This season has been a sad one. What’s worse it was so out of character… but I guess that’s how it really happens. I’m pretty upset.

  17. Thanks for the new episode!
she’s not dead
19. @Malarkey
    … That just makes it worse… <_<;

  20.
I don’t get it. Why would a woman jump like that? Women prefer less painful methods of ending themselves than jumping. Slitting their wrists or meds. Idk.
Noooo!! That’s so sad.

Writer A: “So we’ve had a good bit of drama this season, eh?”
Writer B: “Yeah, but none of it’s really been close to home, has it? Just third parties and past stuff.”
    Me: ¬_¬ ‘I don’t like where this is going…’
Writer A: “Oh, I know how we can make more drama! And let’s do it right after the one-off super upbeat teamwork-friendship episode!”
    Me: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  25. @Mike Not all women go with those methods. Anyone can use any method.
    But wtf, I was expecting
something to happen to Toshi, not her try and commit suicide. Very shocking episode.
26. Noooooo
Why did they make her jump!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  27. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!
The one character I really like… GRRR. How dare they!

  28. I’m not expecting that things will go good with Ayaka after reading the post and the comments. I hope it’s not her at least, she’s my favorite girl of the series (Alice is second).

oh dear… something happens to someone… that’s the gist of what I’m getting (not looking at spoilers! NO!)
Thanks for the episode… hope no one dies… I really do!

  30. What the hell is with this episode, man? Seriously, what the hell?

  31. I’m pretty sure I guessed more or less the whole why and how things happened…but still I so F***ing hate that kind of story! Dammit I knew I should have waited at least for next epsiode!!!! At least so I could have the end of the story to cling to…

I dunno why, but since episode 1, I loved this anime….And thanks to this episode, kinda makes me wanna beat the crap outta the author….but gotta admit, thanks to that “thing”, the story got even more intriguing than it already was 😛
Thanks to wikipedia, I found out she isn’t dead(tch, didnt want to find it out that way -.-). bummer. Not like I wanted her to die, just that I got waay too curious.
33. auriculogenesis on September 10, 2011 at 10:43 pm said:

The most logical explanation for this is that
she called her brother and told him to meet at the rooftop of the school. An extra bonus would be that they shared some kind of memory together at the rooftop [cut scene to flashback]. [Scene cuts back to current time, school rooftop], she confronts brother, he gets pissed, lifts her up in the air, shouts “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THE F**K I’M GOING THROUGH, YOU WH*RE,” and tosses her off the rooftop.
Yes? No?

  34. Some random faggot on September 10, 2011 at 10:46 pm said:

Why? Why would they do that? Fuck you, Japan.

  35. Drama seemed too forced this time… ちくしょお前ら

  36. Thanks!
I didn’t find it that forced, maybe a little rushed. This was a good episode. They were all in character. Just the result felt a little unexpected due to the rushing, but almost all the episodes have been rushing aside from the last two episodes. I was expecting something bad to happen (as there was hints in every scene she appeared, how disturbed she was, even in some of the scenes before this episode), just didn’t expect it within this episode itself.

    Oh god! Nooooooooo!

  38. YES! JUST YES! AWESOME EPISODE!
We need more gutsy writers and directors like those that do KamiMemo. Lately is all about Moe and Loli Moe and stuff. Makes room to transform wimpy Fujishima-kun into not-so-wimpy character. Or at least is what I’m hoping for…
I liked her, and since I did like her, I am actually hoping that she enters into a coma or something and dies later… Yeah, I know… I’m going to hell.
39. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
WHY MUST YOU DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 PLZ B IN A COMA

im so confused now…
43. My guess at plot development: (Don’t blame me if I’m right, I already get pissed off at myself for guessing movie ending as it is.)
The brother is a main distributor of the drug, his friend (i.e. the botanist – big hint prbly) is the one making the drug.
Ayaka is being coerced (by brother?)into growing the plant used to make the drug (in the rooftop greenhouse), but only realized what the plant was for after learning her brother was a drug addict.
Even if she did know it was for drugs, that was the first she learned her brother was a user.
At the very end the “That place is…” Ayaka may have also thought that Narumi was on to her.
All this was coupled with the fact there was a good chance of her being exposed during the culture festival preparations…
But that isn’t why she jumped – I think that it’s why she took the drug, she decided to jump because she was under the influence.
But it’s only a theory though – if anything I’d be happy to be wrong.

  44. Whyyy? T_T

  45.
fuck this shit,…i don’t want to believe she is..
46. OMG WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
i literally almost screamed at the end of this episode
    omg why
I see pretty much nobody’s been reading the manga then, or else this wouldn’t have been as much of a surprise. This happened even before the start of the manga’s timeline (episode 2 of the anime), although the exact details haven’t been mentioned yet as far as I’ve read.
I was actually surprised when she made it through the first few episodes of the anime, to be honest. Of course, the manga is a little darker all around (for example, Meo was getting married to her “father” (actually step-father).
spweasel, i’m not 100% of the accuracy of the manga, the light novels are probably the ones to go off, but nobody has translated those.

  50. i’m shocked at the end! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
and she’s so pretty on that screenshot *hiks*
52. Andromeda on September 11, 2011 at 9:07 am said:

nooooooooo why the hell would they do that to a character that was built up to be so nice and innocent.

  53. coma it is.

  54. So that’s what we get for the anime creators messing with the novels on their own…
    Spoil yourselves if you wish:
The story of Ayaka, her attempted suicide and following coma, was in volume ONE of the novels. Anime so far skipped that part, went into subsequent volumes only to return to Ayaka now.
Hint, hint: we saw her in what we know to have happened after the jump and coma… so what do you think will happen?
Of course, if they left it untouched for so long, they could change it – I’ll rage hard if they do.
That said, moving this particular arc will sure mean things end with a bang, and changes you see in Narumi make more sense when we could see the link between the two establish. All depends on if they plan to follow the novels with this, or not.

    WWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!??????

  56. I hope it was her twin that was held back for research at the botanical research and suddenly escaped and did suicide, or that it was J.C. Staff or the original writer trolling.

  57. ShionKasumiga on September 11, 2011 at 1:17 pm said:

Okay, so i raged and i calmed down, so i googled around and found out that in the original light novel Ayaka jumped from the building and went into coma, after that she regain consciousness but suffers amnesia and does not remember anything about Narumi. Hopefully the anime follows this plot. I really can’t accept Ayaka’s death.

  69. WHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  70. This episode…
Since I saw it last night, I’ve been awfully depressed.
It’s not just what happens… It’s how it happens, in the context of the whole episode, and the series.
It just… Flipped a WHYYYYYY switch, and how…

  71. GLWD’s comment (2011-09-11-03:21) pretty well summarizes what I was thinking as the episode unfolded. Did NOT expect it to end the way it did though. Hot damn.

  74. Well that was depressing….

WWWWWWHHHHHNah, just kidding. If a series is good on TV, I don’t care if they crew with the source a bit.

  76.
Ayaka, WHHHHY!
77.
The way that last minute came across, it could’ve sounded like a really misconstrued time flashback – it could’ve happened early in the series and still fit within the context of events. The key is in whether that “smile” phrase was a past thought or one made later on in the night. (I didn’t think anything of it until rewatching that part a week later)
78. i thought it was seriously obvious she was about to commit suicide when she was smiling anyone else not surprised?

  79. I have to say, that really caught me off guard

Dang, in the 1/3 part of the episode, I fell sorry for Ayaka for having such a burden, well what can I say? She’s a good girl, cheerish, innocent.
In the 2/3 of the episode, I felt good again because seems like she’s back to her old self again..
In the 3rd part, I sense something bad after she eavesdropped on tetsu, but things would be better after ayaka smiled on narumi.
    But in the end.. WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
Man, I’m really depressed after watching this episode.. Will watch the next one after have relieved..
