1. wow, thanks!
been waiting for this, and i don’t even download any other Ano Hana’s releases, waiting just for UTW,yeah

2. @ the holy filesize Batman above me
The last episode was bigger so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

3. You guys are awesome, did you know that? Giving back to the community when they give very little in return so Thank you.

4. Thanks for the hard work guys. I love UTW, and waiting for your release always pays off for me
Hope you keep subbing for a while, even if it’s just one show per season, somehow i always like yours best

5. Thank you guys. Always worth to wait for your subs. Thanks for taking your work seriously. We appreciate it.

6. I see what you did there with HnA release. Bigger than usual whine on gg’s site proves that this delay was meant to be.
Good riddance, them lolkids ;].

7. *insert gratitude and thanks here*
(which would have gone something like: “Thanks for the episode and hope you have a good weekend!”)

8. Wow, that really did have a lot of signs…that must have really sucked going through, especially since half of them were as drawn by kids… Thanks for the awesome work!

9. Is this what you call late release? Seriously, this was quick.
Oh, and Xvid DDL2 points at the wrong file.

10. @garen
yeah, that was late release if compared with the other fansub release
but, I still trust UTW fansub
best fansub for this show till now
thanks UTW, thanks for your hard work 😀

11. sorry about that ^^; I really meant that to be a compliment since a few hours delay is next to nothing. UTW rocks.

12. To those complaining: filesize=quality. You don’t want quality, download the xvid, or someone else’s crap release. kthxbai

13. @J3N0V4
ninja paste from Gosick 18
arEdit: If a BDMV hasn’t shown up by early next week, we’ll probably do a v0 sub of ep13 with the terrible share raw thats available.

14. I have to turn down the resolution on my computer for the HD 720 videos to not be pixelated. I scoff at those who download SD. Ha.

15. Query: At the end of the episode,
after Jin-tan and the gang have found out that Menma’s mother told the man not to help them with the fireworks, Menma’s mother says “What a joke”; in the gg version, she says “They’re all messing around”
this is a very big difference, as it goes from making her seem like a total bitch to a mother trying to cope. What is the rationale behind your interpretation?

16. haha.
Yukiatsuruko
. That made me lol 😛
but uh…thanks for the release. Nice quality in the translation that’s almost on par with SS (a typo once in a while but still better than most of what I’ve seen) but way faster xD

17. @Kath
1. I don’t see how two derogatory statements toward the group differ so widely as “total bitch” and “mother trying to cope,” though I do understand the difference in severity of the statement.
2. When I watched the scene (after 24 minutes of watching the group struggle, then get shot down at the end) it seemed to me she was greatly disapproving of the group’s endeavors. Enough for “What a joke.”
3. The two statements have a more liberal / more literal relationship.
Dialogue: 0,0:24:55.86,0:24:58.86,Default,,0000,0000,0000,,??????????????
I can assign a plethora of phrases that would capture the essence of the Japanese verb ????: fool around, goof around, kid around, screw around, [insert your favorite word here] around. Mess around included. However, add in my ability to infuse statements with further bite (see 2. for why I felt it needed extra kick) and you get a more liberal statement, a.k.a. what you saw in our release. I wanted to make clear that she has a malicious intent (or so it seemed to me; I tend to get proved wrong with these plot device things later on ;_;)
tl;dr: 1. [gg]: mother is disapproving. [UTW]: mother is greatly disapproving. 2. She gave a very dark edge to the line, so I made the line more severe in English as well. 3. it’s still just liberal, and I’m trying to make it clear the mother is EEEEEEEVIL!!!!!1!!11one! Not that you were saying it’s a TL error, but making sure anyone who reads your comment then mine doesn’t misinterpret.
@everyone amused by the the-spoiler-is-the-entire-comment comment
It’s the last line in the episode and a fairly significant twist in characterization. Read at your own risk.

18. Yes the ending was very confusing for 3 reasons:
Firstly the assumption that it was the mother whereas it could be either the mother or father (the J doesn’t say which it is)
Secondly, I was totally confused about “Onee-chan” was she actually talking (in her mind) to someone else?
and this made me wonder if Menma and Jinta are cousins … coming from the meeting without Jinta also … and Jinta’s mother being dead … and …
Lastly – yes that final line – the literal translation (without context) that someone gave me was: “You’re kidding, right?”
So the options I’d guess are one of:
“they are wasting their time” (she’s given up and can no longer deal with it)
“she’s gone – why do that” (she doesn’t care any more … though I doubt it’s that one)
or she is about to become active in the story in a possibly very bad way …
.. and I don’t think the actual meaning will not be known until at least next week …
So my point being … 🙂 .. better leave it literal than guess at the meaning and possibly get it wrong in such a critically important part of the show 😛
(the last bit of the ep 8 preview was like … wow …)

19. Thanks UTW. Your subs are best for this show. And I watched all 7 episodes for the first time today. Awesome show. Thank you for subbing this 😀
@more translation confusion
where was that onee-chan part i dont think i caught it?

20. @shinoo:
21:25: “onee-chan… Jinta-kun-tachi wa anata no tameni iro-iro gambatte etc, etc, etc” (I don’t have a script, deal w/ it)

21. I think you guys made the right choice in the last scene with the mum. Though she did say
Onee-chan, calling the eldest daughter onee-chan is normal in the japanese household. With the context of the what she said after is further proof. I think most don’t bother listening to voice actors’ intonation, but there was a bit of inmistakenable spite with the last line.
22. Some grammar issues- direct quotes should begin with capitalization and exclamation points/question marks should go inside if they are part of the quote. Commas and periods always go inside the quotation marks.
I was like “I’ll run away from home”, but she was just like “sure, if you can”!
should be
I was like “I’ll run away from home,” but she was just like “Sure, if you can!”
Thanks as always!
