In the year 1925… Germany invaded Poland and triggered what would be known as the second World War, or so the story goes. In this universe, it seems like WW2 begins in the mid-20s. I guess we don’t get a timeskip after all ;<
The Christmas of 1924 (between 22 & 23) brought many a gift for all; Kujo got the gift of a haircut, Victorique a chess set, the Marquis de Blois a memento box, Cordelia some pyrotechnics and Roscoe (non-evil one) a pair of black matching pistols (see note at bottom)
That’s enough blogging for me. The delay this week was brought to you by subbing the Ano Hana finale and Raze being employed and overworked (so he claims~). Enjoy this weeks episode, only a few more days till the finale.
Also, with a double-aria this week it may affect Gosick’s release timeframe, but we’ll see what happens and how much work the script needs/etc. We’ll do our best, k~
Pistol note: The pistols Roscoe draws appear to be Mauser C96’s from afar, though on the close-up they have removable mags which the C96 didn’t get until the 1930’s, and look more like modern sub-machine guns than their early 20th century counterparts. I guess considering the timeline for the second world war, historical firearm accuracy would be the least of their worries (lol).

NB: Ano Hana Batch will be done when it’s done.

There’s lots of work to do on it, so when we’ve got the time we’ll get it all done and till then you wait patiently (even if you don’t it won’t make it any faster. Hell, we might even delay it more~).

This is a UTW post. I repeat, this is a UTW post. We are not GG. Flower post pic though. Teehee!

Some people think I never say bad things about stuff I watch. My opinion is that I just find good things about shows a lot easier than bad things, and that I don’t find anything good about criticizing things that I can’t somehow fix myself. That said, epic finale folks ;_; I’ll add on an extremely long-winded wall of tl;dr about the series once i’m not playing LoL (what, it’s Sunday) so look forward to that! 😛
And the obligatory staff curtain call!
Moshiburner (Translator/QC): 25 o’clock in the morning or not, this show made my Thursday. This is the first show I’ve worked on with so much work going into its content, and every week I found it to be worthy of multiple re-watchings, whether it be for QC pass number 3 or simply because I’m waiting on someone else to finish their part. Worth every drop of effort I put in to (almost) perfect each script. Which includes timing one of the episodes. You’re not alone ar, lol 😛 Anyway the series was a great follow-up to spring season (almost lost my head in that one with all that entropy increase) so I’m hoping there’s more stuff I can sincerely laud in fall season. Preferably the thing I’m working on, because otherwise I won’t watch it (unless people keep spamming OMG THE [anime title here e.g. meduka] EPISODE WAS OMG every week in the staff channel) since I’m busy n stuff. Conclusion: Amazing catharsis, has those you-watch-it-then-you-cry-then-you-watch-it-again scenes. Definitely a pick for 2011’s recommended shows.
Raze (Editor/QC): This show turned out to be a LOT of effort to work on for some reason (Hidan no Aria airing at pretty much the same time didn’t help either) and I kind of altered my editing style for the show as it progressed. It’s been a bumpy road and we made a couple derps along the way, but here we are with the finale. And what a finale that was! Great series.
ar (Encoder/Typesetter/Timer): Twas a fabulous show, well other than the changing of ED lines every week (lucky there wasn’t k-timing to fix) and that damn pain in the ass diary with all its curving pages and zooming and panning and whatever else it did. Thanks to comfag and his travelling around the world, I ended up timing this series too for the last few eps so it ended up being a bigger pain every week than the pain it started off with (lol). Anyway I enjoyed the series, but I probably won’t be typesetting and encoding a FujiTV series again on the same day anytime soon, I’m beat.
commander`A timed the first six episodes or so and then disappeared. He also stinx.

Amagami SS Short Animations – 01

DOWNLOAD: [UTW]_Amagami_SS_Short_Animations_-_01_[DVD][h264-480p_AC3][DF1AD70D].mkv [DDL1] [DDL2]
Also known as the Amagami SS OVA, this is basically a group of short ~5 minute animation sequences for each of the six main heroines. The first set features the first three heroines (Haruka, Kaoru, and Sae) for a total runtime of about 15 minutes.
It felt good to work on Amagami SS again, though we kinda slowpoked this release, being an OVA (okay I lied; this would’ve been out over 24 hours ago if it wasn’t for me/Father’s Day/sleep/work). This is available only on DVD, so 480p is the highest (and only) video resolution you’ll get.
I’m too tired to try and remember if I missed anything, so I’ll hit the sack and spare you guys from additional reading. Enjoy the release!
arEdit: No, we will not being doing XviD’s for this because it’s 480p. So stop asking about them.

So we have the Charming Monster (Monstre Charmant) mentioned finally, and we’re about to head into the final arc of the anime. According to the summaries for Episodes 23 & 24 they come out of Gosick VIII, but I don’t really know much than that until the reviews start appearing sometime after June 23rd, when Part 1 of Gosick VIII goes on sale. How they will condense 2 full novels into 2 episodes is beyond me, but we’ll see what happens!
If anybody is interested, this is all the Japanese info I have managed to collect so far on the upcoming VIII Part 1 Novel and Ep23/24 Summaries. Before you ask, it’s in Japanese, so either throw it through Google Translate (the rough translation is readable for the most part), or if you can read Japanese, bonus!
Gosick VIII Part 1 & TV Ep23/24 Summary Stuff
Time to enjoy this weeks Gosick. Sayonara, Sayonara, Sayonara~

I figured a Mutou release pic this time around would be cool, since he’s all “Man, I’m badass” in that scene.
Nobody wanted to time Hidan no Aria this week, so I ended up doing it, making me the TL/Timer/Editor/QC for this episode. Release would’ve been out earlier, but I’ve been extremely busy recently with the million things that are happening with my life right now.
Oh, and let it be known that THERE WILL BE NO HIDAN NO ARIA NEXT WEEK. Both episodes 11 and 12 will be aired on June 30th.
P.S.:: Yes, we will be doing the Amagami SS OVAs. Please stop pestering us about it.

Oh man, this episode is tear-jerking ;_; like drama all the way. [across the sky etc.] Let me tell ya, they are not going to leave any loose ends regardless of its shortness as a series. Everything’s starting to get wrapped up in a neat bundle… yet they manage to keep a huge part of the story teetering on-edge until the end. And by end I mean the part that hasn’t been aired yet. I can’t wait for next week already! Cookies for the writer. So yeah, tons of drama. But hey! We still managed to find our Kodak Moment inside, as you can see by the post pic. (Here’s one more btw:)[spoiler][/spoiler] I would put a lolcatz banner around it and write sth like Why Poppo, why? but it seems like a lot of work for just a release post <_< and now that I’m in JP I’m working at late night I’m all “I can’t take it anymore!” since I prefer not to be dead the next day. Well, looks like I don’t get everything in life. Bi-quitting!
Nah jk, late-night kinda sucks but I’m not quitting with one more episode t[[[SITUATIONAL IRONY DETECTED; POST HAS BEEN CLOSED]]]
P.S.: Voraciously avid religion enthusiasts will probably rage at the fact that rebirth comes up in this episode, as well as our change from “attain Nirvana” to “go to heaven”, which not only turns Menma’s whole disappearing act into something of Christian rather than Buddhist significance but also spits in the face of many well known religious contexts. Whoops. My bad.
Honestly though, we kind of figured that we should do something when being reborn came up this episode, since attaining Nirvana -> becoming a Buddha -> can’t be reborn cuz you’re enlightened -> o noez paradox. So our answer is “go to heaven” and yes we will fix the previous resultant oopsies in the batch, don’t worry. Now you may want to complain that in a Christian context going to heaven is also an end-of-the-path action, but since we’ve already generalized heaven enough to be used acceptably within the Shinto-Buddhist context of Japanese religion I believe it can be just vague enough to be a suitable intermediary for whatever kind of rebirth they’re talking about. Besides, there’s already an angel and a ghost coexisting. I’m sure throwing in heaven can’t be that bad.
Disclaimer: No, I don’t study religion. If I’m terribly mistaken in some regard then leave a comment. If you are also a) stupid or b) retarded such that you didn’t understand the contents of this P.S., I am right and you are not because I am not stupid or retarded and you are one or both. Don’t comment. Enjoy your ghost girl animu.
Okay last one zZ: This is the site of some game that Raze mentioned. It is about a ghost. It is about a ghost who comes back. It is about a ghost who is a girl. It is about a ghost who was very close to the protagonist. It is about a ghost very few people could see. It is about a ghost… who is eerily similar to Menma.
DUN DUN DUUUUN…
So there you have it. Give it a look if you have some time, cuz I haven’t even clicked the link.

So with that, we’ve reached the conclusion of the tale of Queen Coco’s unsolved murder. Next weeks episode covers Victorique’s birthday, which is still from Gosick VII I believe although it’s possible it’ll be a mix of Gosick VII + GosickS IV (went on sale 25th may). From there on, episodes 23 & 24 look to be from Gosick VIII: Twilight of the Gods Part 1 and possibly some content from Part 2 which won’t be on sale until late July and most likely just ties up all the loose ends.
Gosick VIII is set to take place at the beginning of World War 2 (going by the summary blurb), so I guess that puts the timeline around 1939, which would be roughly 14-15yrs after Gosick VII (December, 1924). Considering Victorique was born on December 25 1910, it’ll put her age somewhere around 28-29 and Kujo around 29-30 iirc (can’t remember his birth year).
Anyway, that’s enough Gosick trivia blogging. Enjoy this weeks ep!

This episode had over 400 lines and parts of it were a giant pain in the butt to translate. I hope you all enjoy it.
Kusion would like me to mention that he filled in for the timing and did it with a laptop mouse at his workplace. That’s pretty boss. Though I was going to blog about how he’s a dick for shirking all work to play iM@S if he didn’t agree to time.

Gosick BD Vol. 1-2

DOWNLOAD H.264 720p: [Victorique]_Gosick_-_01-04_[BD][h264-720p][FLAC] [DDL]
This package contains:

  • Episodes 01-04

Now for starters this will only be getting a 720p release due to the source not really warranting a 1080p one. I included FLAC audio (even though it doesn’t really warrant it or need it either) but otherwise I’ll get a lot of requests for it, so it’s easier this way. Now to mention size, this is quite large for a 720p but due to the dither/grain in the source and all the dark scenes it is most definitely required to preserve said dark scenes. I’ve done my best to keep size down but this was the best I could do without killing off dither/noise that stops the banding. I don’t want to hear any complaints about how this is too big for a 720p, so deal with it.
The BD version isn’t that different to the TV version, there is no de-censoring or extra scenes (so far). They did remove the GOSICK text between the two parts though. Simply put, download this if you want to archive a better copy of the series. If you are happy with the TV versions then there is no reason to download this because you won’t gain that much, other than the dark scenes looking quite stunning now. The bright scenes look pretty much the same, except without the compression/telecine artefacts, broadcast station’s logo and analog tv is being canned this july warnings (lol).
720p Release
* Video – CRF 17.5
* Audio Track – FLAC 2.0 16bit
Also take note, I’ll be releasing Gosick BD’s every 2 volumes because it’s a hassle to only release 2 episodes each month.
