This episode concludes the Durandal arc. Girl in picture is Saber with gray hair. As for the final fight, I was expecting a lot more flames (well, the fight seemed a whole lot more dramatic in the novels), but oh well. It looks like the anime should be able to reach the end of volume 3 in the novels.

Yeah, we (read: I) took a long time with this, but it’s finally done for your viewing pleasure! After waiting for almost a week for the BD for this to show up, we decided it’d be a good idea to get this out of the way and done with before my job etc. starts. Hence the v0, indicating we used a raw from Share. We won’t be doing a 720p v0 release because we might as well wait and encode it from the original Bluray.
At any rate, this episode was so much win in so many ways, and both ar and I really enjoyed working on it. That Bakuhatsu Penguin scene was god tier, seriously.
arEdit: Thanks to a lovely chap, the whole lack of BD issue has been sorted. Don’t ask me for a timeframe, but I imagine within a week or so. Do not constantly ask about where the release is, please. It’ll be done when it’s done and no sooner.

In other news, I start a full-time temporary job this coming week which shouldn’t affect Hidan no Aria‘s release schedule (unless we get .ts/staff problems again) as we should be able to release it before I leave, but it does mean Ano Hana will be delayed until I can get home, edit it, and release it. It’s not all bad though as there are speedsub alternatives around for those of you with no patience, and ar gets more time to work his typesetting magic.

EDIT (5/20/2011):: v2 released to fix chroma glitch in the second half. No patch, since it’s a new encode. The encoder says he’ll mess around with the settings to rein in the filesize by next week. No promises, but we might include a more appropriately-sized encode of this episode in the batch for you archivers out there.

Slight delay because my brain wasn’t functioning while I was translating at like 3am this morning and took a while to rev up. We have the start of a new arc, panty shots, lots of Shirayuki, and Aria proves once again that she’s dumb as a doornail.
Off to Ano Hana…
Gosick – 17

Whoa looks the real plot is starting to unravel now as we are about to head into the last 7 episodes of the series. Roughly from what I can tell, we’re at the end of the 5th novel (GOSICK V) currently. The next episode should be taking place at the start of the 6th novel (GOSICK VI), which leaves us with 2 more novels after this. There’s currently 7 novels in press, and the 8th novel (and final novel in the GOSICK series) will be published along side the final arc of the anime, according to the author (Kazuki).
The progression looks like it’ll be: GOSICK VI -> 18, VII -> 19-22 and VIII -> 23-24. GOSICK VIII release date is 06/25 which coincides with 23 airing and is pretty much exactly how Kazuki described the wrap-up of both anime and novel will go down.
