Hi guys, today is International Efficiency Day(IED). For our participation in the event, we’ve decided to encode all shows today at a CRF of 51 with 128KBps AC3 audio. As a result, our videos have been reduced in size by a revolutionary 60% and (given the 5k minimum number of downloads we get per release) have saved about 2TB in disk space worldwide. (ep1 had over 10k, so that’s 4TB(not TiB, binaryfags).) It’s our little way of saying thank you to the planet, and ensuring that we can continue to receive its blessings.
Speaking of efficiency, we’re lagging behind because someone *cough* keeps making *c__augh* eyecandy typesets. And those take too long to do. Now I’m not saying the next ep is going to have eyecancer, I’m just saying we’re too slow. We’ll do something about it, though.
Raze says:: Yeah Moshi is pretty well-known for his sarcasm. We realize we’re pretty slow with this show; the delays are caused by a work bottleneck with one person having to handle both encoding and typesetting (and real life). We’ll try to smooth things out before next week.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention what a babe Anaru is, dayum. She gets an additional 20 points in my book from this episode alone.
ar inputs: Due to myself stalling this release (legit excuses this week of course), I had extra time while typesetting to add more flowers for the episode title. Studies (by globally renowned scientists no less.) have proven that flowers are both fabulous and contribute to positive growth in female viewer numbers. Thus, by the final episode I believe we can achieve excellent growth in female viewers per episode and greater ratio of flowers softsubbed to original flower art (animation). (?)

  16. There are people who say the title is unrelated? Right after I watched first episode I found it obvious that the “flower (that’s what hana means, isn’t it?” is supposed to be interpreted as their bond of friendship in the old days.
    That is if my translation is correct. (“We don’t remember the name of the flower we saw that day.”)It’s not like I actually learned Japanese, I admit that.

    Oh dear, it appears we’ve offended the great influential leecher baka-sama in our act of translating! We strive to cater to your every need, but unfortunately TL notes and 100% completely unlocalized translations are just too difficult for novices like us to produce. I’ll have a word with the native Japanese translator for this show; you know better than we do, of course! Shall we also leave every basic weaboo word untranslated? Maybe we should learn to translate into weaboo too and include it as a separate subtitle track!

  23. Just watched both episodes back to back and noticed that the flashback scenes were translated differently – I think ep2 is more correct but not that it really makes much difference:
    Ep 1 – 17:45 – “Why would I like such a boring-”
    Ep 2 – 07:10 – “Why would I like such an ugly-“

  33. I like to ask random questions: I recently downloaded a Darker Than Black sub but every time it gets to where the OP should be, the video glitches and restarts back at 0:00… am I supposed to do something special to watch FLAC?

    If you are using windows you can try updating to this version of DirectVobSub:

    But honestly, we lag check everything on an oldish dual core notebook and the op/ed didn’t even lag on that. So if it’s due to your system not being powerful enough to render them there isn’t much we can suggest other than the above and or watch the show on a faster system.

    Do you know which subtitle renderer you are using? There isn’t any problems with VSFilter (DirectVobSub) so it may be MPC-HC’s internal one?
    I’ve added Closing Drawing Tags to this .ass script. Most likely it should fix the problem, if it does I’ll start using them from next weeks episode. They aren’t mandatory at least for VSFilter. Either remux the script or just rename it to the same as the mkv filename and it should open up as external subtitles.
    Let me know if this fixes it. Also let me know exactly what subtitle renderer you are using, so I can look into it.

    Also episode 1 didn’t have any drawings in it so yes it worked fine. If you are using vsfilter (albeit an anicent version) try updating to this:

    So you can do a re-encode, no. The script is posted above, but if you want the fonts you’ll have to download the release since any re-encoding has nothing to do with us.
    If somebody else is generous enough to demux the fonts and provide them that is fine, but we won’t be making fonts available openly to the public (other than muxed into releases) due to legality reasons (also no other group does).

  54. I have a pretty decent setup for MPC on a computer less than a year old which can play a normal show in 1080p without problems, and this is the only release of yours which I can’t play without it stalling (in the ED).
    Sure, with an absolutely optimum setup the people who have problems could play it, but it’s not worth having to take the time to tweak it just for one show that UTW does, and for unnecessary effects during the songs at that.
