Hey guys, this episode was pretty cool. Just one more episode left! I’ma be in Costa Rica and Nicaragua so have fun with the finale next week plz.
Ershin: I can’t believe Nikon almost forgot to use that picture.
Edit:  So uh, something went awry in the muxing process, and most of the fonts are missing.  It’s probably mostly unnoticeable, since the majority of the fonts used in this episode are Windows defaults, but one or two are not.  If you download the patch and launch the .bat, it should apply the missing fonts automatically.  My apologies for any inconvenience.  This is why I usually stay away from the actual file-creation end of things.  >_<

    Whats up with the subtitle spacing? There are huge spaces between letters. Did you guys intentionally do this or is it a problem on my end?

  5. Ershin on June 19, 2010 at 6:13 am said:

    Hmm. Probably on your end. Works normally for me in 3 different players. I have no idea what might be causing it though. Hopefully one of our more tech-savvy staffers can try and troubleshoot. You can always try remuxing yourself by downloading the script, too.
    Sorry to hear you’re having problems. ;_;

  6. Lloyd on June 19, 2010 at 6:14 am said:

    I figured as much, I’ll look into it and I’ll post if I find a solution.

    Uninstalled and reinstalled VLC media player but it hasn’t worked. Just to be sure, here is a screenshot a few seconds into it.

    Hmm. Well, you probably shouldn’t be playing it with VLC. We guarantee our subs work best on MPC, and they work just fine with WMP as well. VLC doesn’t generally seem to do well with softsubs though. I’d strongly recommend that you try playing the file with Media Player Classic, and see how it works out, Lloyd.
    That really is a crazy-looking glitch though. o_0
    By the way, if, for whatever reason, you don’t have MPC…it can be found here. I also recommend downloading the latest Combined Community Codec Pack

  9. Lloyd on June 19, 2010 at 7:04 am said:

    I finally got it working. Before you mentioned MPC I already tried it, but it wouldn’t show the subs. I did some tweaking in the options and had to switch something to “renderless.” Didn’t really know what I was doing >>;;; but it worked. I do appreciate your help greatly considering you were trying to help a lone person at this late hour. Thankyou very much =D your da best!

    Hi there, I have the same problem with the font style and spacing in this episode. I’m using last version of VLC, like Lloyd, so it might seem to be something related to the player. However, it’s really strange that it only happens with this 12th episode, as I’ve just watched 10th and 11th without any similar issue.
    I’ve just installed CCCP and MPC-HC, and it partially resolves the problem. The exagerated spacing is gone, but the font doesn’t seem to be the same that appears in previous episodes. Could it be that when merging everything in the MKV container, some assets haven’t been included?
    I’ll try to find out :D.
    PS: Great work with the series.

  12. If you’re having font problems, grab the font fix patch I’ve made up! It should fix them up!

  13. Yahiko Yagami on June 19, 2010 at 10:28 am said:

    Just in time, hehehe. I just saw the missing assets comparing episodes with MKVExtract, and was going to report it :).
    Thanks for a quick fix!

  14. Thanks for the episode.
    [spoiler]Damn, this episode was an emotional rollercoaster. It’s one of the few times that you watch a series and truly don’t know what to expect to happen. I’m really reminded of the “other world” from Clannad. Key is just awesome like that I guess.[/spoiler] I’m surprised I was able to type this. Yay booze.

  15. XviD is also .avi. It’s muxed in avi container, seems like i renamed it to .mkv unconciously~ 😀

  16. martinez on June 19, 2010 at 11:52 am said:

    i just want to suggest…..
    beside KLMP and CCCP…..u can also use XBMC to play MKV with softsubs….:D

  17. Soukyuu on June 19, 2010 at 1:07 pm said:

    @hmm: that’s why I love Key/Jun Maeda anime. Though I’d say Clannad was more dramatic than AB so far. I’m wondering what they want to do in the last ep?
    Thanks for the subs, UTW. Any plans doing the BDs? First one is coming out in 4 days.

  18. avi or not avi on June 19, 2010 at 3:37 pm said:

    $ mplayer avi.avi
    MPlayer git-035611f-4.3.2 (C) 2000-2010 MPlayer Team
    Playing avi.avi.
    [mkv] Track ID 1: video (V_MS/VFW/FOURCC), -vid 0
    [mkv] Track ID 2: audio (A_MPEG/L3) “MP3 -V5”, -aid 0, -alang Japan
    [mkv] Will play video track 1.
    Matroska file format detected.
    VIDEO: [XVID] 704×400 12bpp 23.976 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s)

    furthermore, an hexdump shows a matroska container, not avi

    You’re right. So the question is does anybody want a fix muxed in .avi or is .mkv fine?

  20. XviD in MKV container?

  21. __ar on June 19, 2010 at 4:04 pm said:

    Accident. 🙂 I’m upping a remux in .avi . I must have put the wrong extension in during audio mux.

  22. JerryTerry on June 19, 2010 at 4:14 pm said:

    @__ar
    I watch the HD versions, then collect the Xvids on my external to watch on PS3. Though MKVs aren’t compatable with PS3, so yeah, if it’s not too much trouble to mux it in .avi I’d love it. Or even if you just wait till the batch release to do it.
    Though if it’s an inconvenience, don’t bother – it’s not massively important to me, I don’t mind.
    Thanks either way.
