This episode concludes the Durandal arc. Girl in picture is Saber with gray hair. As for the final fight, I was expecting a lot more flames (well, the fight seemed a whole lot more dramatic in the novels), but oh well. It looks like the anime should be able to reach the end of volume 3 in the novels.
If you’ll excuse me, I have to get ready for work. Ano Hana will come tonight (East Asia time).

I was disappointed by the fight scene.
That edge catching was lame. I was expecting the single handed version, as said in the novel.
A great anime, but a bit lacking in surprises.
The underwater kiss was so predictable. I saw that coming the second the water was rising and Aria left
31. Holy shit, it really was Saber. Not just looks either. Damn.

Diamond Dust Durandal Jeanne D’Arc >.<
Thanks to Riko Mine and Sherlock Holmes she will be awsome girl ^_^
haist…. as the Descriptions says…. Volume 3…. like my prediction…. but im wishing to end it on vol 5 >.< woooot

  35. I guess this is why
Caster thinks that Saber is Jeanne D’arc in Fate/Zero.
Either that, or Aria is just such derivative trash that it’s awesome… or not. I’ll still watch it though, I need my Kugimiya Rie fix, and I’m not watching Astarotte’s Toy even if the premise is a farce.
Seriously though, the first villain was all “I watched Speed too many times!” and now we get Saber Lily with grey hair and black clothing underneath her armor instead of white.

  36. Lambdadelta on June 3, 2011 at 3:45 pm said:

Was that Riko at the end?

  37. Kemm on June 3, 2011 at 4:04 pm said:

I know the end of each novel is the start of hte next, but novel 3 is one of the worst since th epilogue can’t be cut-off (by the way, novel 4 is the one with less plot and less scenaries, from ship to submarine and back again). It neeeds a 2nd season right after to not be too unnaturally and abruptly ending or showing script adaptation problems.

  38. Break on June 3, 2011 at 8:05 pm said:

@Rob astarotte is actually quite entertaining, if you dont mind that except for extremely symphathic characters nothing really happens. its got this feeling that goes to me like a mixture of hayate the combat butler and disgaea, just without any fights.
@Kemm since its rei kugumiya and J.C. staff, a secodn seson is pretty inevitable or just 24 episodes

  39. The script writing for this episode is just turrible….at least the Kampfer release made up for it. I hope this is a 12-13ep season. I don’t like quitting an anime half-way >.>

  40. UnLucky on June 4, 2011 at 2:35 am said:

    Jeanne D’arc, born in 1412
    Sherlock Holmes, born in 1854
    Arsรจne Lupin, born in 1874
Using the same generation size, if Durandal is the 30th generation, then Aria’s the 8th and Riko is the 7th… But if we assume that Aria and Riko are indeed both 4th generation, then Durandal couldn’t be more than the 18th generation.
They’d have to be pretty promiscuous to keep up an average of 20 years per generation. As a reference, Isabelle Romรฉe married at 18, and gave birth to Jeanne at 25.

My bad, I forgot the Vlad arc and skipped to the Patra-EU arc. They can close the season neatly.

  43. Of course Jeanne d’Arc is who I have always wanted Saber to be. All that gender-bending in ยซFate/stay nightยป is absurd.

  44. Break on June 4, 2011 at 7:32 pm said:

@Mithgol it wasnt even meant to be like that in the beginning; originally, shirou was supposed to be a girl and saber wouldve just been a real king arthur without genderbending. though i dont really mind it; what goes on my nerves is shirous “gahh im speaking with a girl and im a healthy young man omgomg” babbling.. i eman come on, no real guy thinks about it that way and that often!
though absurd it isnt. i mean it does make for a pretty neat backstory, and if your flatchested enough you as a girl can slip through as a very attractive young man in medievil; the fact that she diditn age anymore after 16 sureely came in handy here. the only illogical thing about it is sabers hair lenghth; if she really wouldve fooled her comrades into her beeing a guy, it shouldnt be that long(uncombed it is really long)…

Who knows, maybe King Arthur really was female ๐Ÿ˜€
