Fall 2012 Plans
Sword Art Online continues into the Fall 2012 season.
Our new shows are:
- Shinsekai Yori – We’re taking it nice and slow subbing the first episode, so don’t expect it any earlier than tomorrow. Whether we’ll continue with it or not depends if CR is simulcasting with the CS-Asahi broadcast (which is the first airing and what we’ll be using) or with the terrestrial broadcast (which is 5 days later). We will drop it if it’s the former.
- Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai – This will be a joint with rori Fansubs, and we will be releasing under the URW label (short for “Unlimited Rori Works”; Pedobear would kill to get in!).
- Little Busters! – We will be joining forces with our good friends over at Mazui again for this show. If this gets licensed, we will drop it if the streaming is available any earlier than 24 hours after it airs in Japan.
That makes four shows this season (oh boy). Here’s to another great season of anime!

Any else saw the first episode of Shinsekai Yori that came out on nyaa.si, it looked like a 480p?, and this is awesome, might of been awesomer if you picked PSYCHO-PASS, since it was done by Gen Urobuchi?

I wish you could sub Psycho-Pass and Robotics;Notes though. Psycho-Pass was done by Gen Urobuchi and the cast, OP song, and everything just look like they will be really awesome. And Robotics;Notes was the “sequel” to Steins;Gate, well not really a sequel but the story takes places in the same world of Steins;Gates true end and 5pb is the original creator of both, not to mention Steins;Gate’s story is awesome as hell.
Well, but sadly you can’t. I’ll just be waiting for your Chu2koi and Little Busters! (And Shinsekai Yori perhaps.) Thank you for picking them up!

We tend to avoid noitaminA shows because they’re prime Crunchyroll simulcast targets. Also, although we found a new translator, we’re subbing enough shows as it is.
What isn’t a Prime Crunchyroll simulcast ><. They literally grab there hands on everything. Hopefully they don't pick Little Busters!, or if they do pick it few days late. Shinsekai Yori is a 5 day late simulcast and will be airing every tuesday. Looking forward to your releases ^-^

i’ll be watching chuunibyo demo koi ga shitai and little busters…. im glad that you still undecided about shinsekai yori..my opinion would be, if in case you dont sub yori replace it with psycho-pass but i still respect your choices and i know you have RL stuff so i’ll just be going with the flow

Was hoping you would pick Psycho-Pass, but guess these will do to. I thought I wouldn’t watch Chuunibyou and Little Busters, but with you guys picking it up guess I’ll watch them. Fall will be amazing!
Just FYI, Crunchyroll will be simulcasting Shinsekai Yori with the earlier simulcast, starting with Episode 2 (according to their website).

Thats kinda weird. The official announcement says.
“Shin Sekai Yori is set to broadcast every Tuesday starting on October 2, at 12:40 pm Pacific Time”
While when you click on the show itself they say “Simulcast on Fridays 12:00pm PDT”

Yes, STARTING on Tuesday October 2, ie. that’s when the first episode airs (the first ep is delayed).
From then on, it’ll simulcast at Fridays, 12:00pm PDT (which is around 3.5 hours after the Japanese TV airing).
Later episodes won’t be delayed, presumably.

Its just confusing. They could be using the later broadcast, it may air the first episode on October 2nd, but they could simulcast it on Fridays only. Like horizon airs every Saturdays (PST Time zone), while simulcast is a late one which airs every Tuesday (4 days later)

I actually hoping the children, shoujo and short anime series getting simulcasted because most fansub groups nowadays doesn’t seems to do these kind of series.
I hope Viz announce they are simulcasting Kami-sama Hajimemashita because they licensed the manga and I also hoping CR September 30 announcement is Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.

Nice to see your project lineup… but I’m expecting something like BTOOOOM, K or Zetsuen no Tempest as one of your releases. Coz I noticed those anime’s I’ve mentioned are usually the same genre as that of Fate/Zero and SAO which you’ve released the best so far.

I’m hyped to see Shin Sekai Yori since I saw the pvs. It was one of the best pv I’ve seen this season. This seen to be a great season, I’ll be watching for sure 5 or 6 series.

I guess the ‘drop because CR is subbing’ is understandable… as frustrating as it is. Even if I wanted to bring in the argument of ‘CR doesn’t support all territories’, there will be groups like HS around.
Well, if that ever happens, I do pray that subs are at least palatable.

Didn’t CR also sub Steins; Gate? And they did a good job at that – in contrast to Commie -, so I’ll just hope that whoever was responsible for the translation will also work on Robotics;Notes and Psycho-Pass.

why do groups dropped shows picked up by CR or that are licensed?
Groups dropping shit when it gets licensed is just a punishment for non-Americans in my opinion.
The only target market for anime outside of Japan is America (and maybe Australia), and that’s it. Everyone else just gets ignored.
CR shouldn’t affect projects. You do a project because you want to do it, not because cursed Crunchyroll decides to simulcast it. If CR has good translations just use those as a base or w/e and perfect the rest such as the editing and typesetting. Little Busters deserves a A+grade release. It’s little busters, one of, if not the best VN Key ever made!
Thankfully that kind of shit doesn’t happen anymore. (Unless you’re AQS-Anime.)

Even though I said they mostly suck is because I’m bias.
Sometimes they release anime a lot earlier than most fansubs do and sometimes fansubs think that they’re putting too much effort on anime that’s subbed a few hours after broadcasting and so they would drop it. Or another reason they would drop it depends on CR’s translations for other anime series. CR do get the scripts (I think) to translate. It depends on CR’s translations and how hard they’re actually working on making the subs. Some translators in CR either don’t care and just want to get it over with. Or actually “try” and sub it really well.
I probably don’t know what I’m saying and what kind of trouble I’m about to get into, so if anyone out there who can correct me, please do so so I don’t say any other stupid things later on in the future…

UTW, Rori and Mazui, my current three favourite fansubbers, and they are doing joint projects on the two animes i’m really looking forward to this Autumn season.

Shinsekai will most likely be dropped by UTW. They’re going back to normal schedule on Friday simulcasts which is the earlier date. October 2nd they will air 1st episode, and then on Friday the 2nd.

I don’t understand why fansubbers drop series just because it’s simulcasted, there’s still much to improve even if translation is perfect – typesetting, karaoke, some typos are bound to happen… and that’s the best case scenario.
OTOH, there are shows subbed by six groups 😐
Still, I’m really happy about your choices in anime (well, almost everything will probably be great in Fall but you chose two out of four biggest shows) and in group joints. Unlimited Rori Works ftw.
I finished the Little Busters visual novel (the original) last night. My heart is dying now. For those who want a tear jerker, IMO this is better than Clannad. THEY BETTER ADAPT ALL THE WAY THROUGH REFRAIN AND EPILOGUE!!

I’m guessing you would support an “official” release if it were available in your country? Seeing as you’re saying that it’s not a punishment for Americans, I’m guessing you’re saying that CR is acceptable? If you intended to pirate it in the first place, you might as well get it from a rip group seeing as CR is acceptable.
Unless you’re saying that they should keep producing translations/releases for non-Americans to get these simulcasters to release to non-Americans. That’s an entirely different story.

I don’t know the proportion of good translations to bad translations, but 8thsin’s Hanasaku Iroha translation check pretty much supports what you said. (wasn’t Kokizzzle from Eclipse the one that did it?) Not to mention UTW said that Steins;Gate was fairly good too. They have good ones and bad ones.

Because you “should” either “support” CR or you might as well just pirate it from any source you can get(not to mention some CR rip groups DO actually do some karaoke, typesetting, and editing afterwards, although probably not to the level that they would like from UTW, which is why people probably would whine about it).

Or they do it because they feel the time is worth it. There’s a possibility that they only do it because they feel that the time put into it is worth it. In this case, whether or not CR puts it out at an acceptable time after it airs in Japan. If this is the case, then editing and typesetting has nothing to do with why they produce their own translations/releases. Considering the amount of joint projects and the fact that Raze and UTW’s TL crew is about to(or already) have Life(TM) happen to them, time is a huge concern.

Like I said, there are always the groups who do CR-based scripts and actually do editing and typesetting. And it’s not like sub groups are completely free of errors either(then again, UTW hardly ever has errors, if that’s what you’re arguing. I don’t remember the last time they had a v2 aside from BD releases). In your case, you seem to only want UTW-style typesetting, kara, and editing, which is understandable.
Most of you guys seem to only complain that you pretty much like UTW-style editing, typesetting, and karaoke(HELLO LAG FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN’T INSTALL XY-VSFILTER or have an old computer.) A smaller group of people “seem” to actually know Japanese and assume the worst, that the translations will be bad (and a smaller amount don’t even consider that there are some good translators at CR and that the best shows won’t have them working on them).
Oh, oddly enough, I didn’t see anyone say anything about the encode.

I don’t think you should be starting an anime you plan to drop. Even if it’s streamed really fast, I don’t think that’s an excuse to abandon something you started. So… yeah. Either don’t sub LB at all, or stay with it to the end please (especially since you’ll be working with the resources of two well-established groups combined).
Where is LB CONFIRMED as 26 episodes? The broadcast schedules I can find list it up to 12 or 13 episodes, which is obviously not the full schedule because they wont fit it all in those amount of episodes. As someone who beat the VN, I dont think 26 will be enough unless they omit a ton of awesome stuff. Just wondering if there’s 100% confirmation of the amount of episodes or if it’s just speculation, because I don’t see anywhere on the official site a confirmed number. Thanks for subbing it, Can’t wait to see how well (or bad) they do with it. I kind of regret beating the game first since I’ll have something to compare it to now…
