Bit of a late release again, you know how life is unpredictable. I really hope we will get the new ED next week. Seeing as how the single is out 1/25, it couldn’t be much later. I’m kind of afraid they will make Hanakana sing something outside her unspectacular range and the song will be meh, but we won’t know until we hear it.

Say hello to the new season of Minami-ke! I was a huge fan of the series, so I’m like, “Dude, we’re doing this.” Unfortunately today was a bit hectic so we’re releasing later than we’d like. This should change with ep2.

There’s another series we’re looking at, but big question mark about picking it up. We were looking at Sasami-san@Gambaranai, but we weren’t able to schedule our lives around it.
P.S.: It’s a new year and all, so we will be switching from XviD to H.264 480p 8-bit for our compatibility releases for new projects from now on. However, the compatibility releases for Shinsekai Yori will still be encoded using XviD for consistency.

P.S.: We decided to release the whole thing in its entirety to avoid the issues that would stem from releasing two files, having to fix the audio issue in the first, having to come up with some magical way to help you guys join the two together etc. It does mean our earlier release is now redundant, but it’s the saner strategy to go with.

Aye so here is Episode 2, and we’ll try and get some more episodes released (if possible) in the next couple of weeks. Raze’s priority is on Fate/Zero, so after he’s finished that he might have some time to work on this show some more before he goes back to University.
Also there was some hurfing about banding in ep01 by certain people compared to another groups release which was covered in grain (which hides some of the banding). The problem lies in how Shaft handled the gradients (and most likely doing some silly resizing practices), and while this has already been debanded heavily, some gradients just can’t be fixed that easily. I really don’t have the time nowadays to be scene-filtering and creating hand-made masks every time stuff like this occurs and can’t just be easily fixed, so if some people aren’t happy without it being covered in grain (see: f3kdb) to hide the banding, feel free to grab the other group’s release. Please note that if I took that route, I would also need to raise the bitrate even higher to make it look acceptable in my eyes, because that’s just how it is.

Uh so where to start. This wouldn’t have been possible without everybody involved since the project first started as a yesy BD release and up until now when it became a UTW side project pretty much.
The story goes that it was first started by my bro goof who then had RL shit come up, and I took lead on the project with EighthSin as my right hand man, who put a ton of time and effort into translating this nearly from scratch. I asked Kusion to help edit and he managed to stall it for 10 months (like a boss~), and then Xythar came on board to help out with the editing and gave Kusion the kick in the ass he needed to finish stuff up!
So a huge thanks goes out to EighthSin, Kusion, Xythar, Raze, fnord, Daiz, Tormaid and also to the original guys involved: Desolo, KingArthur, sportsrmyname, goof, and anybody I forgot. Also thanks to the Pixiv artist for this awesome pic~
Also this was encoded from the Italian BDs and it’s finally done so yay. We all really enjoyed this series, so having a chance to work on it ex-TV was nice, and hopefully we’ve done a job worthy of this show.

The release of this episode concludes the SAO project! Over the past six months, we’ve followed the adventures of Kirito and Co. (or should I say Harem instead?) through two game worlds and four volumes of the LNs, and this is where we say goodbye to the series, right before Christmas.
My feelings towards this anime are mixed. I really did enjoy Volume 1 of the LNs and had high hopes for the series initially, but I can’t say I liked many of the directing decisions the studio made as the series progressed. In particular, all the sweet, little things that made Book 1 wonderfully romantic were left out. I never really liked the ALO arc either, but I suppose it makes sense to end it there.
Now that I’ve had my say, here are comments from the other staff!
kokujin-kun (Translator): A-1 Pictures, lrn2 English
Isakasan (Timer): I enjoyed it, aside from the action scenes it wasn’t too bad. The adaptation was done really well even if that meant making ALO so dull. Just like the novels! It was great working with UTW and the rest of the team regardless. Thanks to everyone for making this so enjoyable.
Justaway (Typesetter): Coming soon…
ar (Encoder, Backup Typesetter): Working on this show was a pain cause I didn’t enjoy it, but I had fun working with the guys none the less. Boobs would have made it better, but there wasn’t any so I rest my case.
Spoggerific (QC): Surprising how fast half a year passes. It’s a little cliche, but it seems like it was only yesterday when we started on the first episode. I liked the SAO arc a lot more than ALO, but at least that brought us Suguha, The Best Imouto. I hope there’s a second season just so ar has to work on this show some more.
thecowgoesmoo (QC): Thank you to everyone on staff for having enough patience to deal with my slow, obsessive self. I think SAO tried to do both too much and too little with the time it had, but in the end it turned out okay, right?
I handled the TLC, editing, QC, and anything that needed doing when people disappeared on me (such as timing and ad hoc typesetting. Shit sucked).
killazys, Sapphi, KmE, fgghjjkll, Bungles, msm595, and sangofe all helped out at some point or another… yeah, we had a lot of random fill-ins.
I think we’re doing the BDs, but they’re admittedly low priority. Don’t expect anything soon.
