This episode has raging books and teachers who aren’t afraid of ghosts without their glasses~ Apparently there’s some plot development too, but since I haven’t had the chance to watch it from beginning to end as yet I haven’t got much to add on this front!
Oh yeah… only one name change this week! Kujo gained a macron and transformed into Kuj?! It turns out Kujo is actually written Kujou (this went unnoticed obviously!), but seeing as it’s common place for the Japanese to drop of long ‘o’ sounds and romanize it with o+macron I thought I’d give it a try (plus this way chances are most people won’t even notice the difference, and I can argue it’s correct!).
tl;dr Scapegoat.
Enjoy and all that jazz~
Copy/paste names list, there’s probably more but they are the main characters.!
Names: Kuj? Kazuya, Victorica de Blois, Glaviel de Blois, Ms. Cecil, Avril Bradley

By the way if anybody does get any sign lag (even though you shouldn’t because they are light enough) I recommend upgrading to this version of VSFilter. It has prebuffer enabled by default (so I’m told) and it’s being worked on actively by guys involved in the MPC-HC project thus it has improvements from their internal subtitle renderer codebase.
Even without prebuffer it’s seems a fair bit faster overall for rendering more complex signs. For 32-bit MPC-HC or other 32-bit players use the x86 version, for 64-bit use the x64 version. These builds are compiled by XhmikosR.

Well, here we are with the first blu-ray batch of Toaru Majutsu no Index II. As with our previous batch, this went through extra editing and QCing.
Some special news that will come along with these blu-ray releases: we will include a secondary script containing “Sparky” for “Biribiri” (switch if you don’t want to see it). Considering the entire team (except Ulrezaj) thought of it as a perfect nickname, we figured it’d be nice to add it back in.
Big thanks goes to XMtS, who provided us with a final QC report. And to Path, who, without a doubt, is a master of Early Modern English… He also assisted with the QC of an episode.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a game to play until the next Index airs.
EDIT (2/5/2011):: We have re-released the files to fix the OP/ED font problems in the original releases. You can download the patch above to update your files to the latest versions if you downloaded the older releases. The DDLs and the torrent have been replaced, so there is no need to patch if you downloaded the files on or after the time of this edit.
arEDIT (2/5/2011)::Also we won’t be bothering with 1080p encodes this time around, it’s not worth the effort/time spent (~9-10hrs extra per ep) just so your player doesn’t have to upscale it on playback. I actually gave it a shot (wasted like ~20hrs of my time) and decided against it. I won’t do 2+gb encodes / 1080p ep just to keep the original dithering to stop the banding either, it’s dumb when there isn’t any real visual gains to show for it.
Sparky EDIT: What people don’t seem to understand is that: yes, there is a script for Sparky and for Biribiri. The DEFAULT script is Biribiri. Those who want to see Sparky will switch the subs, while those who do not… well, do nothing. Stop complaining about it when I’ve given you the choice.
Note:
Episode 2+3 commentary tracks (PCM PID 1101) appear to be the same (I seeked them randomly every 30s or so) as the Main PCM Audio track (PID 1100). Episode 1’s PID 1101 has commentary, the others don’t appear to. We have no idea if this is intentional or the person authoring the BD screwed up and muxed PID 1100 track (main audio) twice for those 2 aforementioned eps.
Bonus Features List:
* Episode 01-03: Creditless Opening
* Episode 01-03: Creditless Ending
720p Release
* Video – CRF ~17, 2-pass mixed
* Audio Track 1 – Main: FLAC 2.0 16-bit
* Audio Track 2 – Commentary: AC3 2.0 192Kbps

This was a pretty funny episode.
The encoder is also proud he finally managed to legitimately break the magical 500MB size barrier with this week’s encode. The episode needed the extra bitrate, of course.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that there will be no Fractale next week. And for those of you who celebrate it, have a great Lunar New Year!

Chugging along with the Amagami SS BD releases, here’s volumes 6-7, which contains:

  • Episodes 11-14 (Second half of Sae arc and first half of Ai arc)
  • Creditless Sae arc opening theme and Sae ending theme
  • Creditless Kaoru arc opening theme (we forgot to include this in the last release, so here you go)

And… yeah, no other extras again.
I was hoping Sae’s extra scene to be a 10 years later kinda thing where she’s… you know. Oh well, at least we also got some Nanasaki Bluray goodness.
These releases were delayed as Xack, the encoder, was busy until the weekend. Better late than never, however!

A new mystery begins… and we’re introduced to a shifty-looking (but beautiful) blonde femme fatale.
Stuff happens so make sure you enjoy this weeks slightly less late episode of Gosick!
Also Grevil was changed to Glaviel and Cecile to Cecil, re: official spelling on gosick.tv.
Scripts will be all updated for consistency for the mid-series batch (24 ep series, so after episode 12).
We were forced to admit this weeks CR script to the OR but thanks to our excellent surgeon, the operation was a success!

A Certain Magical Kinshomokuroku II – 16

Oi, Sparky, I don’t really think this can be considered a “punishment.”

Annnnd this ends the god damned church arc. Although it was fun, I’m not going to miss it now that Last Order is coming in. SISTERS, go!
I apologize for the huge delay. Our encoder was having troubles and our timer vanished (he’s lying) so everything kind of got stalled.
For those who have been asking: Yes. We are doing our own blu-rays. They’ll be released this weekend. We’re going over episodes 1-3 and fixing any and all consistency errors with the novels. And for the other people asking, the Index-tan 3 special has been at Raze since the link first showed up on TokyoTosho. Yeah, it’s been a long time. We should probably have that ready by this weekend, too.
WHY HAS YESASIA ONLY JUST NOW SHIP MY GAME? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

We learn more about the Fractale System in what was a thrilling episode with several shocking moments. And of course, Nessa is by far the best character in this series.
In other news, our site will be going down on Monday (January 31st, 2011) for approximately 24 hours for some maintenance. Rest assured that this is scheduled downtime and not… whatever you may be thinking.

Weekly blogging time~
Would have had this out earlier but I wasn’t happy with the previous encode so I redid it (already re-encoded it once before this) but you know what they say, third time’s the charm. This encode came out a lot nicer than the last two, so I’m happy. Other than that, it’s a cool episode so enjoy! This ends the Queen Berry mystery!
If you’re wondering why the release is a little on the big side, it’s because a good chunk of the episode is really dark scenes.

Alright, here’s the batch information:

  • Episodes 1-5 have been Mazui-fied (default style, “Such misfortune” etc.) and had some minor errors fixed. These use the original encodes we had for episodes 1-5 as we no longer have the original .ts files to re-encode the first six episodes to include the eyecatch. Archivers of our version need not worry, however, as we will be doing the Blurays.
  • Episode 10 received a new encode. No script changes were made.
  • Episode 12 has been v2’d to fix two typos (one of them major enough to warrant it).
  • All other episodes are the same as the weekly release versions.
