Summer 2011 Plans
We are doing:
1) The iDOLM@STER (three-way joint with Underwater and a guest translator)
2) Kamisama no Memochou
3) Kamisama Dolls (using CR’s translation)
That will be all.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention we’ll be doing Appleseed XIII on the side too.
UPDATE (July 12th): We no longer feel that Kamisama Dolls need us (with HorribleSubs and other groups releasing 720p rips using CR subs), so we won’t be doing the show. Sorry if we got your hopes up.
Delays for Aria and AnoHana Today
Some of you may already know that I basically get up at 2am every Friday to fansub anime for you guys. I’m thinking of simply getting my full night’s rest this time, however, for two reasons.
1) I have a very important interview tomorrow which I want to attend in tip-top condition. Not getting enough sleep because I was fansubbing in the dead hours of the night probably isn’t a good idea.
2) I had LASIK surgery done on my eyes a few days ago, and it’s pretty important that I give my eyes plenty of rest this week. Waking up prematurely to stare at a computer screen for hours straight when I’m supposed to be sleeping doesn’t seem very good for my eyes.
I probably shouldn’t be sabotaging both my future and my eyes just to give you your subbed anime several hours earlier, which means the soonest I can (and will) get to them is when I’m back home after the interview. Which would unfortunately mean a delay of about… 10-ish hours.
Incidentally, today is Moshiburner’s last full day in the US. He’ll be having his graduation and an all-night party before he embarks on a long flight back to his native Japan on Friday. Which means he probably won’t be translating Ano Hana this week (and he can’t fill in for me for Hidan no Aria either).
If things go well, we could probably release the episodes for both series by this time tomorrow (this would require me to translate Ano Hana instead of Moshi, which I could probably do after Hidan is released). We’ll see.

Hi Guise. Moshi here. I put on my robe and wizard ha—graduation cap, and now I’m back for a bit before I’m off to party. Though my head hurts whenever I stand up. Lol.
Speaking of Lol I might be LoL’ing with my RL bros so you may want to look for my presence online in something like three to four hours. Not sure if we have 5. No, I won’t be subbing there. Why? Because 1. Raze is gone anyway and he lurvs to do at least 1 edit/QC pass on hana before it’s released, and 2. I’m sure I can spend the last night for a while with my friends before I go to the motherland without you guys ragefacing, right?

So according to the status of each show, Hana will probably come out first and Aria at some point one day this weekend (comfag is travelling around the world instead of fagsubbing, so technically all Aria delays are his fault). Many of you have been wondering if we would continue to sub this show with CR picking it up. The team decided when CR made the announcement that we would drop the project if the CR subs were of competent quality; they turned out to be excellent.
We have thus decided to drop this project until further notice. Please rest assured that those of you who are following the show are in good hands with CR subs. Included in this release is our translation of the OP/ED, which we invite CR ripping groups to make use of.
Maybe we’ll pick something up in its place, or perhaps we’ll have to wait until the Summer season to join forces again. Who knows?

Fractale Delayed…
…again. We’ve pretty much (temporarily) lost our .ts source for this show since the Sendai quake, so we are now completely at the whims of the Share/PD uploaders. A .ts still has not appeared on either at the time of this post, so it’s extremely unlikely that we’ll release by tonight (US time). With any luck, we’ll have it out by tomorrow.
And damn that cliffhanger…
KUSION EDIT: And to those asking, we’re almost done with Vol.2 of the Index blu-rays! Just in time for Vol.3, right? We should have them good to go by Monday or sometime next week.

AR EDIT: I jacked Kusion’s jack. I am god! On a side note, we aren’t going to sub the GOSICK special because it’s stupid and terrible. It is 50% recap, 50% talk show. Nobody wants to do this. CR didn’t do it either and hell I don’t blame them. tl;dr Episode 11 airs next week. No GOSICK until then.
(I might cut a couple of parts out of it that are interesting (Interview with the author + Ep11 Extended Preview) and make an abridged special out of them.)
Winter 2011 Plans
The new show we will be picking up for the upcoming Winter season is Fractale, an original anime series airing in the first noitaminA slot; it will replace Amagami SS in terms of our scheduling. The series is slated for 11 episodes and begins airing January 13th.
Toaru Majutsu no Index II continues into Winter season, being a 24 episode show.
Depending on what other groups end up doing, availability of staff, and scheduling, we may or may not pick up an additional show; however, we will abide to our usual stance of avoiding shows that are already subbed well and reasonably quickly by another group or organization.

Fall 2010 Plans
Announcing our plans for the Fall 2010 anime season, in succinct bullet-point form.
- Amagami SS continues into fall season, being a 24(+2) episode show.
- First new show is To Aru Majutsu no Index II, and it will be a joint with gg Fansubs. Should we pick up the project, the episodes will most likely be released within 24 hours of airtime, but no faster.
- Second new show is Yosuga no Sora, and it will be a joint with Ryuumaru Fansubs.
There were a few other shows we wanted to do, but ultimately decided against:
- Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai: this show was actually our No. 1 choice for fall season, but it will be subbed by our buddies over at Mazui.
- The World God Only Knows: licensed by Crunchyroll.
- Fortune Arterial: also licensed by Crunchyroll.
- Bakuman: will be subbed by gg.
And… I guess this is the time and place to announce it now. We will be subbing the Unlimited Blade Works movie, and it will be a solo project. We had plans to do it before it was even in the theaters in Japan, and all the logistics for the project have been finalized. Basically, we’re ready for it.

About Our Second Show
So, the mysterious replacement show we had decided on was Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin, but Crunchyroll pulled the troll on us and announced their simulcasting it like 4 hours before airtime. Similar to what happened with Highschool of the Dead, we’ve decided there’s also little to no point in subbing Occult Gakuin, even though it breaks my heart because it is god-tier anime and everyone should watch it. I suggest watching Commie’s version, which, from a brief skim of the script and what little I remember of the dialogue, seems like a solid release.
Unfortunately, this means we’re wracking our brains as to what to do for our second show. At this point, pretty much all other viable alternatives have been covered:
Mitsudomoe – Subbed by FFFpeeps. It’s not really my kind of show either, and responses from the other staff are lukewarm at best.
Asobi ni Iku Yo! – Shows like this are a massive turn-off for me and extremely boring to sub. Ershin is going to give this a watchthrough and decide after that, but you can pretty much bet that we won’t be picking it up.
Strike Witches 2 – … Why I’m even bothering to mention this show I have no idea.
Shiki, Legend of Legendary Heroes, Sengoku Basara 2, Sekirei 2, Nurarihyon no Mago – All licensed by Funimation.
Seitokai Yakuindomo – Already subbed by Ryuumaru, which our timer commander`A runs. We of course endorse his version.
… which leaves us with pretty much nothing else. In other words, it’s very likely that the only show we’ll be doing for Summer 2010 is Amagami SS (which, to ease the minds of some of you, we have zero intention of dropping).
Of course, this means that we free up time to work on BD releases, OVAs, movies, and the like. Please understand that we’d much rather not pick up a second show than waste our time and effort subbing a show some other group/licensing company is already doing.
sadly, with Funimation deciding to suddenly license like 15 shows this season, this is probably what will happen. Of course, this means we free up time to work on OVAs, movies, and the like.
High School of the Dead Dropped
Dear Everyone,
It is my greatest regret to announce that we have decided not to do our 2nd planned show, High School of the Dead.
… well, you can’t really drop something you didn’t pick up yet, right?
There are many, many reasons why, but among them are:
1) This series has been licensed. We wish to respect the license holders, and there’s little to no point trying to race against them since they get their raw materials hours and possibly days before the series even airs on Japanese TV.
2) Abysmal air time. 11:30am JST means it won’t finish airing until 11pm EST; then I’ll have to wait another half hour for the cap to be uploaded, then another hour or so until the work raw is encoded… meaning I can’t start translating until almost 1am. Which means I’d have to stay up all night, every week.
3) Even as it is, this series will probably still be fansubbed (I’m pretty sure Coalguys is still doing it), and… put bluntly, it’ll be a waste of time and effort for us to do it too.
There are other reasons, but I’ll spare you the reading. Put simply, none of us at UTW feel the project to be worth doing anymore.
On another note, we’ve pretty much decided on a series to do in its place. You’ll find out what that series is, however, when we release it. *wink*
