Here’s the v2 for episode 14. We fixed whatever translation errors were there, and the episode went through a re-edit. We also styled whatever signs there were, and fixed up the ED a bit. The timing was fine, thankfully.
Oh, and to everyone who posted saying our Italian was wrong: we removed it all.

Ya know.. I used to really enjoy this show but its like they stopped even trying to make Index a decent character. Its like he has a mentally handicapped ten year old with him at all times, and you just find yourself wishing she would stfu and go away.. really a shame, considering the direction they started with.

I’m just watching it and i’m really disappointed. I appreciate the effort on puttin italian subs but they are wuite messy. if you wanna some advice ask me, i’m italian and speak 4 languages (french, english, italian and japanese.)

Actually they should use an italian to speak italian. those phrases sounds absolutely awful and some are even wrong in pronounce.
Finally, at 19.06 the guy says
“Cercateli” (find them) (sounds like cercali, that is referred to a single person…)
“Devono essere in dentro” here’s anothe wrong phrase, the right one should be “Devono essere qui dentro” (they must be here)

well since its in japanese broadcats.. think about it from the broadcasters point of view: how much money would it cost to get a real italian speak those few lines- and how many people in your target audience will notice anyways? so thats why they didnt put thaaaat much effort in it. still more effort in it than most shows that use other languages than japanese and english. the german in the bleach bounto arc as well as in fate/stay night is a lot more awful than the italian used here. in the bounto arc, i barely even got to recognize my own language, so ba dwas their grammar and pronounciation. also it wa sobvious they used google translator. “tor, mache dich auf”, WTF? google translator, obviously…
I disagree. They should spend millions on it if only to set a good example for all the muppets who constantly butcher their language.

Oh give them a break. I could understand the Italian, even if it wasn’t completely accurate and they at least attempted to mask their own accents. Bear in mind that there’s a very good chance that none of them have spoken a word of Italian in their lives, they actually did pretty well, all things considered. It was far better than what I’m used to when it comes to foreign languages in anime.
No one cares if the italian is wrong guys…

Things don’t generally air on TV in 1080p, 720p is the highest definition you’re going to get.
Brixter: Because 720p is HD. Anything over 576i/p is HD, except in Australia, lol.

Besides the fact that putting out a 1080p release would just be an upscale, Index has never had blurays that were decently done to the point that even full hd looks rather shitty.

Just think of it this way, you italian-fluent folks out there: when you’re watching a release by a half-assed TL and no TLC that’s about how accurate the script is. And no, I’m not implying that the rest of our script sucks. inb4 LIBERAL FTW
I’m italian and the sentences are ok, sure not 100% polished but understandable.
Personally I think you should have released it with 3 sub tracks for the Italian parts, one with Italian+English, one with just English and one without either (I’m a bit annoyed the studio decided to add Japanese subs to some of the Italian lines, you aren’t supposed to know what they’re saying). That’s just me though.

Maybe 3. A lot depends on how much bcangroukd they’re going to cover in order to do it justice. Railgun’s and Index’s stories are almost completely intertwined by the 11th volume. This occurs much earlier, but the truth is the two series are very tightly plotted, including their timelines. The sheer amount of bcangroukd is a problem in that Touma and the Tree Diagram have to be explained unless they just want to take the attitude that only fans will buy it and they already know who these people are. Which I wouldn’t like, and think would be a bad mistake.I could see one being the discovery by Mikoto of the Sisters and the plan, with a significant portion of the story told from the Sister’s point of view (thereby introducing Accelerator to the audience early). The second OVA could be Mikoto’s war on the labs, culminating in her battle against the esper group sent to defend the last lab. I’d assume Mikoto would discover that she’d failed at the end, in order to set up a cliffhanger. The third and final would recap the last moves as Mikoto becomes increasingly desperate, and Touma becomes actively involved.A couple of observations on the novels I’ve read (which are only the middle; so far, the first two seasons of Index and Railgun have covered maybe 1/4 of the whole series!) There are some aspects that I don’t like, and consider worn-out tropes: Mikoto is becoming fully tsundere about Touma, who in turn is collecting a loose harem; loli, miko, magic girl (Railgun), ojou-sama (also tsundere); he ends up in the hospital constantly with Index biting him. Accelerator continues to be a part of the story, and he’s pretty messed up over killing 10,000 sisters but he is a decent person at his core, much to his own shock. Mikoto is apparently the only level 5 who is normal; all the rest appear seriously disturbed or simply amoral as hell. On the magic side, it turns out there are three major factions: British Puritan, Roman Catholic, and Russian Orthodox and they’re barely civil to each other; mostly hostile to the Science faction.And Alestir Crowley is well aware of Touma, whom he considers vital in his long-term plan to defeat all three major magic factions This series is a long way from mining out the source material.
