflective of what you’ll use for the actual Nisemonogatari series itself?
If so, CAN’T WAIT!

They’re going to start with Ayatsuji too. I wonder if this means they’ll be doing it in opposite order of the first season.

I’m rewatching Bakemonogatari at the moment (I forgot all) and I’m glad the way the characters act are totally in line with how they did in Bakemonogatari, or at least they’ll begin Nisemonogatari so.
LMAO. I had my mouse pointer over the spot that guy was poking at 0:14 (Amagami) and that freaked me out, especially when my mouse pointer twitched and looked like it got bumped over a little.
Totally gonna watch these two beautiful animes from you guys. 😀

Whatever the signs require I suppose. I guess everything is weighed up on time to do the sign vs time available. I guess take a look at the typesetting on the preview, that’s pretty much what to expect.

Ok now that Crunchyroll has announced that they will simulcast Nise, will you drop it?
CrunchyRoll announced it will simulcast Nisemonogatari. I don’t doubt their abilities one bit, but at the same time, I’m not so sure they’ll typeset signs and other weird stuff SHAFT might throw in. I ask that you still do it, just so we have the option. Of course, I’m just a leecher, so whatever you do, I’ll still support you guys. Thanks for your great work.
Wow, totally ninja-ed on that. I was also thinking you could take their translations, and all you guys would have to do was typeset the signs.
So, Moshiburner will be translating Nisemonogatari instead of 8thSin? I am okay with that and actually prefer Moshi for a series like Nisemonogatari. Unlocalized is ideal than with more Americanized subs.
I imagine they’ll still be doing it, as Nisemono will be really typesetting heavy. HS’s rip will be a headache to watch.
Hopefully they dont screw over Rihoko this time 🙁
I think the best course of action for Nisemonogatari would be to check out CR’s version before making any final decisions. If they do a stand-up job, let ’em keep it. If not, do it yourself.

Hmm… Would you mind telling us if you’ll be able to release Amagami SS+ 01 in next 7 hours? I don’t know whether I should go to bed early or stay up ^^
In relation to Amagami SS Plus, are you releasing it as 8bit or as 10bit? I’m asking cause I give kudos to 10bit for its picture quality, but it’s hard to watch on a laptop, even with updated codecs. That and 10bit doesn’t give me thumbnails for the video files either.

@Zan It’s simply that “nisemono” means something that is a “fake”.
Also, is it possible to get a status update on Amagami SS+?
Normally, I just wait patiently, but I’ve been in an anime slump with not having watched anything in a while due to everything either ending or not airing due to the holidays; that, and it’s Amagami (and to make it even worse, it had to be Tsukasa first)… XD
Ok, we all knew, that Senjougahara had that kind of inclinations, but seeing is on a whole different level.
Please, please don’t drop Nisemonogatari. Crunchyroll will ruin it. There’s too many word plays, too many signs, etc that will likely go unsubbed.
It’s a shame about Nisemonogatari, but your reasons are understandable.
Regardless, knowing that we will get a quality release once the blu-rays are out is

Unfortunately it is not just about sub quality lets say that CR could actually do a better sub that UTW. Even if that was true I would still want the UTW release b/c the video and sound quality of their HDTV rip encode far far exceeds the stream quality of CR.
Just wanted to say that speed is not everything. I don’t speak for everyone, but for me, I don’t mind not watching a show for days (sometimes weeks) after an episode is aired, to wait for a better sub that actually does the show justice.
While we don’t know how it will turn out yet, I do hope you guys can reconsider if the CR subs turn out to be a total disappointment and disservice to the show. For a show steeped in Japanese folklore, tradition, superstition and wordplay, I am praying that CR will not localize anything in a bid to cater to the casual Western audience.
I totally agree with Actar, I don’t mind if I would have to wait, even a week if I have to. Also I don’t expect CR to put do the signs. Apart from that everything UTW does is also superior to CR.
well the CR subs for nise are actually great, and commie is adding the signs, so were all set for the TV release.
