Unlimited Translation Works

"Where's Tamayura?"

After a long discussion with the staff, we are putting Tamayura on hold. The amount of effort that goes into an encode is not worth the quality. Not to mention we’re having a big problem with capping AT-X, which slows us down a lot. The staff on Tamayura have been busy with real life events, and we apologize for that. In all honesty, I haven’t had much chance to play iM@S2 yet. I plan to do so later this week, though. Remember: the stalls only affect Tamayura, and everything else will be released at the same speed.

Our plan is to continue translating and editing every episode, and holding it for the blu-rays (some decent 720p quality, at least). With that said, episode 4 will be released within the next few days, and episode 5 will be held for the blu-ray. If you’d like to see the translations (not timed to a script), we’ll post the raw versions up so you can see them.

We hope to see you back for the blu-rays (THEY’LL BE BETTER THAN THIS TV AIRING CRAP).

1. :/ that’s a downer but as long as you don’t drop it then it’s okay. Gotta watch streaming now though. thanks for the heads up.
last! screw you “firsts”!
This is disappointing news. Tamayura was one of my favorites this season, even if it did not look that great. I may take your TL and finish it myself, or be lazy and forget about it until BD.

3. “Where’s Tamayura?”
No, I’m asking where Carnival Phantasm is.

4. Any other decent groups doing this? That was the main reason I went with you guys

I can’t wait till I get my copy of iDolm@ster! I ordered it from Play-Asia, but I was a bit late and the they have that marker that says “usually ships within 1 week.” hopefully i get it.
Do u have a XBOX or a PS3?

6. altairian on November 2, 2011 at 5:36 am said:

Not sure why you guys feel the video quality was an issue here. It’s anime, it doesn’t need crystal clear detail, especially not a show like Tamayura which is largely centered around character interaction. Understandable if getting the raw was causing difficulty, but I feel like not doing a release just due to not having 720p is silly, the releases weren’t suffering due to the video quality.
I love UTW’s work regardless, disappointed I’ll have to wait for BD’s to finish this show, I’m way too lazy to hunt down a different release that’s actually a decent translation.

7. @altairian
You seem to misunderstand. There were two problems: The first and most major one was nobody having much free time at the moment. The second and less major was myself, the encoder, having to spend 12+ hrs each week encoding the episodes so they would look upto my own release standards. I really just don’t have that kind of free time at the moment, so along with kusion and fotc both being really busy too, we decided it was best to leave it until Blu-ray when hopefully all of us have more free time.

8. Kusion on November 2, 2011 at 5:43 am said:

@VinceNoir – Maybe I’ll time it to some random raw for you guys to mux yourselves.
@Derpy – Soon. my friend! Soon.
@fat – Try searching NyaaTorrents. All I know is that Oyatsu and Nishi-Taku (or whatever they call themselves) are the other two groups doing it.
@Animebaka – I have it for both Xbox 360 and PS3.
@altairian – A lot of it has to do with the amount of effort put into the encode itself. The time spent working on it isn’t really worth the quality of the final release. Let alone the fact that we’re a week behind (two?) on the show. We’re just busy as hell, really. I make my schedule free every Thursday and Saturday for IDOLMASTER and C3, but I’m not the one translating the shows. It changes when I have to do a majority of the work ^^;
The decision may change, and we may end up releasing it weekly again, but I don’t want to trouble our encoder to put all this effort into a show I basically forced him into.
This is our plan so far, but it’s still subject to change. We just chose the lesser evil. I wouldn’t have any high hopes, though.

10. @My Required Name
Their release is pretty good, so there’s no reason not to use it. The encoder knows what he is doing, so from an encode point of view, I can recommend them.

Good decision, it was late and disappointed many, but it’s good for me 😉
The 4 OVAs were utter shit on the transport stream, but the two BDs were pretty much decent and very watchable

@My Required Name – To my knowledge, both groups have respectable (to some extent) translators, too. Dunno about editing or anything else, though.
@1st anon – Hopefully that’s the same here.
@LinhLynk – Shouldn’t be delayed at all.

IM@S2 is a great game. There are no death, gameover or any other stupid boring punishment in this game. The only thing need to do is enjoy the game, enjoy the story, the song and the stage. But the DLC is ultra expensive, it will take more than 1000$ to pay them all.

20. With the speed I’m watching tamayura at, I might just get to episode 5 when you start releasing Blurays.
I’s sooo slow that I can’t watch it really often, I have to be in the mood for it.
Currently on episode 2.

21. Not that I’m particularly interested in Tamayura, but isn’t it a little bit funny to be dropping a series after only 3 episodes?

22. @Drano
They’re not dropping the series >.> Just putting it on hiatus(ish) until the blu-rays come out

Oyatsu are just a bunch of Doki staff under a different name. 8thsin’s blog says they’re the worst for Tamayura.
EveTaku are serious business however, especially now that they have an encoder.

I read the comments and were pretty disappointed with the amount flaming targeted at Oyatsu. According to your translator (Kusion), he seems to be implying that their translations are not up to par. I read with interest that your translator is accusing Oyatsu when he also happens to be part of Nishishi who Evetaku is jointing the series with.
Aside from that, I understand the problems with their releases. Their translations are good, but their lack of edit and style of edits are very brief and raw. This is what is making them being perceived as weak releases.
Their group lacks an encoder, so they can only use shareraws. So based on video quality, they lose.
Alas, i’m not taking sides but i’m disappointed a member of such an established group had initiated such suggestive comments trying to degrade the reputation of the other group when they are doing the opposite; praising and giving recommendations where due.

34. I just realized 8thsin is from this group as well…
In anycase, look at ji-hi. The first few screenshots clearly shows that UTW-Mazui releases has missing translations.

@SotongBoy – Don’t take my comment to heart. I base it on nothing, as I know nothing.

LOL inb4drama
Oyatsu’s is STILL WAYS OFF in terms of translation accuracy. That is evident in their latest releases. (particularly Mashiro Iro Symphony)
While they’re not particularly bad, they still need to improve, which is what Kusion is saying.

37. I’m always up for a wait if it means higher quality stuff. You guys have my full support.

39. Piotrbov on November 2, 2011 at 6:43 pm said:

;( ;( ;( Nooooo

40. @SotongBoy
Just as I was able to spot out Oyatsu’s inability to translate even though I didn’t know they were associated with Doki, it doesn’t matter what group he’s in. Good translations are good, and bad translations are bad. It’s that simple.
Edit, TLC, or QC runs can potentially fix failures by the original translator in Nishi-Taku releases.
And no, their translation (the final product) was not good at all. I had originally thought they were a new group with their translators trying to learn Japanese.
Take my comment to heart. I base it on everything, as I know a lot about everything TLC.
@Troll
Yeah, but I rated this release lower than Nishi-Taku. Read above.

Besides, this isn’t exactly a show which you definitely have to watch every week it comes out. I guess I have to be in the mood to watch it, or else it just doesn’t work.

58. Sad to hear, thanx for what you have done up to now, I will wait for your BD release to archive, will have to watch with the group mentioned above by others. It is a preference of translation style, to others this group does a good job with TL.

every time i hear your name i can’t help but remember DarkMirage…
even though you “think” you are a good moon speaker… “i am no one to discuss that since i don’t know jack about the topic” you guys sure love and enjoy just flying around on the internets with your little epenises dangling around like some kind of trophy…
like really… no… really…
you know i know way better translators than you… so much better than they are in a complete different league… i can give you names…
SYLF <— one of the best translators ever
guuchan <— amazing tler
cazoo <— wow… just… wow… awesome… that's all i can say.
Kunio-Kun <— this guy is great… is just that simple…
Kaen <— another big name… i have never seen someone who would translate not only words but also culture in itself as this guy did
and really… i have never seen any of those 3 blogging shit about other groups… if you know moon… FUCKIN A' good for ya…leave and let live… sub and let sub… but if this is what fansubbing has become nowadays… wow… i am so fucking glad i retired 1 year ago before all this kids in search for epenis enlargement came to be…
and kusion? really… no really… i have seen his translations… and either the editor is blind or i don't know really cuz he is the kind of translator that goes with "sumiyakani: rapidly" and that's it it can't be changed cuz that what the character literally said… period…
the very art of trolling has rooted itself into the world of subbing to the point that old subbers only can watch and:
1) be glad our time is over
2) we can only say "WOW it's insane"
while i would give you 5 thumbs up if you were talking about a complete guesslation such as hadena's venturous and epic fail just recently…
but if you talk about little mistakes… wait WHO CARES… you do your thing and let other people do theirs…
if you wanted fame and glory… wow that blog of yours sure was the way to go… you made it… i am sure your epenis must have grown quite a lot…
if this hurts you i guess i touched a nerve and if i did that means i am not wrong ain't i…
the same way you go wasting time doing nonsensic comparisons that 85% of the community don't even care about… (the remaining 15% is the troll community just looking for an excuse to start drama on demand)
just be happy and have fun tling whatever it is you are translating… let other people have their fun… you should do well trying to remember this is a hobby… not a job…

61. Good to know
I’ve been waiting on this show for higher vids myself.
