Sorry for the delay. I made __ar re-release because I forgot to make a script for changing Biribiri to Sparky. Remember to change the script to the second track for the better version!

I’ve also made a poll, as the Index move has been uploaded. I want to know whether or not you’d like to see us sub the camrip and release it, or to just wait for the blu-rays that come out in August.

The camrip will have Chinese subtitles, and the quality is fairly low. Here’s an example screenshot, including their song translations. We would add the subtitles in a readable place.

Be sure to vote and enjoy some Sparky action!

  1. I don’t understand the last sentence of this post. The Index movie (typo?) that was just in theatres not long ago? And not seeing the poll anywhere.

  2. @Anon: Movie release date is on August 28 for BD/DVD. I don’t know what they’re talking about and what poll??
    They’re a mess right now.

  3. @Anon2
Yeah, I was pretty sure I had seen that release date somewhere.
Anyway, post got update, so it’s a camrip. I suppose there’s not much difference if it gets subbed now or then, probably won’t be many extra scenes on the Blu-ray… and it would be released that much quicker when the Blu-ray does roll around.

  4. do the t/l on the cam, wait for bluray or dvd to actually encode and sub. cams never have good enough video or audio.

  5. I have an idea. Why not just do the translations for the movie now, but don’t even bother releasing the shitty camrip. Then when August rolls around all ya gotta do is encode and typeset that bad boy then release it! That way you got months to work on the translation.

  6. Plz, no. Camrip is just eyecancerous. Maybe you can translate it now, but don’t bother to release the show. All for BD!

  7. Whoo, this seems like we’re heading into the midseason climax. Any idea if they just skip forward to the arcs they did in the manga or if JC has their own intermediate arc planned (honestly not sure which one I’d prefer)?
Also I’d rather not have a camrip subbed, just wait for a higher quality release imo.

  8. >I forgot to make a script for changing Biribiri to Sparky. Remember to change the script to the second track for the better version!
    u avin a giggle m8?

  9. @A Certain Vending Machine Next EP is proceeding according to the novel (Finding out Tree Diagram doesn’t exist anymore, etc) and we’re hopefully gonna get towards Accelerator vs. Touma by the end of ep13. Just a wild guess.

  10. Thanks so much for the episode!
And as for the vote… I said no… quality takes precedence over speed
    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

  11. *Goes to episode 7 release*
    > dat cap. dat hair. dem eyes.

Someone forgot to update their calendar, it’s not April anymore.

  12. Hey thanks for the new episode as always!
Just some things I have to say though. Firstly I personally vote no for the subtitling of the camrip of the Index movie. The blu-ray is just a few months from now so I think we fans can wait for the more superior quality. Secondly, why sparky? I know localization is good for the most part but IMO we have grown used to her simply be called biribri and using sparky sounds just plain wrong.
But hey, beggars cant be choosers so whatever floats your boat. Again, thanks for the new ep!

  13. Thanks for the release. I can already see the poll going against me, as I’d rather the Bluray of the movie was subbed. If I’m going to watch the movie, I want to see it properly first time. As long as you sub the Bluray when it is released as well, I’ll be happy.

  14. Yeah sure go for it
People will watch it, the subs will be out there for people to steal and make their own shitty encodes, and then you can decide if you want to bother doing the bluray as well

  15. On whose judgement was it changed from Biri Biri to Sparky? Biri Biri sound lots better than Sparky. Sparky sounds unnatural. Sighs. Please change back to Biri Biri… or Poll it if you wish.

  16. Thx for the epidsode, and I agree I would prefer to see the BD Version of the movie instead of a shitty camrip.

  17. “Sparky” ? You serious ? Is this “My little pony” ?
    +1 for Biri biri
+1 for NO to camrip. Quality over speed/quantity when it comes to movies.
Thanks for the episode, can’t wait to see Touma vs Accelerator from Misaka’s point of view.

  18. Biribiri is a Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of electricity. Leaving it untranslated is the same as leaving nyaa~ or kawaii untranslated. It’s retarded and reeks of weabooism. Sparky is an absolutely brilliant way of localizing it as it gets the point across while sounding demeaning, which is exactly what that nickname is supposed to do.

  19. >all these weebs
eta until you release closed captions for maximum kawaii desune
also start translating honorifics already you faggots it’s 2013

  20. thanks UTW for the hard work.
don’t do the shit camrip, people will just return whining about the quality of it, even though they were told over and over it was a camrip.

  21. Another Biribiri vs Sparky debate ensues.
::watches the Comments number climb toward the 1k mark again::

  22. Is there some reason not to sub the camrip now for those who want it? It’s not like you’re going to have to re-translate it for the blue-ray later. If people don’t want to watch the shitty quality, it’s not like you’re forcing them to.

  23. Thank you for the release. I’ve been looking forward to this bit of nostalgia.
As for the whether you sub the rip, it doesn’t really matter to me either way. I’ll still wait until the Blu-Ray release to watch it. Although there’s no reason you couldn’t sub it for the those who want it. Since the subtitles are in Chinese, I assume the spoken language is Japanese and since you’re already planning to do the movie, there’s no reason not to translate it now as it might make it easier later. However, I respect your opinion as to whether you decide to release it as typesetting and encoding will make the job more difficult.

  24. Just to add my opinion towards the movie, I’d really like to see the camrip subbed because spoilers will be going around now that the rip is out regardless, and I’ve been really looking forward to watching the movie. I guess it would also speed up the actual release when the BD comes out with all the tl and such done?

  25. FFFFF I want to watch it but my torrent is suddenly slow.
Even though I am connected to 19 seeds I only get 21kb/s download speed. My ISP is fucking with me, isn’t it? =_=

  26. I didn’t see anything noted in the final ep post so I have the same question regarding episode 13. Would choose to wait if you all are doing it.

  27. Noblewolf19 here again. So I heard there are some here that call us who think that biribiri is better than sparky as weebs or weaboos. I’m not sure how strong this argument is but this is just my personal opinion on the matter. Biribiri should not be translated to Sparky because, despite being an onomatopoeia for well “spark” and can be localized as something sparky, it was used as a name and should be retained as such. To translate it to Sparky would be the same as translating Kamijou Touma to “One that purifies God and exorcises the Devil” cause that’s what his name means(source Toaru wikia) and the same goes for the other characters.
But like I said before, its up to you as the translators and I’m just glad to have my show translated~ Here’s to hoping you make the right decision.

  28. Thanks for the release!
Anyone got any ideas what the censored object shown at 17:44 and 20:04 is? Beside the fallen goggles…
(I think it’s gum, but why censor it? 😐 )

  29. Thanks for the translation guys.
Kusion, for me it doesn’t matter if you use Biribiri or Sparky. For me what is the most important is that I get my weekly doses of Misaka-sama (and a topping of Touma).
As for the camrip of the Index movie, just use the camrip for translation and wait for another 2 months.
The movie is already out in theaters in Japan since February, so wait another 2 months is nothing to compare to get bad audio/video quality from a camrip.

  30. For those complaining about Sparky vs Biribiri: there are two scripts to choose from. The main script that you’ll be watching has Biribiri, whereas the secondary script (where you have to change the subtitle track) has Sparky.
If you’re just watching it and not messing around with the subtitle tracks, you’ll still have Biribiri. If you *want* to see Sparky, then switch to the second script and you’ll get it.
There’s no other change to the scripts other than that. There’s absolutely no reason to complain about it.

  31. @kuagelo
According to the Index wiki its actually the clone’s finger that was spat out, which is why it was censored.

  32. When the OP starts up I almost start screaming like a middle school girl at a justin beiber concert

  33. @kuagelo
Yup, it’s the clone’s finger. In the novels Accel-chan was curious as to what it would taste like, and found it tasted like shit.

  34. And, since we were given choice BiriBiri vs Spakry by giving us two scripts – the war should be over now. Whoever wants Sparky – switch to second script and be happy 🙂
    @Revelations:
that’s quite pervy – tasting dead people’s fingers … he should have chosen different part of her body iykwim 😉

  35. So many people whining about Sparky when the word was said approximately one time in the entire episode. Give me a break. Not to mention it’s completely irrelevant when UTW is letting you choose. This is almost as bad as the people who complained about the German in Commie’s GuP despite the big text at the start of the episode saying they could switch tracks. Maybe worse because it’s even more trivial.
Furthermore, they even used Sparky in the official translation.

  36. Chu2koi OVA already done by gg subs, imho quality is rather good / acceptable. Nibutani x Deko flag risen 😀

  37. @railgun
gg is terrible, would rather wait for a group that actually cares about the work they do.

  38. The sheer number of complaints about one word in the release. Sorry, make that one word that you don’t even have to see if you don’t want to.

  39. Wow, a sparkling war… Amazing that you bother to create two tracks, Kusion. As the effort of MKV extract, global replace, remux is kinda sanpun… 😉
And please don’t waste your precious time on subbing camrips of a film that is based on video quality 🙂

  40. I don’t see a good reason to sub it… If people can’t wait for a decent quality release they don’t deserve to watch this movie.
I guess you can (however) start trying to make your scripts and stuff so when it DOES come out you’ll have an easier time subbing it =)! :CAPTAINOBVIOUS:

  41. >take 2 months to watch this episode
    >see that american english is used
    >spelling judgment with 2 e’s (is british english)
(multiple occasions, 11:55 being one of a few cases, same scene)
